Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom and Loft, 2 Full Bath, Cozy Back Deck, Sleeps 10+, big open great room

SLEEPS 15????

The box above states that our house sleeps 15. This is a required box that is supposed to state maximum occupancy. We have a total of one queen bed, 2 full beds, and 4 twins. That will sleep 10 "normally". Any number of guests over 10 will have to sleep more to a bed, use the couch, bring an air mattress, etc.. We are flexible on the 15 number. We just had to pick some number for maximum occupancy.

There is a link to our website at the bottom of the "Owner Info" section. See "Owner Info" tab above.

Our home has 2 bedrooms and a loft. The master bedroom has its own bath with a shower. The great room has a tall vaulted ceiling with two exposed cypress trusses. The loft has 4 twin beds and a full size bed.

We have basic satellite TV and internet access from DISH network.

This is a new home, finished in June, 2014. It has 1800 sq ft, porches front and back.

The area around our home is quiet and really laid back. You won't hear much out of the closest neighbors, if anything. The concrete front porch is cool and shaded most of the time. There might be 4 or 5 cars drive by each day. Pretty private place. Yet only 15-20 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants, marinas, etc.. Or about 2 minutes from being in the lake at Cove Creek Recreation Area.

We have a nice fire pit you can gather around and make s'mores or more. You won't need to bring your wood. There will be plenty nearby.

If you have younger kids who need to burn off energy, you are welcome to romp around on 12 acres that are part of our property here.

We have put together a "poor man's" frisbee golf course you are welcome to use. We have a number of frisbees and course map/scorecards.

NOTE: We DO NOT rent our home for 'bachelor' type parties.

About John and Susan Waldrup

Bean Point. Where did that name come from?

Jesse Bean was born in 1840 and, as best as we can determine, lived most of his life within a mile of our house. He left and fought with the Confederate Army. As he was returning home, he passed a farm and saw a woman out working her farm. He found out she was a widow with several small children. They eventually got married and she moved back home with him.

Jesse died in 1899.

Susan's granddad bought 80 acres here in 1957. In the decade or two after 1963 and the coming of Greers Ferry Lake, they sold off some of the lots that overlook the lake.

After her grandparents' death, the remaining land was divided among their four children. We inherited some of it and bought more, intending to finish the subdividing that was started years earlier.

We have completed that project. We have several lots for sale and a weekend home that we use and rent out to folks who come here to enjoy the lake or just get away.

We look forward to meeting you if you choose to stay at Bean Point.

Why John and Susan Waldrup chose Arkansas

Our house is new (built in 2013-2014). It is fresh. It will be clean. We do not use property managers. It does not smell like a motel room.

The nearest house is a good football field away. There is very little noise. If you are looking for a quiet laid back place to hang out, this is it.

Are you an early riser? If so, you may see several deer meander across the lawn. I saw four raccoon in the middle of the day in the front yard not long ago.

What makes this farmhouse unique

If you have any interest in building or buying a second home in the area, consider Bean Point. There are great building sites. I have been a building contractor for 30+ years in this area and would be glad to help you, build for you, or just answer a few questions.

This home provided the perfect location for the celebration of my 12 year old daughter's birthday. Fire pit, s'mores, etc.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Pictures cant really give you the full beauty of this rental. Very nice and excellent condition. We had 13 people in our party and it was able to accomodate all of us. Everything was immaculate. John met us there upon arrival and was very friendly. He had all the supplies and utensils fully stocked and the only thing we had to worry about was the food. It was very relaxing to go out on the back deck and just enjoy the atmosphere and nature without all the big city noises. I would highly recommend this rental. Definitely a 5-star.

Relaxed vacation

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a weeks stay at this vacation rental. It had plenty of room for our 8 guests, 4 of which were children. It had all the necessary things we needed to make our week complete(all cooking utensils, grill, towels). There is a Rec area with boat launch very close that we used daily, but be prepared to pay a daily fee of $5. If we weren't on the water, we were on the back porch in the swing. Heber is only 7 miles away for groceries & restaurants. If you are looking to unplug, this is a good getaway and I would recommend this home. Home owner was very good to work with & refund deposit was returned promptly.

Birthday Bash

  • 5 of 5

My Family and I all converged on this property from 3 different States for 4 days of R&R. We were in contact with the owner John several times in the weeks prior and he was very accommodating and flexible with regard to the property and very helpful with information about local business and attractions. The home is beautiful and well kept all the adventure You want is within 30 minutes and we liked the fact that You can go back anytime of the day and relax in the quiet area. There is a beach just a 1/4 mile down the road. I recommend driving to it due to the road not having provision for walking near the road. We had 13 people ranging from 10 months to 49 Yrs of age and found this to be potentially the spot for an annual retreat with the group. Thank You John! The memories are made.

Very nice, quiet, comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

This property is great for medium-sized groups, as long as some of the group is ready to sleep in the loft (which is nice, just limited on privacy).

Positives: Nice home, nice deck, nice fire area, well-stocked kitchen, good room for playing games or working puzzles at the table, good lake access (only via car), very nice and accessible owners (onsite, refunded the security deposit in a timely manner)

Negatives: Loft stairs are a little treacherous for smaller children (definitely not recommended for under the age of 3-4), no walking access to lake (which I mistakenly understood to be the case)

Owner's Response: Thanks for the positive, 5-star review. Thanks for all of your comments. They help us to evaluate your concerns and clarify things about our home for future guests. As you note, there is limited privacy in the loft area. That can be seen to be the case from two of our photos of that area. It is primarily for sleeping with one full bed and 4 twins. Our stairs have a standard tread-to-rise ratio. As a builder, I have always tried to avoid steep stairs. Again, our photos show you they are normal looking stairs. As all parents know, many "normal" things in life are "treacherous" to a 3 yr old child. We welcome small children because we want to encourage families to be families and to build memories together. I am sorry that you mistakenly thought there was walking access to the lake. Our house is about 1/4 mile from the lake as our listing info states in several places. I guess that's walking distance for some people. Not me. LOL. The trip there is downhill. Coming back is quite a climb. I'll just drive. Thanks for mentioning this. Your review can help serve to clarify this point to others. Again, thanks for coming. Hope you had a blessed visit with your out of state friends.
