Secluded, all the basics are covered, for the price an adequate value.
We used it as a base for our forays into Jasper NP, therefore a bit of a drive each day. Nearby Valemount BC has a couple of good restaurants and a nice little brewery.
The Canadian Rockies
We spent 4 nights here and used it as a home base for touring and hiking in the Jasper area. It is a good 75 minute drive back east to Jasper, and a 20 minute drive to Valemount for grocery shopping. We were a little skeptical on our drive onto the property (the driving directions were very easy to follow) as it was well set off the road and seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. The house was very interesting, but very accommodating to our family of 7. The beds were very comfortable, and there was lots of room for our 2 and 5 yr old grandchildren to run around and burn off their excess energy after our car rides. The compositing toilets were not an issue, even with tour young ones. We didn't spend much time outside exploring the property because of the mosquitoes. Two large jugs of water for drinking were supplied for us as the water from the faucets, though potable, was very mineral tasting. No dishwasher in the house, but there was adequate dish ware for us. Used the gas grill on the back deck with no problems. Did see the resident bear roaming in the back yard, so that was pretty cool. We really didn't spend much time in the house during the days as we drove into Jasper twice for hiking and touring there, and spent the third day exploring the salmon run, and the hike up to Kinney Lake near Mt Robson (only a 15 minute drive and the highlight of our hiking and photos). Plenty to do in the area, but does involve some time in the car. Highly recommended!!
Relaxing property near Mount Robson Provencial Park
The cabin is rustic, functional, and in a secluded location. Floor to ceiling windows in the living room allow for lots of natural light. Plenty of room for our party of 7. Kitchen is well stocked and beds are very comfortable. Compost toilets were not an issue for us (clean, no odor), although our friends were initially skeptical, but quickly adapted and even joked about them afterwards. Great communication. Easy check-in and check-out. Wonderful place to relax after a long day exploring the area. If you are looking for a spot to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place for you.
Perfect Place for Rest, Relaxation and Adventures.
What a perfect place to start our summer. We met family members there to celebrate the end of the school year. Our family of 7 spent 8 wonderful days at this spacious home. There is an art studio where my niece and sister in law spent time painting. The dining area was large enough to have us all sit around the table for family meals. Lots is windows give natural light thoughtout the kitchen, dining area and kitchen. There is a space upstairs to have a movie night. Outside we spent time sitting around the fire pit in the evenings, In the mornings we sat on the deck listening to the birds sing. There are many places to visit in the area from numerous hiking trails for all levels, white water rafting, river float tours, museums and Jasper only an hour away. We hope to be guests at the home again. It truly is a home away from home with a blessing of nostalgia. If you are looking for adventures or rest and relaxation this place is for you.
Thanks for the wonderful memories,
The Bzdel and Sesula Family
Thank you again, Charlene! I hope you are able to come again with your family. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Very accommodating and responsive property owner!
When we arrived at this property with our 1 year old daughter, we noted that it wasn’t baby friendly (our daughter could not crawl around due to compost toilet, bugs, unfinished wood areas, etc). We could not see this in advance from the photos on VRBO. We brought our concerns to the property owner who was extremely understanding and kindly agreed to let us leave two days early.
Baby friendliness issue aside, the property has beautiful views of trees and wildflowers. There are many beautiful hikes close by. If you are interested in environmentally friendly initiatives, this cabin has a compost toilet (indoor outhouse). The cabin is huge and can accommodate very large groups of people.
Be sure to bring mosquito spray if you come at this time of year!
So beautiful and relaxing!
My family of four, and another family of three spent three nights at this cabin. The location is beautiful with near by (but not too close to affect your sleep) train tracks, and a river within walking distance with some beach type areas to sit and enjoy the water.
The men were able to drive up the mountains to ski-doo without a huge drive.
The house is quite large, and even with 7 people it never felt crowded.
The property itself is quite large with lots of room for kids to run around outside.
The views are stunning! My son is already asking when we can go back!
The property is located near many spectacular natural areas and is wonderfully situated for the outdoor enthusiast and nature lover. It is 15 minutes from Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies and 1 hour from Jasper National Park.
Some local sights/activities within 15 min. from property not to be missed are:
Jackman Flats Provincial Park
Mt. Robson Provincial Park
Chinook salmon run (late summer)
Cranberry Marsh and Starratt Wildlife Management Area
local hiking trails
heli-skiing and heli-hiking
Mt. Terry Fox Provincial Park
Robson Valley Music Festival
