Ouray- Colorado-45 minutes from Telluride. Nestled in the San Juan Mountains and within easy walking distance to anywhere in town. The Cartier Victorian House is your home away from home from May 1 - December 1. The house is currently not offered during the winter months

An 1882 Victorian home lovingly restored by the owners. This Victorian getaway offers the best of old and new; exquisite wood work, antique furnishings, large claw footed tub with shower, fully equipped contemporary kitchen, laundry facilities and breathtaking views from a fenced in yard. The house sleeps four to seven people and is the perfect retreat for couples and families.

Take in the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains by foot, by 4WD jeep or just from the front porch. Stroll along the Uncompahgre River in the rural Colorado countryside and then relax at the end of the day in the natural hot springs that abound in the area, all amidst the most beautiful area in North America.

Every season in Ouray has something to offer, however the fall seems to be a well kept secret. The Aspens and Oak brush fall color change set amidst the Colorado Rockies with dotted timber building remnants of the mining days of this area, make this time of year a spectacular visual feast for travelers that are looking for undiscovered travel delights.

Ouray is just 45 minutes drive from Telluride, offering access to the same San Juan Mountains that the famous Telluride is nestled in. Our rates offer the best accommodation value in Ouray or Telluride.

Come and see for yourself- we would love to have you as guests in our holiday home.

Cartier House Ouray

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time in the Cartier House in Ouray, Colorado.

The house is very convenient to every thing! From the wonderful downtown to the Cascade Falls and the Ouray walking loop. We enjoyed every minute!

I would just say if you are over six foot and up stairs, watch your head the doorways are a bit low.

Love Ouray. Our second visit and we will plan a 3rd annual. The hikes were phenomenal.

The house however while having many benefits inc. location did disappoint this year.

-house wasn't cleaned when we arrived resulting in a 2 hr. wait for that.

-tv didn't work?? Uncertain what the problem was even after rebooting.

- windows were very dirty.

Generally it seemed neglected perhaps after a long season.

We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely restored 1880's Victorian Home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the character and charm of the Cartier House. It is perfectly located just a block away and an easy walk to main street Ouray. The inside of the house was a very comfortable size for all of us. It was well appointed with all the items we needed. We really appreciated the fenced yard and baby gates that kept our 19 month grandson out of trouble! We only have two suggestions for the owners. The plates and mugs are getting very chipped and cracked and could be replaced. The plates were especially annoying because they have a downward slope to them and the food slides off the plates. Also, it was very hard to cook with the old, non-Teflon coated pots and pans. We spent way too much time trying to clean food off them. They too could be replaced. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the house and would definitely rent the Cartier House again! Thank you for a very pleasant stay in Ouray!!

P.S. We did have an issue with an overflow of garbage in the shed from previous renters, but I've already addressed that issue with the property manager.

Love this old house. The family had a great time and plenty of room for all.

If you book this place for late July. Please make it known that it is monsoon weather during this time. For most part, your still able to get out and about for what ever interest you. Many places to drive to for siteseeing or hiking. This was our third time rented this beauty and we noticed that it needs some TLC. Front porch swing you shouldn't sit on because the main post is rotting from rain. Window on the south side , I believe has some water damage so that needs attention. Rose bush need some trimming as well as the tree in the backyard. Branches get caught in the window when closing. The inside of the house is looking great and we all enjoyed the comfort. This house is too pretty to not get some loving. We'll see you again in the future and who knows what family members will bring with us. Make sure you have extra apples and carrots on hand , the deer just love them and slowly and calm, they will let you feed them. What a pleasure it is to be able to feed these lovely animals. Thank you again. Had a great time in this ol' house.

Prettiest house in Ouray!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 4 year old son and I stayed here for 8 days in July and it was the perfect house for us. It was walking distance to the hot springs, hiking trails, shops and restaurants. It was fully stocked with linens and kitchen supplies. The house itself is an extremely charming Victorian that feels cozy and homey. Everything was clean and very well cared for. The house could easily accommodate a larger group, maybe up to 7 people. The views from every window are breathtaking; you can literally see mountains from anywhere you sit in the house. The only negative was having to leave! We hope to return to Ouray and the Cartier house in the future.
