We have a really lovely stay in your home in Florissant last week and the week before. It was a perfect place, it was really comfortable and was close to all of our work. We just had a great time! Thank you a lot. We do the same work every year, so we will give you a call about renting it again next year. Great stay. Loved the place. Erin B. - Colorado
Thanks Dave for a very nice and comfortable home. It sure beats staying in a hotel. The area scenery is great and very convenient being a few miles from my cousin. Gary, Roma & Amy F.
It was a wonderful. Saw a buck 6 yards off the patio in back and still had velvet on his antlers. So much to do, will have to come back to do it all. Thanks for the great place to come & get away from everything. It was greatly appreciated. Lloyd & Gaynell R. – Kansas
We had a great trip to Colorado and we hope to be back next year. Now for an 18 hour drive back to Mississippi. Peter & Mackey - Mississippi
Enjoyed a great weekend driving thru the back roads and snapped hundreds of pics of the aspens and scenery. Got a couple of neat shots of a young buck walking within 10 yards of me while I sat on your front porch. Also saw a flock of turkeys on Park County Road 23 (by Tarryall Reservoir) but they were too quick for a picture. Great weather and company for a restorative weekend. The house was great. No problems and very comfortable. Scott C. – Kansas
Thanks for the short vacation. Great weather, great view and location. Very nice place 7 great work that you have done. No luck finding a place yet, but still looking. Mark & Cathy – Kansas
We absolutely had the BEST weekend! Sharing your retreat has been awesome. Truly in God’s Country! You have your own little piece of Heaven!! Thank You! Stephanie & Derick & Bill - Kansas
My wife & I were looking for a place to stay for a couple of months to be close to the site of our dream home as it is being built. The Colorado Mountain Retreat was the perfect place for us, being just two miles from our build site. We couldn't have been more pleased with the house. It was very comfortable and met our needs. It included everything we needed and if we had any questions, Dave was always readily available. It also served as a great location to meet with our builder and other trades so that we could make many of the decisions one has to make when building a home. We especially enjoyed having a fire at night on the patio and seeing our daily visitors of 3 - 8 deer, who we were able to feed right out of our hands. Some days they would come right up to the back door looking for us to come out. And thanks for having the horseshoe set. We had some very spirited games during our stay. We are looking forward to our return trip in late October for a couple of weeks to see the progress on our home. Kevin & Kathie C. - Arizona
This house was super comfortable and had everything we needed. Dave has great attention to detail and we felt like he was taking care of us without him being there. But for us, the highlight of this place was the close location (30 min away) of an excellent fishing destination. We will be looking forward to staying there again for our next fishing trip. Joan G M - Colorado
We has an amazing time at Dave's! The house had everything we needed, very comfortable and close to awesome fishing. Thanks Dave! We had a fantastic time! Hopefully we can come back again next year! Chalie - Colorado
This is a very comfortable house a couple miles south of Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, and dishes and the pantry has several essentials. It has a beautiful master suite and two other spacious rooms. The dining / living area is great for hanging out in the evenings. We enjoyed the backyard patio area too. Anonymous
The house had everything we needed and very comfortable. The master suite was beautiful also had two other spacious rooms just as beautiful. The kitchen is well-stocked, and had a nice dinning area to set down and enjoy the views. This house was just like being at home not in a vacation rental. Dave thanks for letting us stay. Hope to be able to stay again next year. Velda G. - Colorado
We were able to book at last minute. Home very nice and comfortable. Everything in kitchen labeled which helped to locate items. Beds very comfy. Our vacation rental cabin located about 5.9 miles South of the US Highway 24 and Colorado Teller 1 Highway intersection in Florissant, Colorado. The Colorado Mountain Retreat is about 10 miles Southwest of Divide and about 12 miles Northwest of Cripple Creek.
The Colorado Mountain Retreat is in the heart of many activities including gambling in Cripple Creek, golfing in Woodland Park, skiing in Breckenridge, horse back riding in the Pike National Forrest, off-roading on the thousands of miles of Jeep trails and back roads in the area or motorcycle day trips to the historic communities such as Fairplay, Guffey, Deckers, Victor and others.
The retreat is located in the well-established Colorado Mountain Estates development. It is located on a 2.2 acre tract of land overlooking an open valley which is frequented by herds of deer and elk. Other wildlife abounds in the area.
The retreat is easily accessible off of the highway for motorcycle riders, yet is close to off-road trails and horseback riding areas as well. Just to the north 3 1/2 miles is the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Park
The retreat is located about 12 miles west of Pikes Peak, as the crow flies. It is in the heart of many attractions in the Colorado Springs
Remodeling of the home was completed in 2014. It features 3 spacious private bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 car attached garage, central heat and new appliances. This is a cozy, comfortable non-smoking place to get away from the pressures of day to day life. All of the comforts of home, but located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.
In 2014 we added a fenced one acre pasture behind the home for guests that may be bringing horses or pack animals with them for trail rides or other activities. There is a parking area next to the garage for a horse trailer, camper or motorhome. There is also fresh water connection and electrical service available.
We have also added a new underground 1500 gallon fresh water cistern to provide more water capacity. Many of our guests have commented on the great tasting granite filtered well water. We have invested over $10,000 in improvements to the water system since purchasing the property.
Our goal is to make our vacation guests feel right at home when they come to visit!

About the owner: Dave Rose established vacation homes in Colorado and Kansas, through Red Hills Property, LLC, in an effort to help those that wish to travel and enjoy scenic areas of those states. He wanted to provide people with a warm, family friendly place to stay. After spending a number of years on the road, he saw the importance of getting off the beaten path and enjoying life. Dave and his sons joined United Country Real Estate in December 2006 with an office in Salina, Kansas. In April 2007 they opened their office in Coldwater, Kansas. In 2009 they added auction services to their operation. In February 2012 Dave had the honor of receiving the national 2011 Holcombe Award for exemplary management performance as an Area Vice President in service to United Country Real Estate. He was recognized in March 2014 with the 2013 Holcombe Award, joining a select few that have won the award twice during their management careers. Prior to joining United Country Dave worked for Farm Bureau Financial Services as a Regional Claims Manager for 17 years, retiring in 2003. He managed claims offices in Salina, Osborne, Concordia and Manhattan. Prior to working for Farm Bureau, he enjoyed 8 years of service to our country in the US Navy aboard a nuclear fast attack submarine, the USS Scamp SSN-588 and on recruiting duty in Western Colorado. He started a family owned and operated real estate business in 2003. In 2006 the small company was recognized as an Emerging Business of the Year and was nominated for the Plains Spirit Award by the Kansas Small Business Development Center. In June 2007 Governor Sebelius and the Kansas Department of Commerce recognized the company for the Business Achievement Award for service. The company was featured in a number of articles in the Salina Journal, Boston Globe, Yahoo News Technology section, on the front page of the Los Angeles Times and many other newspapers. We hope you enjoy the Colorado Mountain Retreat and come back soon!!
Why the Owner Chose Florissant, CO, USA:
While many vacation homes in Colorado are hemmed in with a curtain of pine trees and require driving miles of dusty, dirty back roads and even trails to reach them, the Colorado Mountain Retreat is conveniently located just off of Teller 1 Highway making it easy to reach with any type of vehicle, motorhome or motorcycle. The home is located with expansive views of the mountains, stars and weather patterns. A 1 acre pasture north of the home has been fenced for equestrian enthusiasts to have a place for their favorite horses to relax and graze. In the evenings guests are often delighted with the views of deer and occasional elk feeding down the hillside to the east. Some have awakened to see deer feeding in the yard in the early morning hours. Prairie dogs frolic in the pasture grass that surrounds the home, giving guests an up–close view of their busy lifestyle. Those that enjoy star gazing enjoy the unobstructed views of the mountain sky with the faint glow of light to the east of Pikes Peak. The cool, clear mountain nights at 8,300’ elevation makes a warm jacket feel good, even in the summer. Many guests enjoy the winding mountain drive to the quaint mining town of Cripple Creek with its many casinos, fine dining and entertainment. The sea food buffets on Friday and Saturday evenings draw raves from those that enjoy good food. Whatever activity that you would like to enjoy, is likely within a short drive of the Colorado Mountain Retreat. Come and join us!!
