We fell in love with the Port Austin area 7 years ago while camping. The memories created with our children will last our lifetime and theirs. We purchased Lynda's Lodge to continue creating memories with our family and hope you enjoy the area as much as we do creating your own memories.
Lynda purchased this cabin in 2013
The knotty pine walls and hard wood floors remind me of my grandparents cabin. This cabin, however, has modern amenities.
This cottage was wonderful. Just what we needed. Very clean and very well stocked. Lynda was very attentive and helpful. It was wonderfully relaxing and very peaceful and very quiet. (sometimes for this city girl a little to quiet.- I had to turn on the tv LOL)
My wife and I stayed three nights here this past weekend and we loved it. The cottage is comfortable, has everything one could want for a weekend away and, has that up north feel that you just can't beat. The cottage itself comes well stocked. There were plenty of linens, towels and, blankets for our stay. The kitchen was also well appointed. All of the basics are there and every worked well (dishwasher, microwave, cooktop, fridge, etc.). There is even a washer and dryer for you to use. As for the layout, there is plenty of room at the cottage. There is one larger master bedroom with a queen bed, large closet and a door wall to the back deck. There are also two smaller bedrooms with single beds. These two bedrooms share a jack/jill bath with a stand up shower. Perfect for the kids. The living room, family room and sun room are all open to each other and offer plenty of room for the family to spread out. The view of the lake from the sun room is unbeatable. We spent our mornings in the sun room under a blanket drinking coffee and watching the waves roll in. Simply perfect!
The location of the cottage is perfect. It is set back from the road and offers plenty of parking. It is also about 2 miles from downtown Port Austin, convenient when you need to run into town for supplies. We used the bike path on the side of the road and rode our bikes into town, super convenient. There are two state parks and a bunch of smaller parks very near the cottage. We visited many of them during our stay. If you get a clear sky at night and enjoy star gazing, check out the Dark Sky Preserve at Port Crescent State Park, amazing starry skys. The towns of Caseville, Bad Axe, Grindstone City and Harbor Beach are all with a 20-30 minute drive. If you are planning on visiting them this time of year, check before you go as many of the local shops/attractions are closed for the season.
Our favorite activity was grabbing a pizza and growler fill up from the Fireside Inn and enjoying the sunset by the fire pit at the cottage. The pizza was very good and the sunsets were amazing. Dinner at the Farm Restaurant, and zombie paintball at the Grindstone Golf Course, were close seconds. This cottage is the perfect spot for a couple, or family, looking for a nice, quite get a way weekend. We could not have asked for more.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful!!!!
Cozy, roomy, peaceful, relaxing environment. Couldn't ask for more!!
My family and I had an outstanding time at Lynda's cabin recently. There is nothing more relaxing to me than the sound of Lake Huron's waves breaking on the beach as heard from the cabin's large deck just a few feet away. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather for enjoying swimming (never felt Lake Huron warm like this before!), kayaking, bird and boat watching, sunsets, and bonfires with moonbeams and the Milky Way. The cabin took care of every need and more, we did not want our stay to end. We look forward to possibly returning again someday.
We stayed at Lynda's cabin July 29 to August 5th, 2016. It was very nice. Well taken care of, well supplied with the essentials! The view is great, loved listening to the splashing of the waves at night! Kids loved the WiFi, but most of all she had board games and cards, late in the evening that's what my girls and I did!!
The only minor issue I had was that there was TONS of ants, they were coming in the kitchen, but when I sprayed bug spray, no more to be seen inside, but outside there were lots climbing on everything. Not a big deal cause you are outside to enjoy nature, and that is exactly what you get, and it was fun!!
The location is perfect in case you needed something, the town Port Austin is very close, and it isn't too far from Caseville (we visited both :) )
The description of the listing is spot on, and the property was clean and well-maintain! I would recommend this place to all of my friends and relatives. If you had a question about something, Lynda answered us right away!! Very good customer service!!!
Thanks again for letting us rent your place, didn't want to leave!!!!
