Beautiful suites at the Victoria Falls Guest House!!

  • 5 of 5

Now this house is a little different than most on VRBO that I have stayed at. It is a beautiful Victorian two story house that has 5 complete suites all with their own entrances, simply amazing. I came with a group of 4 couples and all of us enjoyed our 2 day stay here.

We had great weather while at the house and all of us enjoyed sitting on the front porch and having a nice chat while sipping on wine and all the snacks we brought.

What's nice about Victoria falls guest house is that when we decided to go get something to eat we just left our cars at the house and just walked up the main St. which was just down the block. We went to several restaurants in the area and we never had a bad meal in any of them. One of our favorites was the Hume Hotel. We ate there twice!!

So if you are looking for a real nice, clean, very interesting place to stay in Nelson look no further than the Victoria Falls Guest House Suites.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Victoria Falls Guest House for almost a month. I enjoyed a warm welcome when I arrived and any concerns that I had during my stay were promptly addressed. The kitchen was adequate for most cooking needs. Also great location close to many good restaurants! Only concern was the thin walls, which provided little privacy between suites. There was also central heating, which doesn't allow much in the way of individual temperature control, but there are windows to allow fresh cool air in the spring months. Appreciated the access to laundry services during my stay. Overall a great stay and I would definitely return.

A weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful century house close to great restaurants and a very fun town. For anyone on a powder tour this would be a great place to stay and ski White Water. Park the car and walk to down town. Walk the back streets and check out the houses. The beach is a drive but well worth going to. Very helpful owners. We will be back.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

The Victoria Falls Guest House is a wonderful place to stay. My 20 year old son and I stayed for two nights in the Falls Suite in April. It was clean, bright, and homey. There was even coffee in the cupboard (very important!). The listing description is very accurate. We loved being close to all the Nelson action on Baker Street and spent our time getting to know downtown as well as the Selkirk campus on the east side of town. Great running trails, good walking and wonderful food. We will recommend the Guest House highly and we would certainly return. Although we didn't cross paths with Cathy-Anne and Kelly, we communicated easily with them via email and text and felt well cared for!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for staying with us Marla! We're glad to hear that you felt that our description/pics of the guesthouse were accurate, that's very important to us. The coffee is a necessity ....I totally agree! haha We are sorry not to have met you in person as well. That is something that is often hard to finagle as people seem to be out and about enjoying themselves when they are here, but we always take that as a good sign that you are enjoying yourself! Hopefully you will come back and we will connect! Cheers, Cathy-Ann & Kelyy

Lovely spot for a family to stay in Nelson

  • 4 of 5

Our family of five (3 kids age 7 and under) stayed recently in the Baker Suite for two nights. It was a perfect set up for us - mom, dad and 2 year old in the bedroom (pack n play we brought fit in the closet) plus two older girls slept in bunk beds in the front room. The kitchen is small but there were so many good restaurants in Nelson we didn't end up cooking any meals there. It seemed adequately stocked for cooking had we needed it. The suite is tastefully decorated to fit the style of the house (old Victorian) and the beds were comfortable. The large porch and big garden area were hits with our kids. There was a big downside to the accommodation and is the reason we're giving it 4 instead of 5 stars - it was so, so hot! The weather was over 90 degrees the two days we stayed and the Baker Suite faces west so got lots of hot afternoon sun. When we first arrived there was only one fan but the owners quickly responded to our request for two more (less than an hour). That helped but it was still so hot. We tried opening the windows to let in the cooler evening air but there are no screens on the windows and there were mosquitoes so we had to close them. In the morning when we opened the windows a yellow jacket flew in, even when we had the curtains pulled across the windows. I understand from talking to the locals that Nelson can be quite hot a lot of the summer, so it seems fair to recommend to the owners to either add screens to the windows or put in a window A/C unit so it can be adequately cooled. Otherwise we loved everything about the Baker Suite - fantastic location at one end of downtown, nice and quiet, lovely house and garden, helpful and responsive owners.
