About the property

6 Bedrooms/5 1/2 Baths with all amenities and central to all mid-Cape activities

This spectacular Federal style home combines all the features of a 21st century vacation retreat with the charm and character of a 19th century residence. It has been completely updated, including the removal of lead paint, and features central air conditioning, a granite and stainless steel kitchen, and 5 bedrooms (3 en suite) and 4 1/2 baths in the main house... plus a 1-bedroom (queen bed) studio apartment with full bath (shower) in the pool house. Furnishings throughout the home are an eclectic combination of antique and traditional, complimented by an assortment of fine art and accessories… much like you might find in your own home.

The main floor includes a formal dining room which comfortably seats 10 and connects to the sitting room off the kitchen, which has a sleep sofa, gas fireplace and TV. The recently renovated kitchen includes a Sub Zero refrigerator with ice-maker and stainless appliances plus a warming oven and 36 bottle wine refrigerator, all surrounded by granite counters and cherry cabinets. A large pass-through connects the kitchen to the very special family/sunroom which serves as the center of activity. The room features a built-in TV with DVD player and surround sound, a gas fireplace and a large 10-person table for most meals. And last but certainly not least is the oversized master bedroom with king bed and built-in chest in the walk-in closet. The master bath has a double sink, 2-person jacuzzi tub, large glass-enclosed walk-in shower and bidet.

The second floor offers 4 bedrooms and three baths. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and private baths, one of which includes a second jacuzzi, steam shower and bidet. The other two bedrooms each have twin beds and share a full bath off the hallway. A lower basement level has a large table for games, color tv, and seating. It serves as an excellent place for children to hang out, especially in the unlikely event that it might rain.

Exit the glass sliders or french doors leading to the wrap-around deck with barbeque grill fueled by natural gas (no tanks needed) and sunken hot tub for five. The oversized salt water pool with lap lane offers the perfect setting for swimming and sunbathing with plenty of seating (chairs, tables & lounges) when not in the pool. There are also pool floats, an outdoor shower, and hammock for two for your enjoyment. The little pool house has a screened porch with bistro table for two for those wishing to escape the sun. Steps to the second floor lead to a studio apartment, with queen bed, tv, extra seating, and kitchenette with coffee maker and microwave. Individuals wishing to leave the property, even if only for a little while, will discover shopping, golf, beaches, restaurants, boats to the Islands, and other activities just a short drive from your front door.

Beautiful spacious home

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home with old fashioned charm and updated amenities. With very large pool, hot tub, gourmet kitchen, gas grill outside, and plenty of space our group of 16 (8 adults and 8 children) had everything we needed for a weeklong stay. Everything was clean and when we had issues Marty was able to get someone in to fix the hot water in the pool house, or clean up the pool after a strong storm knocked a bunch of leaves in. We would definitely come back.

A warm and charming Colonial home full of very special amenities ...

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time we rented a home and were very lucky to find this amazing home! We stayed for the 4th of July week with 5 children and 7 adults for most of the time. The young adults stayed in the pool house and were joined for 2 nights by a couple of close friends and all loved their stay. The rest of us, including our miniature King Charles Spaniel, stayed in the main home. And, wow, it was so comfortable and beautiful and clean. We loved the heated saltwater pool and hot tub and the great room near the deck, where the kids happily ate and watched TV ... the grill is right outside on the deck so it made cooking easy and fun. The bathrooms were so luxurious and spacious and the master bedroom was amazing, too! The Old Kings Highway (Route 6A) where this home is located is charming and beautiful and we were about a mile from Gray's Beach where we went a couple of times (the boardwalk there is beautiful to walk on) ... for dining, we enjoyed the Primavera and Skipper Restaurants as well as Chapins and Oliver and Planks and took out food from Royal II and also from Il Parma Italian Table - all were great! We shopped for groceries at Petersons and the Dennis Public Market for nice prepared foods and snacks. There are 2 Stop and Shops nearby, too, for more variety. Ice cream from the Smuggler was yummy and we enjoyed a band concert on the Dennis town green nearby. We were surprised how well equipped the kitchen was there and found practically everything we were looking for when we cooked in. Honestly, it was often hard to leave the house because it was just so nice and beautiful and fun to stay and relax and play there. The rec room downstairs came in handy when some people had to do some work for a while, too, and needed a quieter place. There were extra linens provided in case we needed them, which was appreciated. Mr. Summerfield was very thoughtful and easy to reach with questions when we had them before our visit and told us more about the area when we met him upon our arrival. We would highly recommend this warm and inviting home if you love older, well kept homes with modern amenities as much as we do!

Well taken care of and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is a large house that easily accommodated our family of 4 adult couples, one toddler and one baby. There were plenty of paper towels and aluminum foil and plastic wrap in the kitchen as well as coffee and condiments of all kinds. The location is good and there is a convenience store in walking distance of the property. The couple who stayed in one of the bedrooms on the street side of the house were disturbed by the street noise (the house is located on a major thoroughfare). It was much too cool to even think about using the pool but we enjoyed the hot tub! The owner is very attentive and considerate.

Amazing family friendly home!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect home for a large family with kids. The house was beautiful, very well kept and updated. The kitchen area was fully stocked and large enough for everyone to come in and out. For the kids the main attractions were the heated pool and the Jacuzzi. We stayed here for 3 nights and didn't want to leave. Fully recommend it for families that want a weekend or week getaway from the city.

Family Mini Resort Experience

  • 5 of 5

Just got back home from the Mini Family Resort in Yarmouth Port. My wife and I spent the last week with our two daughters, son-in-law, significant other, and two grand daughters. There was lots of room to spread out and enjoy the accommodations. The oversized pool and hot tubs were really big hits. The house was in a great location to access the beaches and other activities. Since our relatives are in the Boston area we were able to host a cookout with my wife's family to celebrate her birthday. The total headcount for the day was 24. One of the youngsters had such a great time he hid in a closest to try and stay with us for the rest of the week. We were also able to host a smaller cookout for my family. If someone is looking for a nice restaurant we would recommend the Captain Linnell House in Orleans which my wife and I spent a quiet evening out by ourselves.

About Martin (Marty) Summerfield

I grew up in Brookline, MA and lived in the Greater Boston area for more than 50 years before moving to Cape Cod in 1999. However, my connection to the Cape goes back to the 1940's when my parents bought their first home in Yarmouth. My wife and I moved to the Cape to be close to my mother after my father died in 1997. It was also the perfect opportunity to 'slow down' and enjoy the history, charm and beauty of living on Cape Cod. I presently own and operate a small advertising agency/publishing company and work out of my home. In recent years, a significant portion of the business has involved publishing tourism-related guidebooks for several of the local/regional chambers of commerce, so if you're looking for specific information about almost anything on Cape Cod, I most likely can provide the specifics, and if not, I can point you in the right direction, especially if it pertains to restaurants. (We publish a dining guide to Cape Cod restaurants.)
