About the Property
Comfortable, convenient 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom parkside house with oceanview deck
You can see the exciting Pleasure Pier rides from your front porch and enjoy a view of the Gulf from the deck raised above the private tropical oasis back yard. Wander two blocks to the 10.3-mile-long Seawall for a surrey ride, a splash on the beach or some saltwater fishing from the jetties. After enjoying the sand and sea, rinse off in the outdoor shower just inside your side gate. Stroll a few blocks in the opposite direction to the 1880 Garten Verein in Kempner Park, or drive a few minutes through Victorian neighborhoods to the historic downtown. Restaurants, funky bars and island attractions abound in every direction. Or just throw your freshly caught fish on the charcoal grill and relax out back swinging on the hammock in the sea breeze.
Casa Sea Spell's single-floor layout creates an accessible home for all ages (a porch step and narrow doorways preclude wheelchairs). Original art and custom furnishings enhance your stay.
Casa Sea Spell is not recommended for more than 10 adults. With children, it can sleep a dozen. (Top bunks not recommended for children under six years old.)
The Tropical Room boasts a king bed and full en suite bathroom with tub. The cozy Lighthouse Room features a queen bed. And the Pirates' Quarters touts a nautical theme with a full bed and three singles arranged as bunks. A second bathroom with an accessible travertine tile shower with safety grab bar sits along the main hallway adjacent to the laundry room (washer and dryer available for use). Ample bath towels are provided for all guests, along with boogie boards, tennis racquets, fish nets, beach ball and more.
The Shell Room den includes a 40-inch flatscreen TV with Comcast cable, HBO/Showtime and DVD player. Plunge into the movie library, collection of books and fun family games. The sofa folds out to a full-sized bed for a fourth bedroom at night. Wi-fi is available throughout the house, and a tower stereo lets you enjoy tunes from your personal digital device.
Find ample seating in the Fish Room living room, including another couch which folds out to a queen-sized bed for overflow guests.
New stainless kitchen appliances make meal prep a pleasure with ample granite countertops, microwave, ice and filtered water from the refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, blender and coffee machine. The large Surf Room dining area can seat eight to 10 comfortably on two chairs and two long benches. An adjacent surfboard breakfast bar provides additional seating on four stools.
A side driveway offers parking for two vehicles with additional street parking on the front and side.
Galveston is not zoned and has a diverse population. This includes our neighborhood, which has a variety of homes, from brand new to somewhat run down, with a variety of friendly residents.

Year Purchased: 2013
About the owner: Rob and Jo Lucey are long-time residents of the Galveston/Houston area. (Their residency was interrupted by a three-year cruise aboard their 38-foot sloop, Sea Spell.) This is the fourth property they have renovated and their first specifically for the rental market. They enjoyed the nine-month process of updating and furnishing Casa Sea Spell and hope you enjoy the results as much as they have. Rob was a reporter for the local newspaper at one time, and gained a great deal of local knowledge as a result. He is happy to share his island insights. Both have spent time as volunteer crew members aboard the Tall Ship Elissa.
Why the Owner Chose Kempner Park, Galveston, TX, USA:
After several months of looking, Rob and Jo selected this property for its great location and excellent layout. The ample living space is ideally suited for gatherings of friends and family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The first time Rob climbed onto the roof, he realized the house needed a raised deck in the back to capture the view of the neighborhood and Gulf waters. As a Texas Master Gardener, he has also enjoyed converting the formerly weed-covered back yard into a tropical oasis and uncovering the previously hidden front and back beds. Jo has enjoyed gathering unique furniture and art pieces to complete the island-themed rooms.
