About the property

Fantastic Spot! Much better than a hotel room. Plus the property! Win! Win!

This is an amazing, Swiss Chalet style cabin. The property is literally on the San Juan River. Walk right from the front porch out to great fishing spots. Sleep like a baby with the river sounds all night long. Full services except for a washer and dryer. One Bedroom upstairs with queen bed and fold out queen bed in livingroom. The cute cabin has a covered porch and has an upper sun deck that overlooks the river and valley. It's a small cabin but very homie and efficient. Shower, sink and toilet in adorable bathroom.

Outside there is a fire pit, horseshoe pits, lawn areas, cottonwood trees. You'll have ave a bbq on the paved pad, ample seating at one of the picnic tables, and enjoy the sound of the river. Just gorgeous! The fishing is amazing in the San Juan as well. There is a great Bait and Tackle place called Fisheads within walking distance. They have a restaurant which is fantastic as well.

Extra charge for RV hook-ups.

Two night minimum.

Pets accepted on a case by case basis and a payment will be required in the amount of $50 if owner agrees to allow. Contact the owner about paying the pet fee and/or the RV and camping charges...

About Richard Johnson (Ritch)

Our family purchased the cabin in '94 and have fixed it up to the cute lil cabin on the river you see today. We love this spot! We think you will enjoy and love it as much as we do.

We love our Gingerbread or Swiss Chalet as some have called it. The cabin is the best spot on the river, an amazing spot! We think you will think so too!

Richard Johnson (Ritch) purchased this cabin in 1994

Why Richard Johnson (Ritch) chose San Juan County

Most beautiful spot on the river.

Reason enough!

So many wins! Great fishing just steps from the cabin, BBQ, picnic tables, fire pit, horseshoes and pits, grassed yards, huge trees, space to breathe, private and enclosed property, the hummingbirds, deer and other wildlife galore!

Last renter guy spotted a Bobcat the other day!

What makes this cabin unique

Fully set up and comfy Cabin; your own private property on the river. Need I say more?

Views, sounds, fishing, wildlife, peace and quiet, etc... Short drive to the fun of the lake. Bring your boat and toys or rent them at the marina. Boating, float fishing, fly and standard fishing, tubing the river, jet skiing, dirt bikes, ATV's, four wheeling, exploring ancient sites, and more, more, more.....

I'm sitting on the covered and screened in porch, writing this description. I'm listening to the river, some music and the camp fire in the fire pit crackling away.

We had a great time at this super cute place. We squeezed 6 people in but spent most of our time outside playing horseshoes and cards and fishing.

Wonderful!! Had a great time!!!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect...a little haven right down on the river. It was fully fenced and good for our dogs who also had a great time. Our Tala just laid on the grass in the shade and was in 7th heaven.

The location couldn't have been better and we enjoyed our morning coffee and evening cocktails looking out over the river and seeing deer and a blue heron, not to mention fish jumping all over the place. It was also walking distance to Abe's store, so we were able to just walk there if we needed anything. Only thing was that we couldn't run both upstairs and downstairs air conditioners at the same time, As much as it cooled down at night, though, just opening that upstairs door and putting a fan there worked out ok. It was also nice to have tv and internet. We had friends who stayed at Abe's but came over to fish and that worked out great. Would absolutely stay there again and with all the cottonwood trees, it will be beautiful in the fall. Gretchen and Ron Becker, Albuquerque, NM

Perfect Cabin for a family getaway.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our family. A large fenced in yard with room for our kids and dog to run around. It even had toys, swings, and wifi to keep the kids entertained. The property is right on the river so we were able to fish within eyeshot and earshot of the kids and dog.

The cabin is small but perfect size if you plan to spend most of your trip outside like we did. The best part is that all of the necessities were provided, including wood for the campfire, a gas grill and cooking utensils. All you really need to bring is food, clothes, and fishing rods for a wonderful trip. We caught all of our fish, including a 17" brown trout right off the property. We are already planning our next trip back.

Beautiful Stay

  • 5 of 5

This place is everything it claims and more. Beautiful setting, lovely property, cute cabin and helpful owner. We spent five days fishing, picnicking and relaxing by the river, and evenings sitting fireside and stargazing. It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect our whole stay but if it had not been, the cabin has great wifi and tv for those occasions. Really could not have been more perfect for our needs. We will be back!
