Beautiful well equipped Getaway Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

There was just my husband & I but this cabin will fit max of 8. We fell in love with this place! It is huge with a large kitchen & living quarters. There is a walk out beautiful wood deck with the lake out in front. There is a large sunroom on side of house. Nice big bathroom with 2 sinks. Like it says, you basically just need your personal stuff & amenities. The rest is covered. The owner is extremely pleasant to talk with. We were there 9 days & I actually wanted to just move it & live here!

I don't want to be knit picky on such a nice place but to be honest in my review the only few things I noticed were the bathroom sink water pressure was very low but shower worked great. I just used the kitchen sink in the mornings which had a lot more pressure. There were no curtains on the kitchen windows or the sun porch side which we thought weird. They are building a new cabin next to it so anyone could look in if they wanted to from a little distance. It just bothered me at night. We couldn't get the fireplace to work even following the instructions given which we would of liked on the cool mornings but we just turned the heat on to get the chill off. All in all, we would stay here again in a heartbeat!! We didn't catch many fish however but it was nice trying & then having such a nice place to come back too. Thank you Berwin for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin!!

August stay

  • 3 of 5

The deck and sun porch were great places for conversation or to relax with family or by yourself, as well as having plenty of space in the home. We heard the loons on the lake and saw several boats with people fishing. We had one issue when I contacted the owners and they replied to my text in a timely manner.

What a find! Beautiful, modern retreat in Washburn County

  • 5 of 5

Our family needed a pet friendly place, with a Sunday to Sunday rental in Washburn County for my son's wedding in mid August. I was lucky enough to find this property. It turned out to be a OUTSTANDING place that has moved to the top on my list of my all time favorite VRBO's.

To say the property is “well-stocked” is an understatement. You could literally come here with a few clothes and a few groceries and be entertained for a week. The “extra's” included: A washer & dryer in the master bedroom, dishwasher, central heat and air, very nice appliances, Direct TV, Wi-fi, a huge gas grill, 4 kayaks, a stand-up paddleboard, tons of life jackets, water games, a second small refrigerator, a Keurig, 2 fireplaces and the list goes on and on. A large deck facing the lake across the open, level grassy yard and a very functional 3 season porch added to the ambiance. The cupboards and refrigerator were well stocked with staples, condiments, beverages, etc. etc. There is even a generator on site in case of power outages. While the outside of the property and windows are a bit aged, the interior has been very nicely renovated. Grade.... A+

Shell Lake (the Lake): The cabin sits on the quiet south bay of the 2500 acre lake. There is a very nice sandy swimming area with gradual dropoff next to the dock. The water was quite clear, even in mid August. The lake is a smallmouth bass factory, & I also caught a 17+ inch largemouth. I was also able to find some decent bluegills. The deck overlooks an island inhabited by multiple bald eagles. Loons were frequent visitors during fishing trips. Although we didn't use the pontoon, the owners have one available on site for rental by the week. Grade: A

Shell Lake (the town): This cute little town of 1300 was a 5 minute drive from the cabin and provided everything we needed. That said, while you are at the cabin, you feel properly “secluded” and away from it all. We visited a cute little grocery store (Gordy's), the Cenex gas station/convenience store. Food is very good at the Lake View, and the little ice cream store/hot dog stand/coffee shop offers tasty treats. Finally, a broken sheer pin sent me to the local marina saved the day. Grade... A+

Owners: I never did talk directly or by phone to Berwin or Glenda... there was simply no need to. The cabin was clean on arrival and we received our deposit back promptly. Any owner who puts together a package like this deserves and A+.

Fun Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Another great family vacation in Shell Lake. This was our second year staying at this house and it really was a home away from home. We decided to rent the pontoon boat this year and felt it was worth the extra investment. The house has everything you could need and more. My son was excited to try paddle boarding - having one at the house to use was a bonus!

We have already booked our vacation for 2017!

Thanks,

Stacy

A beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a great location. Access to a beautiful lake, fun trails for four wheeling, close to town but private. Very clean and comfortable cabin and the owners are wonderful too! We would definitely recommend this spot to our friends. We also found the people in town to be very friendly. The town is clean and the beach is wonderful. We did not eat in town but found the bakery for some delicious bread and rolls.

Another Beautiful Trip!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week stay... for the second year.... at this beautiful cabin. There really aren't words to say how wonderful this little gem is. If you are interested in fishing,,, Just incredible fishing. If you are interested in Loon and Bald Eagle viewing,,, you will be hard pressed to find a better location. Quiet,, Peaceful,, Beautiful! The cabin is equipped with everything you need. We took a lot less up this year. Everything you need is right there. Coffee on the deck with the lovely view was one of my personal favorites. Berwin is wonderful to work with too. He answers all your questions and is very helpful. Feel confident to have a wonderful trip with your family to Shell Lake. The cabin is perfectly set, with a coffee shop just down the road, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. If you forget something... you can find it easy! Especially with Spooner just down the road . We rented the pontoon boat...and highly recommend this. The lake is so pretty and we found people to be quite friendly here. You will see a lot ( I counted 15 the first day ).. of loons... and we watched 2 pairs of Bald Eagles by Robins Point. On a rainy day... the porch is a nice place to sit. You are outside,, yet inside! We cooked a lot of our own meals, and found everything we needed right in the kitchen to do so. The washer/dryer there,, is also another plus! Safe swimming another plus! I could go on... but just want to say Thank You to Berwin and his famiy for sharing their home... and to let everyone know... they can feel secure in renting this cabin for your family gatherings or just a simple get away. Perfect in every way!
