The Village of Fife Lake is the hidden gem of Grand Traverse County. Just 30 miles south of Traverse City it provides a soft landing for those seeking to get away from all of the hub bub of the “big city”. This perfect location provides a center for those that want to further explore north western Michigan as well as a jumping off point for multiple recreational activities in our four seasons.
Just steps from the front door of this cute cottage is Fife Lake, over 625 acres of all sports fun! Steps down from the dock and sea wall lead you to a hard pack sand bottom for as long as you can touch without going under! Bring your own boat to ski, tube or fish for bass, pike, sunfish and walleye. If you would rather relax you can catch some rays lounging on the dock while watching our nesting eagle pair soar above, or sit in the shade on the lawn while a reading a book. Make sure to bring some marshmallows to roast over the fire when the sun goes down. A Michigan DNR boat launch is located directly across the lake and there is room on the property to store your boat trailer.
This cute cottage will provide you with a place to rest your head after a long day of adventure. The first bedroom has a queen size Sleep Number bed that lets you choose your own firmness while the second bedroom boasts two bunk beds furnished with four brand new twin sized Michigan made mattresses. All bed linens are provided.
The 3/4 bathroom has been recently remodeled. Bath towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels. There is a washer and dryer on site for limited use.
There is a fabulous sunroom that spans the entire width of this cottage with a large sectional lounger that invites you to naps. The pub style table seats eight and is perfect for a lakeside family dinner or a rousing game of Apples to Apples. For those that cannot sit still many foosball tournaments have taken place in this room.
Dinner can be grilled out back on the gas grill or prepared in the fully equipped kitchen. There is a full size fridge, microwave, gas stove and oven, coffee pot and filters, and toaster and toaster oven. Plates and silverware along with a variety of kitchen utensils and cooking dishes are also provided. The dining room table comfortably seats six.
If Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate you can always run up to the Village of Fife Lake (3 miles away) to rent a DVD or blu ray movie to play on the 40” TV that is mounted above the fireplace/heater. Or, if you have a Netflix membership (or similar) you can download your choice of shows to watch from the in house wifi. But really-who wants to watch TV when you have a view of the lake?
Excellent cottage. Fully equipped. Comfy beds. Great location (30-60 mins) to Traverse City, Petosky and many other tourist spots. We had a wonderful time swimming in the lake, kayaking, and watching the sunset. Quiet and peaceful. Very minimal lake traffic with boats. Most are pontoons and a few jet skies. This is a really good and safe place. We will return.
This cottage was exactly what my family needed! We enjoyed swimming, campfires, kayaking around the lake (seeing the bald eagle's nest on one of the island), watching a storm roll in from the lovely back porch, and just reconnecting as a family. The cottage in itself is like a mini retreat with all of the comforts of home. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage!
As a self-described clean freak, I was so happy to walk into such a meticulously maintained cottage. There is a great deal of living space with a beautiful view of the lake from the back of the cabin. We had everything we needed for the perfect family vacation. We took a day trip to Platte River, tubing and kayaking. Our last night was spent watching the Fife Lake community fireworks right from the back yard overlooking the lake.
This cottage was perfect. I was greeted with a frosty beer mug upon arrival and that's pretty much how the whole vacation went. We enjoyed having fires in the yard, swimming, fishing, and just relaxing. The cottage was very nice and clean and had all the cooking tools you could ask for. The a/c was a huge plus with the hot weather we had. Close to Traverse City where we enjoyed dinner at the Blue Tractor and a walk from town where we enjoyed the Fife Lake Inn for Dinner and ice cream at the Dairy Bar. The boat launch was just down the road from the cottage and there is a grocery store a couple miles away in case you forgot any food items or need to refuel on beverages. We had a great stay and will be back for sure next year.
We were very please with our stay at this FIFE LAKE COTTAGE. We are a family of four and the cottage was perfect for our family. The newly purchased Kayaks were a hit with my twin boys. Joanne has the cottage stocked with everything that you need, the cottage even has kabob skewers. There are many activities near by and you can't beat taking a short boat ride across the lake for Moomer's Ice Cream.
I stayed through the off-season and can think of no better description than sanctuary. Very clean and cozy with magnificent views of Fife Lake and perfect visibility of the sun's rise from the east and setting to the west. Attached facing the lake is a large, enclosed porch, perfect for lounging and playing games. The green, lake-facing lawn has a fire-pit and bench for restful outdoor evenings. The owner was attentive to my needs, i.e., she had to ask, since everything seemed fully functional, including appliances, HVAC, and High-Def/WIFI. Easy access to the lake with provided kayaks. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
