Why Kelly or Shannon Patterson chose Volcano
This property is built in a wonderful development called Mauna Loa Estates. It is unique that the owner's here have 1/2 acre parcels to build on that offers privacy w/nature abound. We love the cool nights & warm days w/no humidity! The higher elevation makes our home virtually bug free.
What makes this House unique
We love that our home is built by us & that it's modern with a local Island feel. Our master bedroom is the place you can really spread out it's almost double the size of most bedrooms! The kitchen is great for entertaining, you can be part of the conversation with the open concept layout. Plenty of lights & overhead fans to spread the warmth & laughter. Our featured hot tub is probably one of our most treasured assets of the home.

Great space for up to six adults
Everything that was advertised was true. Our family our six adults had adequate space and all agreed the house was perfect. The only problem we had was the coffee maker didn’t brew.
This home was perfect for our stay. The home was beautiful, clean, and well equipped. We were comfortable throughout our stay. The hot tub was great to relax in at night. The area is quiet and private. The owner was responsible throughout the booking process. I will definitely stay here again next time we are in Volcano. Excellent property!
Mixed Feelings, Room for Improvement
Stayed for 3 nights in Volcano Pearl during early Apr. On the good side, home is spacious and modern. Kitchen was well supplied for cooking with all the necessary gear. Coordinating with hosts was straight-forward and they were very welcoming with some chocolate macadamia nuts and Kona coffee which was very kind. We didn't use the hot tub so can't comment on it. Did like the property location for exploring VNP, only 5 min to front entrance. The reason for my mixed feelings is due to the smell of the property. There was a strong mildew odor went we arrived. I noticed many air fresheners positioned throughout the house but they were empty. We opened the windows to air out the inside for a few hours and it helped a bit. I was not comfortable with having the windows open while sleeping and the owner wanted the windows closed when not there (understandably). Because of this, the odor never really left the property and it made our stay less than ideal. I did not call the owner because I didn't feel there was anything to be done and I wanted to enjoy my vacation time. It is a wonderfully decorated and modern home but the owner needs to address the mildew odor.
Thank you for the nice review and the constructive input about your stay at our home. This is a wet, tropical climate which is a constant battle to work with nature. We will do some changes to help eliminate some of adverse side affects of living in the forest. We're thankful that you enjoyed your stay and we hope you will return again!

Great location, wonderful hot tub
This is a lovely spot convenient to Volcano National Park. The hot tub was fantastic, even with the wet weather in Volcano, thanks to a large umbrella. It was disappointing to have such overcast weather: I am sure the star gazing from the hot tub would have been incredible! The kitchen was wonderful although there were electrical problems when two appliances were operated at the same time and the fridge was not operating properly when we arrived. The initial impression on arrival is unfortunate as the house is cold and musty. However a space heater is provided and was put to good use.
Great place, wish we could have stayed longer
The house was clean and comfortable. I would have enjoyed staying longer.
Nicely furnished home with hot tub and close to the park.
We booked Volcano Pearl because of its proximity to the park and its hot tub. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the well stocked kitchen.Lots of pot and pans . As was mentioned in earlier reviews, the showers were warm but not as hot as we would have liked . It was January so we were happy for the wood stove . Guests should also know that there is a space heater which also takes the chill off the cool evening temps. Also, there are just a few food and restaurant choices in the area so reservations are advised especially for restaurants like The Rim in the park and Ohelo in Volcano. We discovered that grocery stores have limited hours and selection so provisioning yourself in Hilo before arriving will save you money and disappointment.
Spend days in the adventures that are right outside your door: Volcano National Park (be sure to go back at night to see the awesome red glow), walking trails show casing the unique trees and vegetation as well as fascinating holes formed around trees during lava flows or visit the local glass blower & pottery enthusiast's shops. Spend a day golfing, or drive to Black Sands Beach then come home and relax in the luxury of a hot tub & the warmth of a fire, cozied up with your family or a romantic get away.
