About the property

Beautiful 2nd fl unit with loft, lovely furnishings, best view @ CSA

As you enter you will catch a glimpse of the loft and it's special loft furniture. Hardwood flooring hallway leads to plush-carpeted spacious great room with cathedral ceilings, tv hidden behind painting above fireplace and huge seating area. The Harbor Room offers views with both seating and dining area. A separate eating area is provided at the kitchen island. For a very special cocktail hour, head out to the deck where a high top table provides great views of the marina and West Harbor with it's constant boat traffic. This is the best rental deck in CSA since it is open @ the end no privacy wall to obstruct view and includes an awning for perfect hot weather enjoyment. For the second honeymoon couple the master bedroom has a queen bed, and cable tv. A stairway complete with 2 handrails (no unsafe ladders !) from the great room provides access to the loft bedroom. ideal for children( NOT infants) or another couple ..ceiling slopes so tall people should consider the master bedroom for fullest enjoyment. Kitchen is equipped with ceramic top range, microwave, dishwasher should you want to eat in. Hardwood floors there are continued into the bath where new walk-in shower for safety and new washer/dryer are located. Keys are provided for entry to the bath/shower house/lounge which is impeccably maintained as we have used it often for those times when everyone wants to shower at once.

The pool is a short walk. After a day at Cedar Point or sightseeing you may want to take your favorite beverage in a plastic glass ( we provide) and soak in the hot tub. Our unit is a favorite with renters who bring their own boat!!

Check out the photo from the deck and note the dock is DIRECTLY below the unit with a sidewalk leading to the docks. Soo much nicer than having to load everything in your vehicle and drive to the other side of the harbor. There is NO EXTRA charge for our dock. We will NEVER ask you to wash our towels before you leave. Knowing you will be in a rush to get on your way home we have our cleaning crew do the linens.

About Capt. Ralph & Mary Ann Melvin

We have spent our summers and many winter weeks at Come Sail Away since 1989. When the opportunity came up to buy a second condo we jumped on it. We have tried to anticipate all of your vacation needs so you will enjoy this wonderful Island Area of Lake Erie and come away with great memories just as we and our family have over the years. We know you cant do it all the first year and expect you will come many more. Your owner is a licensed Charter Capt, fishing Lake area for 40 years. If you want fishing we will try to fit you in or help you find another charter to meet your needs.

Capt. Ralph & Mary Ann Melvin purchased this condo in 2013

Why Capt. Ralph & Mary Ann Melvin chose Port Clinton

We are centrally located on Catawba Island for maximum enjoyment with minimum travel to a large number to activities, attractions, eateries, ferries and beaches. Come Sail Away is primarily an owner occupied complex where friendly people share the quiet peaceful atmosphere. The owners want you to love Come Sail Away and return year after year so we try to make your experience the best possible....we cant control the weather. We provide many brochures to help plan your stay such as current ferry schedules and rates, in your unit along with a "welcome" bottle of wine for that first evening Happy Hour on our deck which provides a wide open view of West Harbor.

What makes this condo unique

Whether you prefer watching boats moving in and out the channel to the lake or a Great Blue Heron fishing from the dock below your condo you just cant beat Come Sail Away. Eagles nest nearby . If you rent with us we know you will fall in love with Come Sail Away as we have. For those who bring their boat we have the very best dock we are an END unit so the dock is just a few steps away for convenience in loading gear. No need to load up your car and drive across the channel. Small children and older adults will appreciate the very short walk to the pool vs units at the far end of the complex.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As owners @ Come Sail Away for over 20 years it is always a pleasure to have our guests enjoy their stay so much they want to come back or even better look into living here in the future. We have so much to offer since we are so centrally located to all the fun sites around the Islands and the Marblehead/Catawba Penisula area. Thanks and hope to see you next year.

Much to our delight several of our vacation renters have returned for another visit. One couple is even looking into buying into Come Sail Away for their retirement living. The HOA Board @ CSA goes to great lengths to maintain our complex to the highest level. Docks are replaced on a regular basis and the entire boardwalk and seawalls have been replaced. The streets are repaved and landscaping is lovely. New pool for 2017 will have a big splash pool, hot tub and refreshing pool. CSA has a well-deserved very high reputation for a quality place to live or stay. We remodeled and decorated out unit with this in mind. NO cast offs, repairs addressed quickly and owners on site for personalized check-in almost always. We employ a Professional Housekeeper and we will never ask you to wash your towels before leaving!! We want you to enjoy every minute of your stay and come back another time.

Mini vacation

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the 1st time last month. The condo was perfect, we cooked on the balcony over the marina every night. The view is great. We played in a volleyball tournament at put in bay and used the hot tub afterwards. The pool was great also. The unit is updated very well, I could live there all summer

Beautiful Condo for a Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a great week in this wonderful condo! It is beautifully decorated with high end furnishings. We did not have a need to use the extra bedroom in the loft but we were so impressed with the way it was designed. The bathroom has a beautiful new walk-in shower which was so easy to use. I loved the hard wood floors and the carpet looked brand new! The view from the deck is gorgeous and the auto retracting awning made it enjoyable to use the deck even in the bright morning sunshine! The complex has a pool and hot tub which is just a short walk away. Although we did not use the dock, it is right below the condo which would be so convenient. It was a very relaxing stay as the complex is very quiet. The condo is well outfitted with needed supplies and the grocery store is located right up the road. The complex is also conveniently located to many attractions such as the ferries to Put-In-Bay and Kelley's Islands, Cedar Point Amusement Park, African Safari Park, Miniture Golf, and many other attractions. The owner provided information on these attractions as well as some great restaurants in the area! We definitely plan to return next year!

WONDERFUL! Great Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I spent a week at this lovely condo with my two college-aged kids and we had a wonderful time. We didn't want to leave. The condo is immaculate - it has everything you can possibly need, it's beautifully decorated, it sits right on the marina - the view out the back deck is just beautiful. The pool is just a few yards down the street from the condo - it's very well kept, very clean, and it's a really nice sized pool. We were just minutes away from the Miller Ferry, from Mon Ami Winery, great places to eat, farmers market stands, and a short drive to Port Clinton. We ate on the deck every morning - and watched the sun go down every evening. We fished right off the dock in the back of the condo. I got up early and walked/jogged around the marina area and surrounding neighborhoods - it was awesome. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The owners just could not have been more friendly or accommodating to include providing information on great places to eat, magazines full of activities to do in the area and a discount card that we used ALOT both in the area and on Put-In-Bay. I am so thankful this unit was available for us - it was great to just relax in the beautiful condo, relax at the pool and be so close to all the other activities available in the area. I've read the other review that included a comment about the loft area, the ceiling is a little low, but my college aged son slept in the loft - the bed was comfy and he didn't mind the low ceiling at all. Again, the owners were just so friendly and so helpful. It was seriously tough to pack and go home....I'm looking forward to visiting again later this fall and again next season. Just a really great place to stay!! Thank you thank you!!

Owner's Response: we were so pleased to have Karen and her family as guests because we love seeing others enjoy our lovely paradise on Lake Erie. Fall is special here in the island area with lots of festivals ( I provide schedule guides) so I hope they follow through on their promise to return this fall.

Another perfect girls trip!

  • 5 of 5

As I stated in my last years review, "we will be back" and we just finished another perfect stay. The condo is nicely decorated & in the perfect location near everything worth doing in the area. This year we even drove into Sandusky for a nice dinner & fun event @ The Sandusky State Theater. We also had another perfect sunset cruise with Captain Ralph (we have now given him the name Captain Sunset) over to Kelley's Island. We enjoyed coffee in the mornings & happy hour beverages in the afternoons on the deck overlooking the boats. Again, Mary Ann was a pleasure to work with. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Owner's Response: We try to personally check in our guests so when we have folks return as several have done this year, it is like seeing old friends again! We enjoyed the laughter and were glad to play a small part in what has become an annual reunion. Hope to see you next year, ladies.

Just north of the Sandusky Bay Bridge, Come Sail Away condos offer the best in Lake Erie vacations. We are minutes from the Miller Ferry to Bass Islands and party town Put in Bay where the Federal Park System operates Perry's Monument. After touring the visitor's center you can ride the elevator 300 ft up to an observation deck for a view of the surrounding islands and a discussion of the War of 1812. For birders we are a short drive to Magee Marsh for the spring and fall migration. We are famous for our water parks and of course, Cedar Point as well as East harbor St. Pk beach. Kids go crazy over a day @ African Wild Life Safari, 15 minutes from your door. Our couples have told us they loved the quaint lakeside town of Marblehead (a 15 minute drive)with it's many shops, restaraunts, a tour of a working lighthouse. This is the place to catch the ferry to Kelly's Island for another fun-filled day trip. Try their West Dock restaurant for a dinner and a view of the sunset across the lake. A few miles away in Pt.Clinton, summer weekends bring festivals, art shows in the park, music offerings and dining by the water. From there you can catch the fast ferry, Jet Express, to Put in Bay. If you have your own boat we have a slip with your rental to accommodate up to 30ft boat. If you just want the best walleye or perch fishing available check with the owner who is a licensed Captain offering charter trips or sightseeing. For your dining pleasure 3 miles down the road you'll find Mon Ami, a converted winery with an outdoor garden eating area and the absolute best Friday night seafood buffet. also very well recommended are: Nagoya, Japanese cuisine, and Ciao Belle, Italian cuisine both over look water and provide outdoor Mexican, try Las Casa Palmas. You will find brochures and take out menus included in your guest packet along with ferry schedules for the 3 forementioned ferries and pamphlets from many more places than you will be able to fit in.
