Please text (865) 253-4626 several hours before your arrival with your cabin name for the most recent lockbox code and cleaning schedule. We are flexible on check-in and check-out times. Usually check-in is at 4pm but you can come in as soon as it is cleaned. Usually check-out is at 10am but we can often arrange a later time.

Pet Fee: Pets are welcome. Please add $48 to the total for the pet fee.

About Edward Bates

We have completed a Revolutionary, 4-part business plan.

Originally, we built these cabins 22 years ago and rented them for $99.00 a night. We quickly developed a loyal clientele who returned year-after-year and sometimes several times a year. We were packed. We then changed to a management company which raised the prices and added extra fees and we lost our loyal clientele from the '90s.

Now, here's our Revolutionary, 4-Part Business Plan.

First, we created a product that is much better than it was in the '90s. We completely restored the cabins to a condition even better than when they were new. Also, we reengineered the road to meet the highest city standards. Finally, we installed WIFI and 2-LED HDTVs in each cabin, one 50' in size.

Second, we removed the trees in front and beside the cabins to create, arguably, the best 180 degree view of the Great Smoky Mountains anywhere.

Third, we decided not to require that the guests put the typical $100.00-$500.00 security deposit, purchase $39.00 insurance policy, or even a submit a credit card number! Everything's on the honor system! That's why the final bill is so low. The honor system is working. Not one item has been stolen or broken!

Finally, we made the most Revolutionary move. We fired our management company, listed our cabins with VRBO and slashed prices LOWER than in the '90s! Most nights are offered at $98.00! As a result, we have booked over 1,000 nights in the past 3 months and received over 80 5-Star Reviews!!! We are developing a new, loyal clientele that is already rebooking for next year. This allows us to spend less time marketing and more time continuing to improve the property to the highest standards possible.

Our corporate mission is the same as the Apple and Disney Corporations: to offer a great product at a great price and make people happy. Our 40+ 5 Star Reviews and repeat clientele show that its working. Please join our family of friends who vacation with us over and over.

Why Edward Bates chose East

The Great Smoky Mountains are our great love and passion. We believe you will fall in love with them too. The greatest compliment we have received on the property has come from about a dozen guests over the past three years who have asked, 'Is this a part of the National Park?' The boundary between our Property and the National Park is almost indistinguishable. The photos are real and not retouched. Our forest appears to be contiguous with the National Park. We truly have one of the best views and one of the best locations in America.

What makes this cabin unique

Alpine Vista is only 38.2 miles from Harrah's Casino in the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina.

Anniversary trip

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed in one of the cabins on this ridge. Last time we stayed in Spectacular Vista and this time in Alpine Vista. The two cabins are nearly identical but the view is slightly better from Alpine Vista. It is by far the best view I've had from any cabin I've rented in the area and I've rented quite a few. The owner was very nice and attentive to our needs. The cabin was clean and comfortable. There were a couple minor maintenance issues eluded to in the previous review but they don't affect the stay and at this price I find it hard to complain. It is a little hard to get into the dryer to get your clothes in and out due to the tight opening but that isn't a deal breaker either. The gravel road is bumpy but it's short and is not scary at all. I definitely recommend the cabin and would stay again.

A bit of a let down

  • 2 of 5

The view is great and the deck is private. It's easy to navigate around Gatlinburg on the back roads instead of being stuck in traffic on the main drag. The problem was the cleanliness. We unloaded our bags and I immediately put my hand into a sticky coke or coffee ring on the island (not a great start). While putting our groceries away I noticed the crumbs on the table cloth from the previous visitors as well. The kitchen floor was so sticky that I ended up mopping it myself with a wash cloth. The plates that were set out on the island still had food stuck to them. On our second day I grabbed a cup from the cabinet and it was stuck to the shelf...grabbed a second cup instead and it had dry coffee on the inside of it and on the lip. Cob webs and a fine layer of dust everywhere. Dead and dying wasps on the floor and window sill. The bathroom door does not latch shut. The back porch door doesn't have a metal catch so it would be incredibly easy for someone to break in and take all of your stuff. The wood around the hot tub is falling apart, broken and missing sections. If a little bit of effort was put into cleaning the cabin and fixing the little things it wouldn't have been bad. I'm not at all a picky person but there were too many things that were filthy and needing fixed to ignore. We paid a cleaning fee, so I expect a clean cabin. This is the 3rd cabin I've rented in the Gatlinburg area. The other cabins were great. I wouldn't stay at this cabin again.

Private, quiet and yet close to town

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a dog-friendly cabin in which to relax for a few nights and were quite pleased with this property. The only issue we had is that, both of us getting a bit on in age, we did not realize that the bed was upstairs and the only bathroom was downstairs! Other than that, the cabin was quite comfortable. When the hot tub stopped working during our stay, a text to the owner resulted in someone coming literally within minutes to reset the circuit breaker. It's a great place to sit back and enjoy the view....

Amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for our anniversary. Amazing view from the hot tub. We had water issues but was resolved with a phone call to the owners. Didn't get to use tub upstairs since the hot water ran out. We didn't mind since we had the hot tub in the porch! Very close to the main strip for tourist attractions and shopping. Recomend going to Dixie Stampede! Also always nice playing pool all day too! Would defiantly stay again!

Cozy Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Alpine Vista. For the price, it was a wonderful location and view. We were so close to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Smokies! We were able to do so much in just a few days because of the convenience. There were also notes left about the cabin that made it very easy to get acquainted. Ed was also very each to get in touch with. The only improvements would be if the bed were a little more plush. It wasn't uncomfortable but also not quite like a hotel bed either. The road up to the house was also gravel, not paved. This was a little intimidating at first in my little sedan. Wouldn't be a big deal in a larger vehicle. The hottub was a nice bonus. Overall, we probably would stay there again because it was a great value, was very secluded and was just what we needed for our budget on our Tennessee vacation!

Spectacular View!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Alpine Vista for four nights in late April/early May. The incredible view from the private deck was by far the best feature of this cabin. Other positive points worth mentioning: cute and spacious cabin; somewhat worn and dated but fairly comfortable and furnished with just about everything you could need. Great shower with plenty of hot water and good pressure. Nice fluffy towels. Comfortable bed. Fantastic hot tub on the deck which was the second greatest feature of the cabin (after the spectacular view). A four-wheel drive vehicle would be ideal for the ascent up the windy, gravel road up to this cute place, but we managed just fine in our non-four-wheel drive vehicle by dropping it down into 3rd gear. No problem. Very close to Gatlinburg; just a five minute drive into town. Also close to the Smoky Mtn National Park and all that it has to offer. Owner was very responsive prior to and during our stay. An overall positive experience.
