Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: Both my husband and I (Bruce and Tiffany Burton) are long time locals of the Roaring Fork Valley. I, Tiffany, was born in Aspen, Colorado and grew up in Snowmass, Colorado. For fourteen years or more I have been an art teacher for elementary aged students to high school aged students. Plus, I have even taught art classes for the local community college (Colorado Mountain College). I love to spend as much of my time in the great outdoors, and enjoy being a mom. Bruce moved from Chicago to Aspen with his family when he was only two years old. He is a very talented wood worker. For the last twenty years he has owned and operated his custom fine furniture business: 'Knots of Wood Woodworks'. Bruce is a great hands on Dad and is also the happiest when he is playing in the great outdoors. Baylee our daughter, who is turning nine this summer, was born in Glewnwood Springs, Colorado. She is super creative, loves going to school at the Marble Charter School, and enjoys being outside as much as possible as well. Both Bruce and I have Dads that are retired ski instructors so we have been skiing and snowboarding our whole lives. Consequently, Baylee started skiing when she was only three years old. We are all creative in nature, adventurous, enjoy traveling, and meeting different people from all around the world. We sometimes miss the beach, so let us know if you have a beach home we can come and visit. We are open minded to arranging a 'vacation home trade' in the future.
Why the Owner Chose Carbondale, CO, USA:
Bruce and I were fortunate enough to visit Marble, Colorado as kids and have fond and lasting memories of the area from our childhoods. Our love for Marble began when we both individually hiked from Aspen to Marble as students on 'Outdoor Ed' and visited Outward Bound (An Internationally know Outdoor Educational School). It was then that we separately recognized just how special and magical Marble, Colorado is. Later in life, once we were ready to buy a home, Bruce and I were reminded of our fabulous childhood memories in Marble, Colorado. So, we checked out Marble again. To our surprise we were able to find a fixer upper home (that has been completely remodeled to date) on a piece of property that we loved. We couldn't believe that we were able to afford a piece of property close the Roaring Fork Valley that had Aspen trees, the river, and that Rocky Mountain feeling that we became accustomed to as kids. Bruce and I got married on the property in 2001 and have been happy ever since. Side Note: The property is a fabulous spot to have a small wedding. If the idea interests you let us know; we could help make this arrangement a possibility.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
Bruce and I both fell in love with the area and the property from the minute we stepped back into Marble, Colorado. The people up here are friendly and neighborly. Plus, the beauty surpasses most everywhere else we have ever been. Come visit we do not think you will be disappointed.
