Classic Beach Bungalow - Private Sandy Beach Close to St. Malo and Carlsbad
This quiet and quaint cottage is located right on the most exclusive private beach of Oceanside/Carlsbad Area. Come enjoy the beautiful ocean sunsets from one of the two spacious decks surrounding this oceanfront home. You can enjoy the view from almost every room in the house as well with big windows framing the scenery. This cottage is great for a romantic getaway or for some quality friend or family time.
It is centrally located between the famous destinations of Temecula/Orange County where you can enjoy the many wineries and go horseback riding, and San Diego where there are many attractions including parks, museums and the beautiful beach!
This delightful beachfront cottage has two bedrooms, each with a full bath. The master bedroom has one of the two balconies, directly on the ocean. Lull yourself to sleep and wake up refreshed to your morning coffee or tea in one of the chaise lounges to start your day. The second bedroom area has it's own private entrance. The kitchen is equipped with basic needs and includes a breakfast bar with two bar stools, making for a great area to cook and socialize. The kitchen flows openly to the large country table in the dining area, with windows providing a 180 view of the ocean! If you want to enjoy the weather along with the view, then the dining room opens right up to the larger deck facing the ocean, allowing for ease of eating outdoors and watching the sunset. Stairs lead from the larger balcony to your own private beach on the soft sand.
Private drive way parking for up to three vehicles behind gates!

Great location. Nice cottage right on the sand. Everything you need for a cozy getaway
Very clean. Great location. Convenient to local restaurants and pier.
Great location. No washer and dryer or dishwasher though.
This review is difficult. We absolutely loved the location, but it would never have occurred to me that a rental house on the beach would not have a washer and dryer. The location really is amazing and we had a great time.
Girlfriend retreat on the ocean
I rented this place for my best friend and I to have a get away. The location is phenomenal! You can't get any closer to the ocean than this cottage.
It is a cute little cottage, but needs to have some love thrown it's way. Very dated and just needs updated with new furnishings and some items that I would think would be standard. Thank goodness the girl who let me in had coffee in her car for my first morning as I arrived late in the evening.
We felt that we were staying at Grandma's house. And that made our stay here more special.
The blowdryer was broken upon my arrival. But my friend had hers with her so it worked out.
I will definitely be back!
Private getaway on the beach
If you are looking for a small vacation home on the beach, this is the place! This is an older shack that is rustic and private. The home was very clean and well appointed. Bernice with the property management team was very flexible and supportive. She was able to meet us at the property for keys with a 20min notice. My only concern are the fees, which included; $245 cleaning and $99 Property Damage Protection Contract with a third-party vendor in addition to the refundable $500 security deposit. When the rental contract was emailed, I noticed a 2.7% credit card processing fee which wasn't disclosed at time of booking. Otherwise the property has a dry beach which is elevated above the actual wet beach. The sand was pure with very little rocks, probably the best beach in Oceanside. I recommend this property and hope to visit again.
My husband and I loved our four nights. To be right on the beach at this price is incredible. The house is old but everything works - the stove etc. The house is in close driving distance to excellent restaurants; we even walked one afternoon to a perfect little Peruvian restaurant. My husband surfs so for him to walk out the back door and into the water is pretty perfect.
Shangri-yuck! Owners need to clean it up!!
This property was deplorable and in major disrepair with broken plaster, peeling paint, rusted areas poking through everywhere inside and out, and missing and damaged screens on the windows! There were hanging, exposed electrical wires off the rusted roof of the master bedroom deck, filthy windows, mice droppings, and inadequate furnishings from rusted-out beach chairs, broken umbrellas, broken hair dryer, rusty wall heaters, dirty office chairs for dining room chairs, as well as spartan furnishings in bedrooms. And NO lighting on either of the two decks. The photos in the website are NOT representative of the property: furniture was moved around to make it look like there was more and of better quality. The place was dirty with mice droppings, which the property manager did have cleaned up for us, as well as having a window washer come in AFTER I complained 3 days later. However in the master bedroom, the mouse droppings under the bed remained and the closet floors were covered in grime and hair. There are no pictures on any but one of the poorly-painted walls (which has both the under paint showing through and newly painted areas around the doors and door hinges in a different color!). It was stated there was heating, but the 2 heaters, which had been painted white at one time, were completely rusted on the outside, and we had a couple cold days. The property manager did add nice lights to the brick entry steps AFTER we tripped on them going down the hill. There were 4-5 piles of old chairs, surfboards, wood and bricks, which they also cleaned up a few days AFTER we arrived, well, at least the piles on the front patio - the parking area was still messy. And the manager did bring us new beach chairs and hairdryer (as it was broken). The VRBO site I rented from stated the property was a "St. Malo Shangri-la." It was NOT in St. Malo, and not a Shangri-la - except for the gorgeous view. This was NOT a rentable property!!! The property manager did try to help us out but it was beyond her without major repairs and offered another property but we were unable to move. We left 3 days early. The final straw was safety - strangers appeared on our deck at 2:55am and I had to confront them in the dark! I guess the place looked truly abandoned. The property needs major repairs, painting, cleaning up, and furnishings before being offered again. We have rented through VRBO for many years both in Mexico and the US and this was our one and only bad experience.
Oceanside is a wonderful coastal town at the very north end of San Diego. It is a flat community that encourages bicycle riding and walking. There is a harbor and marina with restaurants and bars within walking/bicycling distance of this home. There are other great restaurants, ice cream, yogurt shop and a Regal cinema, all within walking distance. Oceanside also has a wonderful farmers market on Thursdays with local fresh produce and wonderful food options. On Thursday evenings it is repeated with live music and every type of food vendor you can imagine. The street fair also has fun booths with art and other gifts for sale. You are next door to Carlsbad and can actually bike there too. The Oceanside beaches are sandy and long. The pier has a Ruby's restaurant at the end that is a fun place to fish or watch fishing.
