About Rarilee Conway

My husband and I have lived in Wilmington for 17 years. He owns and operates the AuSable River Two Fly Shop here in town. I am a 46er, have a real estate business and am crafty.

Rarilee Conway purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Rarilee Conway chose Wilmington

The cabin is a great escape back to the basic, simple life. You can hear wolves howl from the Wildlife Refuge down the road, ponies whinny and church bells ring in the distance. Experience a peaceful retreat. Sit on the covered porch and enjoy the fantastic view of Whiteface. Enjoy a cozy fire under the stars at night. Walk to "town".

What makes this cabin unique

Our property is an old farm. Our barn was the ice house and our workshop was the blacksmith shop. Where else can you wake up to ponies outside your window? We are available to share our recommendations and answer any questions. We want you to leave with great memories.

The cabin is peaceful, quiet and safe. The ponies add to a small farm feel. Lots of gardens and flowers. Owners fish, hike, bike and know the area well and what it has to offer. Off the beaten path places will be revealed. We are located really close to the Ironman bike loop and have easy access to Lake Placid and the high peaks.

A magic stay in a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabine itself is really cute and cozy. It is nice an authentic log cabine with history. We appreciated talking with the owner, always nice to learn about people where you travel. After a long hike, you will enjoy a comfortable bed and having a meal on the front porch while looking at poneys. We will definitely get back for the fall season. Thank you for everything!

Nice calm place to stay for hikers

  • 5 of 5

The place was very relaxing, I loved the farm animals, chickens and poneys, you have a campfire place and you are at 30 min of the Adirondacks. The place was clean and dont forget your lighter gaz if you want to make a bbq.

Too rustic for us

  • 2 of 5

Lovely host who was a good communicator. Ad said it was rustic but too rustic for us. Composting toilet was a turn-off when you go to actually use it. We were also encouraged to urinate outside to spare the toilet, which didn't make you want to wander outside, in that the place for that wasn't designated. No thanks. Place was very dark and the dust showered on us after the first shower. Was close to a busy road. We appreciated their commitment to being light on the environment but it was too much for us. Area is lovely with countless hiking trails and lakes. Just think they need to upgrade this accommodation. The price reflected the conditions, but we would not return.

Owner's Response: The cabin is authentic Adirondack cedar log construction and probably more than 50 years old. We do encourage peeing outside, easier for men, because it is better for the composting toilet and helps fertilize the forest. The toilet is a Sunmar self-contained compost toilet and can be researched online. Many guests find it a non-issue, but interesting. Our intent is to provide a peaceful and relaxing experience for visitors and would not expect anyone to stay if they were not comfortable.
