Fabulous location in the 6th district, one block from the Seine

Location, location, location! A lovely boutique style apartment in St. Germain des Pres.

This lovely one bedroom apartment has been redone to high standards. As it is small, we wanted to create a cozy, romantic, Parisian atmosphere. We've used stripes, warm colors and natural materials such as granit and hardwood floors to create a classic, romantic effect.

Enter the building using the door code and go past the mailboxes through the long hallway with exposed stone walls. The gate at the end of the hallways also opens with a code. Go through the gate and the apartment is the first one on the left. Facing you as you enter the apartment is the striped burgundy colored salon with two comfortable armchairs, a small coffee table, a lighted niche with books, a closet and a portmanteau for hanging.

To the left of the entrance is the fully-equipped kitchen with a granit worktop, an eating area at the end, a refrigerator, combination washer-dryer, small oven, microwave, stovetop, and dishwasher. We've recalled the burgundy color theme with the kitchen cabinets. As we love coffee, you have two choices: the Bodum French Press or the Nespresso maker. There is also a tea kettle. The kitchen is stocked with some basic items for your use: salt, pepper, coffee, sugar, tea, oil and vinegar. There is also high quality Brabantia cookware (which you may not need to use much given the almost overwhelming choice of restaurants in the area!).

Across from the kitchen is the bathroom tiled floor to ceiling with extra large square tiles to create a sense of space and harmony. There is a state of the art, aesthetic water heater (details are important!), Duravit sink and WC, and a large Italian tiled shower with a thermostatic tap. The bathroom was designed for maximum comfort in a small space.

To the left of the living room is the bedroom, the largest room in the apartment. Lighter stripes decorate the walls, and the high wrought iron English bed fits perfectly into the space. We also chose this bed so that you'd have space to store your luggage underneath.

We've also included a small English antique commode and a comfortable two-seater sofa if you'd like a second relaxation area. There is cable TV and Wifi of course, and the bedroom looks out onto a bright courtyard. The thick cotton curtains block out the light even though there isn't much at night, given the fact that the apartment is situated between two courtyards.

The atmosphere of the building is quite friendly and the neighborhood is fantastic. We'll leave a detailed apartment guide in the property, but we'd like to mention the fact that you are really in the heart of “everything”. If you turn left and then right at the end of the street, you find yourself on the rue Guenegaud next to The Seine. Cross over the Pont Neuf bridge and you're on the Right Bank. You're also a few blocks away from the Institut de France, the dome of which you can see when you walk out of the building. We could go on and on about the location.

If you turn right when leaving the apartment and go to the end of the street, you will find yourself on the famous rue de Buci with it's open air market, cafes, shops and such a lively atmosphere of what we call “Le Vieux Paris”. You can also head up a few more meters and hit the Boulevard St. Germain with its cinemas, shops and people-watching cafes..... Continue from there either straight to the chic St. Sulpice area or turn left instead and head towards St. Michel... The possibilities are endless.

We hope to welcome you to our apartment soon!

An ideal location within walking distance of all major museums along the left bank. Thoughtfully furnished with newly remodeled kitchen and bath the ground floor apartment is on a courtyard insulated from street noise and maintained a cool pleasant temperature even during the recent Paris heat wave. We stayed four weeks and it worked extremely well for us. It is in a vibrant neighborhood close to shopping, cafes and dining. We would easily consider renting again. Stacey is a thoughtful landlady and Valerie took excellent care of us. Enjoy.

After staying 5 weeks in this apt. I agree with previous reviews. Great location with an Eric Kayser, a Paul, Carrefour, Nicolas, plus shops selling gelato, fruits & vegetables, chocolate and take away prepared foods all less than a 5 minute walk away. Restaurants abound in all directions and sidewalk cafes are plentiful. At the entrance to the Metro stop Odeon are at least 6 bus stops (so much better for sightseeing). The lighting in the apt. is extremely well thought out & electric sockets for charging devices are at countertop level (not on the baseboards). If you like to read in bed, this apt. is a treat. There are 3-4 English language news stations and WiFi worked well. Stacey and Valerie were both professional and helpful.

I would give the listing another half star if I knew how!

Comfortable oasis in bustling area

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is very comfortable and quiet, located in the middle of a busy restaurant and bar area, but also close to the station. My only criticism would be the light - or lack of - light situation - there are 3 small windows that open onto an internal courtyard, but none that receive natural light from the outside, which can make the place feel a little claustrophobic. That aside, I would highly recommend this apartment and would happily stay again.

Owner's Response: We are thrilled that you enjoyed the apartment. Just a small clarification: the courtyard is outdoors, not indoor, so the light is coming from outside. The building is built around the courtyard.

Amazing and great location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, decided to spend our honeymoon in Paris and this was the property we decided to pass our time. The location and conditions of the apartment were superb. We would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a great time in Paris.

Valerie and Stacey were excellent hosts, we would visit them again.

Wonderful little apartment in a can't be beat location

  • 5 of 5

What a WONDERFUL stay. Both Stacy and Valerie were responsive, helpful, and friendly. The location can't be beat- truly a gem in the neighborhood. Be aware this property is SMALL. It was comfortable for two, can't imagine doing it with any more than that. The kitchen fits one, the bathroom fits one, however the shower was large and generous, and the towel warmer was to die for. Warm and cozy, comfortable, some noise from outside in the mornings when they were cleaning. Safe and secure- felt so fortunate to have stayed here!

Car: not necessary

In the heart of St. Germain des Pres, one block from the Seine river and famous restaurants and cafes. One block from the rue de Buci. Walk to the Pont Neuf and the Right Bank in 5 minutes. A mythical, wonderful location in the heart of the 6th district.
