Enjoy the Best Beach on the Island! If you dont know, ask someone who does - the south end (the 60 and 70 blocks) represent the skinniest part of the island (read as the beach and bay are very close to every house!) and represents one of the most kid friendly neighborhoods on the island!! You have beach entry at the end of your street with life guards...which is where you can go swimming (and you can only go swimming in front of the life guard stands which are placed in 4-5 block increments).

Bottom unit (first floor) duplex condo located 1.5 blocks to Avalon’s best beach. This four bedroom, two bath unit faces south to take advantage of southern breezes, bright sunshine and a setting sun. The unit offers a great room with comfortable living area, spacious dining area and kitchen with pass through and breakfast bar. The floors are wall to wall carpeted in the living room, dining area and hallway. The four bedrooms are sizeable and the unit has two hall baths, one of which has additional passage door to create a master suite. The bright, second floor unit has a full size washer, dryer and private (not shared) outside shower. The southern facing deck is expansive, partially covered and a fabulous place to sun bathe or enjoy an evening cocktail. The unit has been entirely, freshly painted and the new owners continue to add decor and modern items to augment your vacation experience (including 42’ flat screen, WiFi, MP3 player, high end coffee maker and many soothing, seashore accents). This area of Avalon is among the quietest on the island, close to the beach, within walking distance to Brady’s Hoagie Dock, Armacost Park (a bird sanctuary and children’s playground) at 71st-74th St and a stroll or bike ride to Stone Harbors’ 96th Street shopping area. You'll appreciate the private off street parking (2 cars) and private outside shower on the side of the home. If your family or summer vacation party is large, consider also renting the second floor unit (VRBO #557076) which has the same footprint with four bedrooms and two baths.

Comfortable house; great location!

Our family really enjoyed our stay in Avalon. The house was homey and comfortable. Brendan and Jen were attentive, wanting to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Will do it again!

Decent property, nice owner- but don't forget your linens & towels

House was nice- huge deck which we really enjoyed. The only downside to the rental is that you must bring your own sheets & towels- which, for an off- season short stay, seems ridiculous to me. We rented the home (upstairs & down) for my daughters wedding weekend, and the last thing I needed was to buy sheets for bed sizes that I don't have at home- (4twins, 1queen & 1king per unit). House has 2 outside showers, in addition to 2 inside showers per unit- which was awesome. Overall, the house served our needs well & Brendan was easy to work with.

2nd stay, great location and setup for us

This was our second year staying in this location. We rented downstairs, our friends rented upstairs. This setup is perfect for us. Highly recommended if you have a bigger group, as you can stay sort of separately, but close by, and all end up at the beach together very easily. The location is wonderful, we loved being able to walk to the beach and the bay so quickly. We would love to stay here again.

Avalon Family Beach Spot

Close to beach and things to do but not so close as to be disturbed by the bustle of night activity. Being on a side street keeps traffic noise down. Nice front porch and plenty of off street parking. Mid Island means you are halfway to everything.. Bike lanes one block away lead to either end of the island.

This is a very good location for a family vacation. Walking distance to playground. Cape May Zoo (15 minutes by car) is a great family day.

Older but well kept. Owner very acccessible, responsive and friendly. Excellent value.

Another PERFECT vacation here!

This was our 3rd (maybe 4th?) summer vacation staying here and again, couldn't have been more pleased. The downstairs unit is just as beautiful and comfortable and clean and "has everything you need" as upstairs (we've stayed in both units). The owners were there and are, as usual, lovely, accommodating, friendly and go well out of their way to be sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. Can't say enough nice things about the house and the owners - BOTH are a gem!

Excellent family vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. We have four young children, and also were staying with my parents. Friends, also traveling with the grandparents, rented the upstairs unit. For us, this somewhat separate but in the same place arrangement was perfect. Walking to the beach each day was wonderful, and we also enjoyed our walks around the quiet neighborhood and to look at the sunset over the bay. There is a nice playground within an easy distance, and a hoagie store just a few blocks away. It is true, as some of the other reviews mention, that some things could be updated. However, everything works well, and is clean, and is pleasant. And if you have little kids like us, it's comforting to know the tables and cabinets are not brand new, and those that are newer have an aged look - a little extra wear is not a problem. I use this same strategy in my own home. Also, unlike some places we have stayed, there are not little decorative items all over the place for your little people to get into. The paint colors and wall decor, etc., add plenty of beach-house feel without being a hazard. My six year old, watching me type, wants me to say it was the best vacation house ever. For us, right now, I think he's right. We're planning to rent again next year. Thanks!
