About the property

3 bedroom, 2 Bath, Lakeside View

All Mainers call their summer home on the lake 'Camp', if on the Ocean it is a 'Cottage'.

Our Camp can be lived in year round, it is on a full foundation and has a furnace.

The camp was built before a setback was required so the living room is just a few feet from the water and provides unique views of School House Cove and out onto the lake. The camp is so close to the water you can literally see fish swimming in the lake from the living room!

The Camp has a master bedroom en suite upstairs with a queen size bed, the bath has a large shower and double sinks. Down stairs on the main level are 2 more bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with bunkbeds. The living room has a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams a beautiful built in wood burning fireplace, new carpeting and 3 new couches.

What makes this cabin unique

Watch a pair of Loons glide across the cove through the early morning mist while hearing their melodic calls echo over the crystal clear lake.

Across the cove the Bald Eagle sits in the tallest Pine waiting to catch a fish to feed her brood.

The Lake is spring fed, 5 miles long 1 mile wide and is so clear you can literally see the fish swim.

Camp Sunshine offers fun, relaxation, and enjoyment to all!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has spent over 26 years summering on Beech Hill Pond. Camp Sunshine has become our first choice for stay. The camp is located on a dead end road with only 5 other camps beyond it, thus little traffic occurs; ensuring a peaceful location. Three couches, Direct T.V., internet, a kitchen table that can comfortably seat six, two bathrooms and three bedrooms ensure that there's plenty of room for friends and family to gather for good times; creating memories that will last a lifetime. Mike, the owner, is friendly and responds quickly, should you have any needs. Linda, who oversees the camp's rental, and her husband Steve are fun loving, kind, helpful and extremely hospitable. Grandchildren love playing in the little sandy cove in front of the camp while adults watch from the deck. In the evening, a camp fire in the fire pit, with firewood provided, offers a relaxing way to top off the day's activities, while Loons serenade on the lake. Thank you Mike, Linda, and Steve for sharing your little bit of heaven! ~Steve & Kim

Vacationland

  • 5 of 5

This camp fits right in line with Maine's title of Vacationland.

We felt right at home in this perfectly private family cabin. It was nice to meet our hosts and know they weren't far if we needed something.

It was challenging to remember to concentrate on cooking breakfast while gazing out the windows of the kitchen over the water and woods coming alive in the morning sun.

The windowed living room area looking over the water framed your first glimpse of sunrise. Leaving the windows open at night not only let the cool breeze through, but the beautiful sounds of the loons too.

The loons would be a great lullaby, if you weren't exhausted from playing at the lake all day! The dock was great and the kids were able to walk down the steps and play in the sand, everyday. We all loved feeding the ducks and probably have more pictures of ducks than of each other!

We saw loons, mergansers, ducks, an adult and a juvenile bald eagle... Right from the dock.

The property is located in a secluded, but not inconvenient location. The Beech Hill General store had just about anything you need, and Ellsworth is only a little further down the road.

Our hosts were great and were there if we would have needed them.

Lakeside Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This camp is ideally situated in a cove section of Beech Hill Pond (which is huge). Road to the camp is decent compared to most.

Camp includes everything you need and then some. Not only advertised amenities but nice little touches that made us feel special. Sand buckets with bubbles were out for the kids, s'more supplies provided, duck food for the resident duck family. Plenty of kitchen utensils, towels, sheets etc.

We enjoyed a week of day-trips to Bar Harbor, lounging on the deck, swimming, fishing and kayaking. There are 4 provided open kayaks that are easily maneuvered and stable. Dock is sturdy and provides access to sandy swimming/wading area for kids.

Idealic Maine vacation camp

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved this camp. The house is very comfortable (comfortable beds, new couches, flat screen tv, wifi, very clean) and well stocked unlike many rentals. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom as the stairs to the master were a little high for me (I'm rather short) but my daughter loved having the big room. My husband and I preferred the downstairs room as it was convenient and very good for older individuals. We loved being right on the pond (which is really a lake). We rented a canoe and kayaks from Beech Hill Canoes and they delivered and picked them up after the week. It was so nice to get up early and step into the kayak for a quiet paddle in the morning or some early fishing from the canoe or pier. We spent most of our days at the camp outdoors fishing, boating, running on the dirt road to the camp (1 mile to the paved road), sitting by the fire pit or b-b-q'ing on the grill. This really is a the best house we have stayed at for an outdoor vacation. We saw loons everyday and had ducks, chipmunks and red squirrels as visitors. There are nearby general stores for groceries, gas and beer (about 5-10 miles away). We enjoyed trips to Ellesworth, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park- although the roads are a little bumpy the drives were pleasant and beautiful Maine scenery. Don't miss Pizza Reel in Bar Harbor for gourmet pizza and a movie- our teenage daughters really enjoyed it. Our hosts Linda and Steve were always available for a lovely chat or if we needed anything! Linda has gone out of her way to help with activites, maps, and advice about the area. We are so glad John has opened his camp to rentals- we couldn't have hoped for a better week.
