Historic apartment centrally located
Two families (four adults and two children) rented this apartment for 5 nights and had a great time. It's HUGE! Plenty of space for people to spread out and not feel on top of each other. The apartment is located within walking distance of the cities main attractions and above a fantastic restaurant. It gets warm in the apartment but there are air conditioners in each room to help cool things down. There was a lack of toilet paper though (a partial roll in each bathroom with no back-ups!). And it would have been nice to have either another dishtowel in the kitchen or a roll of paper-towels. Otherwise, it was a lovely. I would recommend the place.
Nice large apartment
Our family of two couples and one older mama stayed in the Federighi apartment for 5 nights in September. We were met by the manager, who was very friendly and helpful in showing us how everything worked and giving us advice on how to find things in the neighborhood.
Location - Apt was in a regular residential/business building, gave a different experience to being in Florence than staying in a hotel. Walkable from train station. Grocery store nearby.
Lots of room - big living room, dining room, kitchen, and 3 bedrooms.
Kitchen was well stocked for doing the little bit of cooking we did.
Good location for most tourists to Florence.
Elevator (typical size - small!)
Excellent restaurant in building - Giovanni's! The smells coming from below were heavenly!
Cons - Location. Centrally located (close to the river), but the street is very narrow and scarily trafficked for comfortable walking. It would have been better not to have a slightly unsteady walker with us. It seemed safe, though it was easy to wander into some locations that seemed a little more rough on the way to other neighborhoods.
It's also fairly noisy inside the apartment at night - traffic, as well as a bar 2 floors down. They did provide ear plugs, and running the fan also helped.
Cleanliness - mehh. Linens were minimal but clean. Building is very old, the floors are stone and cement of some sort and didn't look like they would be easy to actually make sparkle. The upper bathroom is a bit dodgy all around. The entrance has the "Florence" smell - a bit like sewer. It came and went, and I assume it comes with adding plumbing to a 1600 era building.
Supplies - I did mention to the owner that for a few Euro a night extra, they could easily provide some hand soap and more than 2 rolls of toilet paper.
Overall, I think this apt. is a good value for the price, and especially for a group of mobile, younger people who are interested in living as a local for a while. It's not luxury, but a nice retreat from sightseeing.
Location, location, location
Great location! Lots of room! Very functional for larger groups and plenty of room for kids. We were four adults and loved having the space. It's near everything, you don't need a car and I don't even think we used a cab while we were there. Near sights, stores, galleries.
