Alexandra is a transplant to PEI who quickly fell in love with the Island, and decided she is here to stay. Summer or winter, she loves spending time outdoors, whether it is reading a book on sandy beaches followed by a swim in the warm ocean water, or snowshoeing in the forest in mid-winter.
In her day job, Alexandra is a Communications professional who enjoys the outdoors, good food, travelling, and taking the time to stop and smell the roses. As an avid traveller, Alexandra understands the importance of a home away from home: she makes every effort to make you feel comfortable, and tries to anticipate any of the needs you might have. She is also a real 'people-person', and enjoys meeting her guests and doing all she can to make their vacation a success.
Alexandra Shaw purchased this cottage in 2014
Since childhood, Alexandra has loved everything about the ocean. After moving to PEI, she dreamed of finding the perfect oceanside getaway. In February 2014, Alexandra snowshoed up to this cottage and it was love at first sight. She loved the private, ten-acre lot on the ocean in beautiful Tracadie Bay, the view of PEI's famous sand dunes, and the sole sound of wind in the trees.
This cottage boasts a huge screened-in porch that looks out onto the ocean, and where you can lounge morning, noon, and night.
My husband and I and our two dogs absolutely loved staying at the Seagrass Retreat. We enjoyed the quiet setting, wonderful sunrises and walks along the beach. The glow of the sunset on the dunes while we ate dinner will be a lasting memory. Alexa was a wonderful host and the house was comfy and just perfect. We will certainly be back!
Amazing location! Lovely grass area leading to sea grass bay w/ kayak/canoe to take you to the dunes 15 min away, w/ a fishing harbor providing color to the view. Herons and ospreys flying all around. Natl park beaches in biking distance. Proximate to Charlottetown. Really felt like an ideal location and super peaceful and quiet, with no other houses around or in view. The cottage itself is nice enough, especially the screened in porch which is crucial. Very clean and feels new. Kitchen is decently furnished though very small and with some quirks. Loft is great for kids or other people who don't need a lot of noise privacy. Two bedrooms are small but functional. Alexandra was a conscientious host and always available to sort out small issues and questions.
Very private secluded location but convenient to town. The cottage was comfortable and homey. Alexa was a wonderful hostess who went out of her way to find answers to all of our questions about things we wanted to do on the island. With Alexa's help we found some good spots to fish near by. We really appreciated Alexa's gift bag with a sampling of local products. The restaurants she recommended were so incredible. Wish we would have had time to try them all!!! Mosquitoes weren't bad but it was nice to have the screened porch to relax on. We brought our golden retriever and except for a run-in with a visiting skunk, it was a great place for pets, esp one that likes to swim. We liked that we could keep her on the screened porch to dry off. We had a wonderful relaxing stay and hope to get back to PEI next year.
The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you will need. The host is very informative and accommodating and the information provided is timely and makes your stay stress free.
Alexa thanks for sharing your cottage with us! We had a wonderful week , the view from the cottage is amazing from sunrise to sunsets! We enjoyed the fire pit and seeing the bald eagles go by from time to time and at low tide the Great Blues fishing from the sand bar in the middle of the bay. We hope to be back soon, Phil and Cecilia.
My mother and I stayed here from Oct. 17-21, so it was past the normal tourism season. Alex was incredibly helpful to us in finding restaurants and attractions which would still be open–we even ran into her at one! The house itself felt secluded and cozy, but was still less than a half-hour drive from Charlottetown. Although the cabin isn't intended for all four seasons, weatherwise, we were snug and warm even after it snowed one of the days. The ceilings are high and spacious, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen met all our cooking needs, and if we'd come during the normal summer season, we'd have spent all our time out on the porch. Everything was clean and immaculate, and Alex made a special effort to come out and meet us on our first morning, even though she'd already had the cabin ready for us when we arrived late the night before. I would suggest that if you're renting a car, you choose a Jeep or SUV, because the driveway is a dirt path, and on wet days it was nice to have that extra driving power. I can't speak highly enough about this property, or about Alex. There was a bad moment when I thought I'd left my wallet behind at the cabin after we'd already boarded the plane to leave, and Alex promised to make a special trip out to retrieve it and FedEx it to me. Fortunately it was just in another one of my bags, but I think it is an example of her willingness to assist her guests!
