BAYSHORE BEACH BUNGALOW - Waldport Oregon - Eclipse Viewing!

Bedrooms 2
Property type bungalow
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Ocean view, beach access, kid & pet friendly, ample parking, quiet getaway

Comfortable, family owned beach house for rent in Waldport, Oregon. The Bayshore Beach Bungalow has two queen bedrooms, a large loft -- "height restricted" - sleeping loft for additional sleeping and play area for children (loft is 'child friendly' at 3-5 foot high). The queen beds in the bedrooms are made with sheets and pillow cases and comforters. The double beds in the kids loft area have comforters & pillows but no sheets or pillow cases; sleeping bags work well or bring your own linens. The Bungalow has one bathroom, a generous living space, large family sized dining table, full kitchen, washer/dryer, sand box, ample parking and a wood stove (you provide the wood or presto logs-the house has electric heat). Although the house is not right on the beach, the beach view is great and the public access to the beach is very short. We are one house lot from the beach. Bring your friends and family and enjoy our Bayshore Beach Bungalow and make wonderful memories as we have done for many years.

The house is located in the Bayshore Development just north of Waldport on a beautiful stretch of sandy beach. The house is one lot from the beach with beach view and public beach access. A beautiful wood deck with a beach view is the perfect place to watch your children play in the large sand box just a few feet away!

The house will sleep up to 4 adults and 4 - 6 children in the loft.

The house has a fully furnished modest kitchen (no dishwasher!), TV with VCR & DVD, a portable gas BBQ and full size washer & dryer.

The Bungalow is located on one of the most beautiful stretches of sandy beach on the Oregon coast!

Waldport is a quiet fishing village with a gorgeous stretch of sand, offering plenty of space for building sand castles, flying kites, seal watching and hunting for beach glass or seashells. A little larger town, Newport, is 15 miles north.

The Alsea Bay at Waldport provides excellent fishing, crabbing, and kayaking.

Vacationers who like a more laid-back environment but still want to visit famous attractions (like the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center (free!) and Rogue Brewery, for instance), will love staying in Waldport, which is 15 miles south of the busier, more touristy harbor of Newport. Newport has plenty of restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shopping, as does Yachats, which is 15 minutes south of Waldport.

Seal Rock is very close to the Bayshore Beach Bungalow, where vacationers can explore the rock formations at low tide in addition to a large sandy beach. Exploring the small town of Seal Rock reveals examples of chain saw art, glass blowing, quaint restaurants and beautiful ocean views!

Yachats (Ya-hots!) is a small, beautiful, quaint town about 10 miles south of Waldport. Wonderful shops and eateries as well as beautiful sandy beach awaits you in Yachats!

Some vacationers will prefer just enjoying the beach from the roomy, comfortable wood deck - YOU DECIDE!

About Jan Brooks

Hello and thank you for reading about us and our beach house.

Our Bayshore Beach Bungalow is and will always be a special place for us and our family. We don't want to bore you, but we go way back --- married over 50 years. We bought the land on Oceana Drive in 1977 and built the beach house a year later. There is a lot of sweat-equity in this place as we actually hammered the nails, installed the insulation, hung all the siding etc – all of it – with very little “hired help” in the building process. We were very excited to have our very own place to make memories with our family and friends.

Fast forward to now, we now share this beach house with family, friends and most of all we love to come here with our five wonderful grandkids! There is nothing more fun than being a grandparent and sharing the same house that we once did with our own girls.

Jan Brooks purchased this bungalow in 1977

Why Jan Brooks chose Waldport

We chose this lot to build our beach house in 1977, where at the time, there were no houses on the beach front lots in front of us – across Oceania and no houses to the south of us for at least 2 blocks. Although the homes have grown up around us, our Bungalow still feels private and our neighborhood is very welcoming. We hope you choose to stay at our special place away from the hustle and bustle of life and make great memories as have we!

Jan & John Brooks

What makes this bungalow unique

So close to the Ocean!

  • 4 of 5

The house was the perfect place for our family to spend Thanksgiving! We really enjoyed being able to watch the waves from the front room, and the kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfortable and everything worked out great! A wonderful place to stay, would definitely stay again.

Well cared for cozy

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking peace and quiet, long walks and days on the beach, small town feel to get away from it all this is perfect! The cottage was cozy with everything you could need or want across from the beach so you could see and hear the ocean waves, it was close to lots of amazing views of spectacular Oregon coastline that were easily accessible for exploring and shopping. JUST DO IT 🌊

All the amenities you need for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for our 3 young children! The loft & sandbox were a hit. It's not "on" the beach, but has a view. All beaches in OR are public, & the water is too cold for swimming anyway.

Last Minute Getaway

  • 3 of 5

Fantastic location on the Oregon Coast. Loved Waldport as a little beach town and easy access to Newport and Yachats. House was not fancy but we didn't spend much time in it. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the partial ocean view and the sound of the ocean through the large living room windows at night. Rooms were large enough to sleep in and move around. Bathroom was small and tub/shower combo was a little hard to manage with small children but did the job. There were no condiments in the refrigerator and very little in the cabinets so suggest you bring your own. Enjoyed all the fun games that were at the house as well as the many sand toys!

Note about the loft: The loft area is not suited for anyone taller than 3'-6" due to the LOW ceiling (probably about 4'). I can see how it would be fun for a 7 year old but we didn't use it as it is dangerous for young children (ours are 2 and 5) - stairs have openings in railings greater than 4" and the low wall is low enough that a child can fall down to the 1st floor if standing on one of the many mattresses. Windows in loft area are also accessible to children climbing out onto the roof as they do not have child proof locks on them.

Took away 2 stars because of the lack of safety in the loft area. My kids REALLY wanted to play in it and I was stuck up there ensuring they were safe. We formed a blockade so they couldn't get up the stairs as a result. Loft area would be fantastic if it was made safe.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Jennifer, for your thoughtful review of our Waldport beach house. We are glad you enjoyed the central Oregon coast. When we posted information about the loft area of our house we were thinking of kids a little older than 2 yrs & 5 yrs who probably should not be unsupervised anyplace they play. We will certainly look into your suggestions for improving the safety of the loft sleeping area, which is what it is intended to be with 5 double bed mattresses on the floor for "dorm like" sleeping. Thanks again for staying with us! Jan Brooks
