Lovely home by the sea!
This wonderful home provides us with the perfect vacation getaway! It’s spacious, spotlessly clean, well-equipped, comfortable, and situated in a charming town by the sea. The whole home is beautifully appointed; comfy beds, 2 full baths and 2 baths with showers as well as a powder room and a kitchen with anything that you would need, including lobster tools - which we make good use of! The upstairs porch swing is the perfect shady spot to relax. The beach is a short stroll down the street, but there is a parking pass and ample parking if you prefer to drive. If relaxing isn’t your cup of tea, then there are plenty of activities nearby to keep the family entertained. We’ve enjoyed Wednesday night free band concerts at the waterfront, the whaling museum in New Bedford, Heritage Museum & Gardens in Sandwich, whale watching & historic homes in Plymouth, and of course shopping at the cute General Store at the waterfront. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating and genuinely wish their guests to have a great stay. We plan to keep coming back!
Beautiful Home - Everything You Could Think Of There To Make Your Stay Perfect
I stayed here 3 days with my family of 6 (including 4 small children 6 and under) and two friends with families with small children. We were more than comfortable and had plenty of room for pack and plays and baby gear.
It's a short walk to the beach and a 20 minute drive to Edaville USA where we went to Thomas the Train land to make my 4 year old Thomas loving son's dreams come true!
Lynn and Rick are so hospitable and welcoming. There home is stocked with everything a traveler might need and they are so accessible for questions.
Perfect stay for wedding weekend!
My family (10 of us!) and I stayed at Lyn and Rick's beautiful house for my wedding weekend at the end of July. It was absolutely the perfect spot for all of us (ranging in age from 27 to 91!). Each bedroom was comfortable and had it's own bathroom which was a major plus! There was plenty of room for all of us and we all enjoyed gathering in the living room or the covered porch. The location to 'downtown" Mattapoisett was also great- a short walk to the water right at the end of the street! My bridesmaids and I also got ready here on the morning of the wedding. The house has a lot of natural light which was great for our hair and makeup artists. The house is also beautifully decorated so it was great for both indoor and outdoor photos with my bridal party and family. Lyn and Rick could not have been any more inviting or accommodating throughout our entire stay. We practically felt like family by the time we left! I would absolutely recommend staying at Lyn and Rick's. We cannot wait to come back and visit Mattapoisett! Thank you for such a wonderful wedding weekend, Lyn and Rick! You helped make it truly memorable!
Treatment by owner affects review
The home is lovely and walking distance to the wharf but, sadly, the A/C was out on the main level of the home. Having A/C was one of our pre-requisites for rental. Owner told us that the inside repair was done prior to our arrival on Saturday and exterior work would be done Tuesday. Some of us went to Maine on Monday and on our return trip we called the owner to see about the progress of the repairs. She said that the repair would be done Wednesday. I asked about a partial refund since we had been without A/C on the main level for several days. I put the call on speaker so that my family could hear how she was attacking us and calling us complainers. Her attitude was defensive and hostile. On Wednesday she called my cell and awakened me threatening to call the police if I didn't get downstairs right away and answer the door. Stunned and hurt by her accusations that were totally unfounded, I went downstairs, still in my PJ's only to find out that my sister had already answered the door and the workmen had not requested entry into the house. Their boss called them and told them of another job that needed their immediate attention, so they left. We were dumbfounded about being treated so rudely by the owner. From that point on, we were all feeling cautious - wondering what irrational behavior would be exhibited next. It definitely put a damper on our stay.
At least two of the smoke alarms in the house were disconnected. When we informed her that they were not functioning, she insisted that they were working, as her husband had replaced the batteries. When we pointed out that they were totally disconnected she said that they had to because they were too sensitive and went off in the middle of the night. The A/C repairmen finally came on Friday, our last full day at the house, and informed us that owners were required to have functioning smoke alarms in the rental.
On the positive side, there's plenty of room in the kitchen and lots of utensils, plates, etc. We loved sitting and rocking on the porch upstairs and downstairs early in the morning. My nephew loved playing ping pong in the basement.
Her husband, also, was very nice and cordial. I do believe that if nothing is broken when a renter wants to stay at this property, the renter will be happy.
great house very comfortable
This is a great house and has great space for a big family! 5stars
A wonderful weekend !
Our son got married at Shining Tides and this home couldn't have been in a better location. It was close to the venue and also close to the hotel where our guests were staying. The home accomadated everyone in our family and was extremely comfortable. Everything we could possibly need was right there and Lynn & Rick couldn't have been more gracious! It definitely was a great choice ! I would highly recommend this home!
Thank you Lynn & Rick.
