Cute, comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is small and sweet, well stocked with a generous outdoor deck, great for watching the world go by!

Loved the location- steps from stunning tropical beach where we watched the sun rise over turquoise water every morning! Walking distance to cute bars and grocery stores.

Lovely owners with helpful suggestions and fast responses.

Such a fun stay.

Perfect- center of adorable town, cute, clean.

We LOVED this house. It's decorated with love, unlike corporately owned rentals. It's clean and cute and functional. The family room is comfortable with chairs and sofa facing each other (and a big nice TV on one wall), so it's great for socializing or reading privately. We loved the location, right in the middle of peaceful, quaint, wonderful Hope Town. You can't find a lovelier destination in the Bahamas, in our opinion. Very friendly locals, lovely water and sand, charming homes, colors, flowers. Also, noteworthy, we didn't feel the need for a golf cart like most visitors, not at all. We just walked. Be aware that the island is short on water (very little rain), so no laundry facilities in the home. I'm not sure what folks do who stay longer, but we managed. There may be a laundromat a short walk away. The house slept 5 perfectly, with 3 children in the cute upstairs. It could sleep 4 or even 5 upstairs, too; (but be aware that the upstairs space is open and shared). The neighbors were super friendly and have lived on the island for many (9?) generations in that house!! We'd choose Merlee's again without looking at other options. It was perfect.

Fabulous cottage in the heart of the village!

  • 5 of 5

Merlee's Place is an adorable cottage. It is cute, very clean and we loved the location! We also loved that the house is historic on the outside, but nicely renovated inside. We enjoyed coffee on the porch. Great place for reading and people watching. Love the neighbors. The home is across the street from the famous Vernon's Grocery, around the corner from the coffee shop, Wine Down Sip Sip and several restaurants. The caretakers are so kind. He met us at the dock. Check in was easy. The owners went above and beyond for our enjoyment. My husband loves to watch sports. The owners called the cable company and added ESPN just for us!!! That's excellent service. We will definitely return to Hopetown and Merlee's Place!

A Dream Vacation!!!!

We loved our stay at Marlee's Place! Such a great location! You can walk to everything. Just a short walk up the path to a gorgeous beach with great snorkeling on the reefs. The house is furnished comfortably and beautifully. The porch is fabulous for enjoying conversation and coffee in the morning or drinks in the evening. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for preparing meals. We loved our stay here and can't wait to come back soon!!!

Car: not necessary

Hope Town is a small picturesque village built around a protected harbour on the island of Elbow Cay. Hope Town has modern marinas, boat rentals and most importantly a genuinely kind and friendly population.

The island is approximately 5 miles long and 1/4 mile wide. A magnificent barrier reef protects the long sandy beaches, making them perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and fishing. The climate is ideal year-round. Our house is located in the middle of the little quaint town with a path to the beach just outside our door. It is only steps to the beach and and the harbor. The harbor and it's famous lighthouse are absolutely beautiful.

Additional information about rental rates

House is equipped with a generator that automatically starts up when electricity goes out. Loss of electricity happens frequently on the Island. Also, if interested in staying less than 7 nights, you can email me at to discuss.
