Why Amy and Ranie chose Wyoming

When we bought this house it's Victorian-style trim and front porch gave us a vision it's potential. Renovating small, old, unmaintained houses into modern, livable spaces is our passion and this little shogun house was just calling out for a new lease on life.

What makes this house unique

When we purchased 807 S 2nd Street it was in rough shape. Originally built in the 1880s to house Union Pacific railroad workers, the house had fallen into disrepair. We renovated it ourselves--from the roof to the foundation--keeping the character of an old shotgun rail house while adding modern amenities and giving the house a second life as a comfortable space to enjoy Laramie's south side.

Very nicely renovated. Has everything you need for two adults and a dog. Amy and Raine are very thoughtful and kind hosts.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

When I travel with my dogs, I do not look for aesthetics. I want a dog door, fenced yard, and surfaces they won't mess up. But, boy was I bowled over when I opened the door to a beautiful, comfortable, exquisitely renovated house--with all my requirements as well--all within walking distance of my favorite bookstore (2nd Story) and the chocolate store next door. I'll be back!

Quirky little house

  • 4 of 5

A well equipped, comfortable house very close to all amenities and shops in Laramie. The weather during our July stay was very hot and Aircon would have been a benefit at night, this is the only reason for it not getting 5 stars. Amie & Ranie were very helpful and responsive before, during and after our stay.

Owner's Response: Oh no! Our first four star review! As charged, and as with the majority of houses in Laramie, our place does not have central air conditioning. While the sun can feel warm at 7200 feet, our average high temperature this July according to NOAA was 78 degrees F (the maximum in July this year was 88) and nighttime lows averaged to 43. For most people simply opening two windows at night and closing them during the day makes the house cool enough for sleeping. We also provide a small evaporative cooler and fans. Our apologies if things got a little too warm.

Great location, comfortable, and well appointed.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed about one month and thoroughly enjoyed our stay during that time. The house is located just a few blocks' short walk from Laramie central and was both quiet and cosy. Our hosts accommodated our wishes and we will stay again when we are back in Laramie.

Cute little getaway - well appointed, great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog and I spent a weekend here and loved it! The kitchen was well appointed, the bed was comfy, and Roux the Dog enjoyed the little fenced-in backyard (although she still doesn't quite understand how dog doors work... oh well, she's a golden and we love her). We really admired the renovation job - the owners have a clear knack for interior design and livable space.

The location is great - just a couple blocks from two parks and the historic downtown. The train didn't bother us at all (I think it's in a quiet zone because I don't remember hearing any train horns, just a subtle rumble as trains pass a few blocks away).

Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I & our 2 dogs spent a quick weekend at Amy & Ranie's house in downtown Laramie. Amy was great to deal with and made the rental process very easy. The home is adorable and in such a perfect location downtown. It was clean, cozy and well furnished with towels and linens, and a full kitchen! They went above and beyond and had items that were well thought out (postcards, stamps, local trail maps, etc.) that made our experience that much more enjoyable. It is in a great location with many restaurants, shops, etc..within walking distance and just a short drive to downtown and most other attractions. Pet friendly was a huge plus as well!

This was a great experience, we would definitely stay at this little Victorian home again when we are in the area! Thank you!

Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming, with numerous sporting and multicultural events. Laramie also offers seemingly endless recreation opportunities, from hunting and fishing to hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling.

The house is 3 blocks from downtown, the hub of Laramie. Excellent places to eat (and drink) include Altitude's Chophouse and Brewery, Sweet Melissa's (vegetarian, and also has the original pre-1900 bar from Hartville, WY), the Crow Bar, The Library Bar and Grill (1.5 blocks), Thai Spice, Anong's, Night Heron Books (and excellent breakfast/lunch!), Coal Creek Coffee, and the list goes on and on.
