About Jody Little or Angie Jones

Blackberry Preserve is owned by four friends, one is a NC native and Appalachian State University Alumni, the other 3 came to NC by choice and fell in love with the NC high country.

Jody Little or Angie Jones purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Jody Little or Angie Jones chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Out of our love for the NC Mountain High Country came a search for the perfect mountain getaway to share. The Blackberry Preserve is a blessing to us and dream come true. In this home traditional cabin feel intersects with modern convenience and the perfect location. Nestled among tall trees and Rhododendron our cabin's private lot feels secluded, yet it's close to all the best the NC High Country has to offer. We instantly fell in love with this cabin, the area surrounding it and the people who so warmly welcomed us to Blackberry. We want visitors to the Blackberry Preserve to find peace and solitude among the natural beauty that surrounds our mountain retreat. Our sincere hope is that your stay will serve to refresh and renew your spirit.

What makes this cabin unique

While Blackberry Preserve was the perfect home away from home when we found it, we've added personal touches and modern conveniences to make it as perfect for you as it is for us.

3rd Annual Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Blackberry Preserve is the most wonderful place to stay for our weekend get-a-way. There is plenty of room and close enough to town that you don't have far to drive for shopping or eating. We will be back again next year and hopefully many years to come. It feels like home when you walk in the door. It's so comfortable, nicely decorated and well stocked with everything you need.

Spacious, beautiful home! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for our stay. The hot tub was wonderful, and the furniture comfortable. We relaxed and slept, and felt rested by the time it we had to go back to reality. We plan to return!!!

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! We always worry about the drive in case of snow or ice, but this house is located conveniently off of 321 and very easy to get to! Beds are comfy and bathrooms nice. Owners were super nice! Would definitely return!

Fun things to do and see while in the NC High Country…

Bolick & Traditions Pottery on 4443 Bolick Rd. Lenoir, NC Janet and Mike Bolick operate Traditions Pottery and Lou Owen Bolick operates Bolick Pottery .4 miles from Blackberry Preserve; both of these are well worth the visit! Tell them we sent you!

Visit The Blowing Rock 2.5 miles away from Blackberry Preserve.

The Blue Ridge Parkway via HWY 321 is only 4.8 miles away! One of the highlights that is very close is Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, the best way to get there is via 321 to Main St. Blowing Rock to HWY 221. Appalachians By Horseback is a wonderful way to see this area, contact them to schedule a trail ride.

Canyons Restaurant is the best place to watch the sun set over the Blue Ridge. Canyons will be the first restaurant you come to as you drive into Blowing Rock and is 2.6 miles up HWY 321.

In Blowing Rock you’ll find several great restaurants: Foggy Rock and Woodland’s BBQ. Also, for fine dining try Twigs, The Best Cellar and The Speckled Trout.

Downtown Blowing Rock, 4.3 miles away, is great for shopping, dining and strolling.

The closest place for a latte or coffee is Bald Guy Coffee on Main St. in Blowing Rock. If you’re on the Campus of ASU try Conrad’s or you can get Conrad’s Coffee and Espresso at King St. Creamery & Coffee, downtown Boone.

Appalachian Ski Mountain is 7.2 miles from Blackberry Preserve and you’ll find skiing, ice skating.

Family fun is just 7.4 miles away at Tweetsie Railroad, our state's first theme park, opened in 1955 and still thrilling all ages. Tweetsie features train rides by coal-fired engines built in 1917 & 1943. the 200 acre park is open April-November with restaurants, shops, it's own carnival, and musical performances, check their calendar for events and hours or call 800-526-5740.

The New River, Watauga River, Wilson's Creek and the Nolichucky River provide opportunities for tubing, paddling & whitewater rafting trips. All level trips on all four waterways can be scheduled through Wahoo’s Adventures, 8.2 miles from us, call 800-444-RAFT.

Appalachian State University is 11.5 miles up HWY 321.

Visit the Daniel Boone Inn for the best in traditional family style dining, just past the ASU campus before you reach King St.

A visit to the High Country isn’t complete without a trip to downtown Boone, specifically, King St.

On W. King St. you’ll find the Mast General Store. Head out HWY 221 to Valle Crucis to visit the original Mast General Store and Annex 18 miles away from Blackberry.

Hawksnest offers Ziplining and Snow Tubing and is 18 miles from Blackberry Preserve. Hawksnest is year round and children as young as 8 can zip. The oldest zipper we know of at Hawksnest was was 86...it's never too late!

Speaking of ZIPLINING!! In addition to Hawksnest there are two others, Screaming Ziplines and Sky Valley Zip Tours that feature tree canopy tours of about 2 hours.

If you’re adventurous try The Gamekeeper near Yonahlossee, just up HWY 221 going toward Banner Elk, it will be at 3005 Shull’s Mill Rd., if you plan to go it’s always best to have a reservation, the number is 828-963-7400. We love this place, most of the food is locally sourced! Try the Ostrich! They also have Sunday Brunch, 11-2.

Grandfather Mountain is another must see and is 19.2 miles from us! Just follow the signs, as you travel up 221 North it’s 2 miles north of Linville. At Grandfather you 'll find an animal preserve that features a bald eagle habitat, bears, deer and other animals. With a 360 degree view of the mountain, the mile high swinging bridge is even wheelchair accessible.

If you have time, visit the Linville Caverns at 19929 US 221 North in Marion.

Linville Gorge Wilderness area, also called the Grand Canyon of North Carolina is totally amazing and a great place to hike, with 39 miles of trails…my favorite hike is the Linville Falls trail (2.8 miles) some of The Last of the Mohicans was filmed at Linville Falls.
