Experience the very best of California under the canopy of 200 year old sycamores, steps away from Will Rogers beach in Santa Monica's Rustic Canyon. Set back from the street behind a large fenced brick patio and English garden, our house is designed to bring the outside in through abundant windows, skylights and glass doors, yet affording complete privacy.
The house is fully furnished with both contemporary and modern pieces, Italian light fixtures and dimmers, and oak hardwood flooring.
Enter our house by stepping inside a glass door to the front hallway, flooded in light. To the left is a formal dining room overlooking the front garden and hillside topped with giant eucalyptus and Rustic Canyon creek below. Adjacent is the vintage 1940's kitchen updated with top line appliances including a Viking range, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and breakfast nook seating six.
Down the hallway, the formal living room with fireplace and Onkyo stereo system opens to the front garden/patio.
The Master Bedroom sleeps two and is furnished in toile and antiques, flat screen TV, a sunny private deck and fireplace. Adjoining this bedroom is a bathroom and private shower as well as a walk-in closet.
Bedrooms 2 and 3 have built-in bookcases, desks and closets and sleep two each. A tiled bathroom with a tub and shower are across the hallway from these bedrooms.
At the end of the hallway, Bedroom 4 has a built-in bookcase and closet and flat screen TV, sleeps two and looks out on the back patio and garden of specimen agave and citrus. Directly across the hallway is a tiled bathroom with shower.
Step outside the back glass door and immediately to the right is the laundry room with extra capacity washer and dryer.
Antique iron furniture, butterfly chairs and umbrellas compliment both the front and back patios.
Enjoy the sunny back patio for dining or just relaxing in the butterfly chairs. Harvest fruit and vegetables from the orchard for your culinary creations.
BBQ on the Lynx grill and dine under strands of lights serenaded by the sound of frogs croaking in the creek across the way. Or stroll two blocks to the local restaurants, Hungry Cat (excellent seafood), Golden Bull (American steakhouse), Delfini (Casual Italian), Giorgio's (Celebrity-spotting Italian), Tex Mex (our local taco cantina) and Patrick's Roadhouse (a venerable American greasy spoon).
Fun adventures: Pack up a cooler, beach chairs and umbrella to walk two blocks to the sand and surf at Will Rogers beach. Or head up to Will Rogers Park for a picnic at the polo fields and the Santa Monica Mountain trails for hiking and mountain biking. The Santa Monica Pier is a three mile walk along the bluff top Ocean Avenue park or bike ride on the beach path for people-watching and free concerts.
Downtown Santa Monica, with great stores and restaurants of the Promenade and the Mall are on the way. The famous 3rd Street stairs workout venue is 3 blocks away.
World class cultural venues – the Getty Villa in Malibu, the Getty Center in Brentwood, LACMA, UCLA Live – and many more are a short drive away.
If you’re a surfer, the Pacific Ocean and legendary surf breaks await along the nearby PCH.
Or just grab a book, jump into our hammock surrounded by a riot of roses and dream away. Like margaritas? You'll never run out of organic limes from our orchard!

Why George chose Santa Monica Canyon
Our Santa Monica house is a unique Rustic Canyon beach/canyon property surrounded by verdant nature yet adjacent to the world class city of Los Angeles. We strove to maintain a casual indoor/outdoor architectural feel with wood floors and crown moulding in main rooms. The house is surrounded by two lush gardens and brick patios, with a fruit orchard in back. Ideal for either a family or romantic couple getaway.
What makes this House unique
Our private, original Santa Monica Canyon property lets you experience California at its best. Nestled in beachside Rustic Canyon in one of the most beautiful and prestigious neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Abundant sun, gentle breezes and wildlife abound. Once part of a Spanish land grant, Rustic Canyon has been home through the years to notable artists and writers, including Christopher Isherwood, Sam Francis and many others.

Did not want to leave
Loved this house. The pictures are accurate...if anything it is nicer than the pictures. The place was very clean with beautiful and comfortable furniture. We enjoyed the outside areas and had several meals outside. There really are limes you can pick. The neighborhood really is nice. You really can walk easily to the beach and to several restaurants. We liked Caffe Delfini, Marix and Golden Bull. The owner met us when we arrived and was available if needed but otherwise gave us our privacy. I honestly hated to leave.
