About Kati

My husband and I moved to the Traverse City area about 10 years ago and fell in love with it immediately. I'm a native of Germany and my husband is from the Western end of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We decided to purchase this condo because of it's perfect location on East Bay. What a perfect place to enjoy everything that Traverse City and the surrounding area has to offer.

Kati purchased this condo in 2013

Absolutely Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Kati's condo for 3 nights over Memorial weekend and it was perfect. The location was great, just outside of the hustle and bustle of TC, but still just a few minutes drive into town. When we opened the door, we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, some dark chocolates, and a written welcome note on the chalkboard which we thought was a very nice first impression. The condo looked exactly as the pictures did with a very comfortable couch, chair and living area and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need, but as previous reviews stated, it is not equipped for preparing a huge meal, but hey, you are on vacation so how much cooking are you really going to do? We also loved the deck which was accessible from both the living room and the bedroom. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting out there listening to the birds and the stream which was just a few feet away. The condo sat at the end of one of the buildings which was nice because the large windows and the vaulted ceilings added a lot of extra natural light. The beach area had a lot to do for both adults and kids. There were plenty of lounge chairs, a hot tub, a pool and some games. One other thing that set our stay apart from other places that we have rented is the ease of accessibility of Kati whether via text or phone, she even called us a few minutes after check-in to make sure everything was okay with the condo and also called us once we left to make sure that our stay in TC was enjoyable. Our whole experience was perfect, from the condo, the location, the hospitality and we will definitely stay here again. I would recommend staying here next time you plan a trip to TC.

Beautiful, quiet condo

  • 5 of 5

My mom and were looking for a quick weekend getaway to do some shopping, eating and wine drinking! I found the Shores on Homeaway and we couldn't be happier with our stay. The condo was clean, beautifully decorated, and fully stocked with everything we could need for our weekend. A bottle of wine and chocolate were even waiting for us when we arrived. Kati was a great host and checked in with us before, during, and after our stay to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The condo was tucked away in a "woodsy" setting and the patio overlooked a stream. We enjoyed the quiet setting while still being only a few minutes away from all of Traverse City's amenities. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again soon!

Quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

The condo was located away from any noise and traffic. We could quickly go into Traverse City and also further north to Mackinac. The owner surprised us with a little welcoming gift and was easy to communicate with while there if we had any questions, which we didn't. Instructions left and travel brochures supplied all the needed information. The place was comfortable and the bed offered a good nights sleep. We would definiately recommend this property to others.

Communicating with Kati was a breeze . . .

  • 4 of 5

The condo was just as described! Sun-filled and airy. Clean, bright and tastefully decorated and comfortable. Kati was very prompt responding to all communications which were minimal because everything was so well organized to begin with. The wine and chocolate she left for us was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Lovely wooded views all around condo complex. Weather did not permit use of beach but beach area looked pleasant. Condo complex was well-maintained.

Only draw back was traffic noise from the two main roadways leading into the condo complex. Since the condo is located near the entrance of the complex traffic sounds are very noticeable when condo windows were open. Perhaps would not be an issue during colder weather when windows are closed.

Recommended restaurants: Red Mesa in TC, Pearl's in Elk Rapids, The Cove in Fishtown, The Cottage in TC

Owner's Response: Hi Terri. We are happy to hear that you had a great time in Traverse City and that you found our condo to be very comfortable and clean. We are sorry that you were bothered by the traffic noise when the windows were open. We are surprised to hear that. Most of our guests actually comment on the fact that our condo is peaceful and quiet. Since it is an end unit on the second (top) floor you rarely hear any other guests. It sounds like you expected the condo complex to be a bit more secluded. All of the Traverse City beachfront resorts and hotels are located on the very same road The Shores is on. Some traffic noise is to be expected with that. Our condo complex has the advantage of being heavily wooded and its location is a little outside of the hustle and bustle of Traverse City, which definitely cuts back on the Northern Michigan road noise. And you are right, you definitely don't want the windows open in the winter or in the summer (to keep the condo nice and cool). Thanks again for booking our condo and we hope to have you back as our guests again in the future.

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

For the past five years we have vacationed in Traverse City each August and this stay was my favourite. The decor was nice and contemporary, the condo was clean and spacious enough for us, the balcony was great for sitting and having a coffee while being surrounded by nature, the grounds were beautiful and well maintained, and the setting was tranquil. Although the condo is not right on the beach, the beach and pool were a very short walk away (one or two minutes). We used the pool every day without a problem, often watching the sun set from the pool. The sink/vanity is separate from the tub and toilet which is great. If I could change one thing it would be the bar fridge. A full size fridge would have been ideal, however, it wasn't a big issue. We just went to the grocery store a few times. We would definitely stay at Kati's condo again.
