About Nona Morlan

I have lived on this property since early 1980's. I lived and trained in the Jackson, Mississippi area. I graduated a program and wanted to move away from home and parents, so after visiting some friends in this area, I decided it was the place for me. I met and married my husband and we lived in the cottage for 15+ years. We did some remodels, to move in and take care of the aunt that lived in the primary home on the property. This wonderful woman passed away in 1997 leaving the properties to my husband and me. My husband passed away in 2001. For many years a friend stayed in the cottage, keeping with the beach living. Hurricane Katrina came and a lot of things changed. I was blessed that there was minimal damage to my home and the cottage. The bluff, that my property is located on is one of the highest points between Apalachicola Bay, Florida and Galveston Bay, Texas. I never believed that fact prior to Hurricane Katrina, but have since become a confirmed believer. For years, the cottage was just used when friends or family came to visit. I am now a retired medical professional and have decided to try sharing my beautiful beach way of life with others.

Why Nona Morlan chose Mississippi

One day, as I was looking out the kitchen window of the cottage, towards the back wall of the primary dwelling, I realized, I had seen this home and all the landscaping before. I had dreamed of this place many times since I was a young girl. Deja' Vu ...well I believe. I had such a feeling of peace. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know, at this time in my life, I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

What makes this cottage unique

The town and all the interesting activities are wonderful. There has been an increase in arts, shopping, and fun things to do but the thing that draws me to this area the most is...the PEOPLE. They are the friendliest I have ever run into. I have made so many friends over the years. Friends and family that come to visit have made the same discovery. People smile or speak to you as you walk down the street. Join us in 'A Place Apart'.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was well stocked and maintained allowing for a relaxing time. Owners are very nice, friendly and helpful. Neighbors were full of southern charm. Cottage had everything so we could stay in and make our own meals but shops and restaurants were in walking distance too. Close enough to Gulfport and Biloxi activities but far away from the hussle and bussle to be peaceful and enjoyable. Dog friendly town with accommodating Restaraunts and beaches. I could definitely see living there as a way of life I could definitely appreciate.

Very clean and very well supplied with absolutely everything you need (except food, lol)

  • 5 of 5

Owners were super nice. We were greeted with a very welcoming smile by a friendly couple. The decor was amazing. Nona and Kevin thought of everything renters would need, even menus for local restaurants. Definitely recommend and hope to personally stay again. Life's a Beach is perfect!

Cozy Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this cottage for a few days. The owner has thought of everything and tried to make our stay as convenient as possible. They were there to greet us and give us a tour. They then left us alone to enjoy our stay. It is very quiet and clean and the location is great! I was visiting family and planning an anniversary party for next year and it couldn't have been any better. I look forward to the next visit in this cozy cottage on the bay.

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time staying in this little cottage. We were only in town for a short trip and this worked perfectly. We were able to go to the beach, walk to dinner and explore the downtown without having to drive everywhere. Highly recommend.

Great choice!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with my husband and two kids, brought our two dogs also. The place was as described, clean, tidy and had everything that we could possibly need on vacation. Within walking distance to the beach and was very dog friendly, our dogs were very welcome and enjoyed themselves on the dog-friendly beach. The fenced in backyard was very convenient as well as the outdoor shower setup. Beach was clean and we had it all to ourselves. Found some locally owned restaurants within walking distance. House has a nice big front yard for the kids to play. Nona and Kevin we very accommodating and so friendly. We plan on coming back again for sure. Perfect spot for those seeking peace and quiet. Many attractions within driving distance.

'Life's A Beach' Cottage is walking distance to many restaurants, shops and churches and only a short drive to local casinos, golfing, tennis, boating, bike trails antique shopping, swimming, and fishing. There are many festivals and fun things to keep you occupied during your visit. Second Saturday (the Second Saturday of each month) is always a blast with downtown streets blocked off to accommodate bands, various entertainment and vendors set up to market their local art or products. Bay St. Louis was named one of the top ten small beach towns in the country, in 'THE BEST LITTLE BEACH TOWNS' in Coastal Living Magazine, September 2010 and also one of Budget Travel's 'Coolest Small Towns', for 2013. There is an app you can download to your smart phone to help you explore Old Town. Come see us, you can stay busy or do absolutely nothing.

New Orleans is less than an hour away with: Historic French Quarter, French Market, World War II Museum, Aquarium of the Americas, IMAX Theater, Audubon Zoo, hundreds of restaurants with as many types of cuisine... don't forget the beignets at Café Du Monde'. If you travel east to Gulfport/Biloxi, there are malls, a water park, a Children's Museum, Beauvoir (Thomas Jefferson's Biloxi home), Mad Potter Museum, more casinos, plus more. Take the boat to Ship Island for a nice day on the water and fun in the sun. Biloxi has Maritime & Seafood Museum, Sunset cruises on the Biloxi Schooners & many other possibilities, just check out the listings or Google 'Chamber of Commerce' in each city, you can ask the owner for suggestions.
