Our own private paradise. We had 5 adults and 3 little ones, ages 10, 6, and 2. The large yard was perfect. The location was great, and we love the town of Haleiwa. Accommodations were great, the beach is right out your door, and we had the beach to ourselves most days. The weather disappointed us a bit as it rained a lot more than usual. However, it was warm and we swam in the beautiful ocean every day. We would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Val and family for inviting the kids to the Easter Egg hunt. They thoroughly enjoyed.
Lived up to the pictures and reviews!
Our party of 8 were very happy with our time here. We had long flight delays on arrival and were well looked after upon our very late arrival. The property, yard and house, are in excellent repair and well looked after. The property manager is very personable and does a fantastic job maintaining the large yard. The beach was quite with very few people, even on weekends. Being winter on the North Shore we expected large waves,(there were lots of surfers to watch just to the right and left of the yard) but the reef in from of the yard protected the sandy area in front of the house enough that swimming and snorkelling were no problem. We even got to snorkel with a turtle! We are all adults and teens and strong swimmers. I wouldn't send smaller kids out to far, at least in the winter.
The beds were comfortable, there was more than enough snorkel gear and body boards, fishing gear etc for all of us. The BBQ was good and we used it several times, even in the dark as there is a light outside. The property is fenced and gated on three sides and we never felt insecure at any time.
We spent a lot of time in Haleiwa on cloudy parts of days, it is close and has most things you need or want. The house was easy to find with our GPS. We loved the slower pace of the North Shore, we went to Waikiki one day and never got out of the car, opting to turn around and head back to the house. The AC was used in most bedrooms at night but the air moves very well though the living area and we were never uncomfortable.
Our only disappointment was having our flight delayed so long that we missed and entire night at this great property.
Nirvana on Oahu
This was a perfect location for my family including 18-80 years olds. The historic house is beautifully maintained with a nice blend of breezy common areas with four private rooms. The living room day bed was also a favorite nap crash pad! Very quiet in the country except for the roosters, but conveniently close to Haleiwa to surf and play. I hope we'll be back!
Private and Peaceful
This is a lovely rustic home right on the beach. We took grandkids 8-13 for Christmas. They were perfect ages for the larger waves. We found enough snorkels and boogie boards at the house for them to play. Probably not as good a swimming beach for toddlers but my kids loved it. They enjoyed watching the surfers and there was never more than a dozen people out on the beach - very private and very peaceful. The view from the front is amazing and we loved listening to the waves at night while watching incredible star shows in the sky. We used the gas grill for food and loved going to the food trucks in Haleiwa. The house is older but very clean and well taken care of. We appreciated the a/c in the bedrooms. Great experience!
Amazing house with terrific location
This is the second time we've stayed at this beautiful home. The house is organized in a way to allow multiple couples to have their own space, but enjoy a common family room and great dining table. The backyard is spectacular - we spent almost all our time in the yard and on the beach. Saw lots of turtles in the water and on the beach. We love Haleiwa and the options for casual food. We look forward to visiting again.
The home was darling
This home was darling and I loved the old style. And such a well maintained yard! Since it got dark so early and everything close shut down we had to come in early. We would hang out to watch a movie or play games but the furniture was so uncomfortable. It’s not really a hang out and relax type home when it comes to furniture. The location was beautiful but the beach wasn’t really usable for us. The waves came up too high to sit on your towels and enjoy it. The waves were also too high to swim. So we enjoyed the view but had to drive to other beaches. You may also want to go to bed with bug spray on. My kids got so many bug bites each night! Over all I liked the house and it was clean and well maintained, it just wasn’t exactly what I’d hoped for but it may be perfect for you!
