Studio retreat

  • 4 of 5

The studio was exactly as advertised, small but functional. The location on the beach was perfect for a relaxing retreat. Brian and Trish were wonderful hosts that lived next door. It was so generous of them to help move us to our next location in Bucerias. The pool was clean and situated right on the beach which was perfect. The other owners and guests were very friendly and made us feel welcome. I did not realize how far the location was from Bucerias central, where we had friends staying. We did not have a car, but the distance was walkable. The condo is situated very close to the highway, and I did find the noise at night hard to get used to. Having said that, my husband had no problem with the noise.

For a relaxing economic accommodation in a lovely setting, this would be the place for you.

Beautiful view...

  • 3 of 5

Great little place to stay. Do bring earplugs for traffic but the ocean can drown it out also. the neighbors were very accommodating when no one was there to meet us. I figured that was why the place was pretty dusty when we arrived. Much thanks to Ann for water. Bed was comfy. Stove worked great.. pots and pans were too old for my comfort. Great cleaning service when requested. Would recommend and stay again.. Thanks David!

Loose front door knob with dirty toilet

  • 1 of 5

Armando who speaks English was to meet me but of course he wasn’t there. A person who spoke no English was in the lobby helped by making a phone call and showed me into the room. Initially everything looked good but after he left I noticed the front door knob was very loose. Then I went into the bathroom and saw the obviously soiled toilet. I immediately took my bags and walked out leaving the key with the person who gave it to me. I felt unsafe and didn’t want to clean the toilet myself before using it.

Be realistic on your intentions of stay

  • 3 of 5

My time in Bucerias was for setting intentions for the new year, unwind, and while staying on budget feel like vacation.

The studio is small, the oven did not work, the pans were filthy, the refrigerator was not installed, the floors had not been sanitized in a real way in a long time, and there were 3 flimsy towels that weren't usable for drying a human body.

The noise from the highway is REAL and if you are a light sleeper you will not sleep well without some sort of distraction noise - I used my iTunes all night.

That said, I enjoyed my stay and would return. There is a long beach walk or about 20 minutes to any restaurants (outside of a Subway and sushi joint which I recommend the hand rolls). The GM Armando resolved some issues immediately supplying actual towels and a refrigerator. The AC miraculously works very well. The shower has great pressure. The window overlooking the pool and ocean is peaceful (some reason 20 feet away the noise from the Highway is silenced). Its beautiful. If you are a beach person you will love to be right on the sand, there is a great pool and book trade, hot tub (I don't think jets work but I used it just to sit and read). I enjoyed the walking however you can get taxis. There is an amazing market at La Cruz on Sundays. HUGE. From fresh fish, paella, and street vendors with art etc. Not much bartering, but quality fun items. I recommend going to the Art District for restaurants like Marks, Karen's, and live music in the eve (and of course ART!!!!!!).

David is hands off, so really get Armando (or Lucy who I only saw once) to help.

Its about 300 pesos from the airport, or they will try to get you to pay $40 (at PVR) which is over 2 times as much. January is an ideal time to visit.

VISA is accepted almost everywhere, but be careful and ask even if there is a sign. Its mostly safe, and a very affordable place to visit for a week or more.

Not meant for more than 2 people at ALL, and if you are a couple, you must love each other a lot. For ME it worked.

The bed I found really comfortable, but the sheets were really old and there's not housekeeping, so bring your own if you are going to be sandy :)

Buena suerte.

We really enjoyed our stay at Vista Bahía !

  • 4 of 5

The view was fantastic - you really are right on the ocean. The room is great, bed was comfy.

It's located right off the hwy, we walked out and it's easy to flag down the small vans or buses to ride to Nearby Bucerias or La Cruz.

You can hear the traffic but we found after a few nights you get used to it and it's fine.

We found out after a few weeks there that they have large beach towels available, just ask for them downstairs .

The building is really well looked after , very clean.

Many of the people that stay are there for months at a time not touristy at all.

There is no wifi in the unit- you have to go downstairs to the lobby area to use the wifi . We didn't realize this but apparently you can setup something before you go.

Cheap, noisy, but clean.

  • 1 of 5

This place is right on the ocean but it also sits on the main coastal highway with lots of semi and car traffic. If you are deaf, you may be able to sleep at night. Cut my stay short 10 days as I found traffic noise unbearable.
