About Barbara Kelly

Hello and welcome to my cabin listing. My name is Barbara. I grew up in Hayward, WI, home of the World Record Musky, Lumberjack Championship and the Birkebeiner Ski Race. I currently live in the twin cities and work as an Interior Designer specializing in Kitchen and Bath design/build.

Barbara Kelly purchased this cabin in 1996

Why Barbara Kelly chose Northeast

Sweet is the word for this cute little cabin. I designed and built this cabin back in 1996 when the kids were just becoming teenagers and the rise of the machines was beginning. Wanting them to learn about and experience the outdoors as I had growing up, I intentionally designed the cabin for eating and sleeping to encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy the lake or trails. While the size of the cabin is small you will find that it is also very comfortable for indoor activities such as games or watching a movie. It's also a great place to get away from the crowds to relax and refresh.

What makes this cabin unique

The front porch with it's double seat is great for your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. Set the kids games up in the spacious front yard for hours or fun. There is a sandy wading area to the right side of the cabin that is perfect for lounging in and watching the little ones. A 60' dock provides ample room for your boat or toys.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed this cabin. The property has a spacious grassy area that my puppy enjoyed romping around in and it was great the lake was a short distance from the cabin. The dock was great to fish from and my kids were also able to swim. We were happily surprised that the cabin was equipped with kayaks! I forgot condiments for the food we brought and was thankful the fridge was stocked with condiments that we didn't have to make a 30 min run to Grand Rapids for forgotten items. We had s'mores on a bonfire outside! Made some great memories with family! Hope we can visit again! Thanks Barbara for quick responses to my inquiries!

Private cabin on a crystal clear chain of lakes

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) thoroughly enjoyed this cabins privacy, lakeshore beauty, and the Wabana chain of lakes. We stayed a week and filled our days in the yard, swimming, boating, fishing, evening fires, grilled meals on the Weber, Tall Timber days parade, pasties in Grand Rapids to name a few.

The lake chain is very clear and nice for swimming, boating, fishing and even fish right off the dock for the kids. We were also allowed to bring our dog along for an extra nominal fee and needless to say she thoroughly enjoyed the lake as well.

The cabin is as described, fairly cozy, but ample for the 4 of us and nicely finished. To note, it's probably 30 min drive to Grand Rapids which has all amenities one could need.

Very nice and clean! And a good mix of cozy and rustic!

  • 5 of 5

This property was a perfect up north getaway! We enjoyed the front deck, exploring and fishing the lakes! The water is super clear! And sandy for swimming! The big yard is great for outside games! We relaxed at night around the nice fire pit and listened to the ducks and loons! It was beautiful! Barb was nice too, answered all our questions and got back to us right way!

Beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

Great 2 bedroom. Very secluded although there are nearby cabins that were vacant. We had a very pleasant stay. The accommodations were very clean, cozy and nicely appointed. It was too cold to enjoy the lake much but will certainly consider coming back in the summer. Thanks, Barb!
