About the property

Sweet Little Cabin in the Trees....

Welcome to The Cabin on Creekside Commons. This secluded getaway offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful, rural setting with an easy 10 minute drive (or 30 minute scenic bike ride) to both downtown Eureka and downtown Arcata.

Creekside Commons is a beautiful jointly owned five acre retreat in the heart of the redwoods. Our goals include eliminating boundaries and pursuing common goals when possible. One goal we have in common, is to be able to provide a healing and restful retreat for our guests. Whether you choose to stay at the Cottage or the Cabin we hope your stay with us is rejuvenating and adventuresome.

Step outside and into an enchanted redwood grove,, enjoy fresh vegetables from our organic garden, luxuriate with an outdoor shower or hot tub, meditate in your own redwood sanctuary grove, spend an evening by the fire pit.

We are excited to be able to offer an on site massage therapist. Ryan Knotts has 9 years experience as a massage therapist and is trained in many massage/bodywork modalities including:

Swedish techniques for those who want a relaxing massage that increases circulation and decreases stress, deep tissue/ therapeutic body work for those who have specific ailments, clothed body work and energy massage for those who prefer a stretching style or Reiki style massage and acupressure for those who prefer pressure point and meridian therapy. His focus is on listening to the body and breath, and finding ways to work with the client to exact real change in the muscles and overall health.

There's plenty to see and do in the area. Enjoy events such as the Kinetic Sculpture Race, North Country Fair, Film Festivals and weekly farmer's markets. Humboldt county has multiple wine tasting rooms and craft beers. Live music and theatre are cornerstones of Humboldt county culture. For the outdoor adventurer, enjoy the majestic redwood forests, guided birdwatching tours, miles of coastal beaches and sunny days at inland rivers.

Relaxing stay in the redwoods

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I were visiting my brother up north for the holiday weekend. We wanted something relaxing, a few minutes from the town of Arcata. We found it with this lovely cabin! The property is beautiful, the cabin is very sweet, and the hot tub is great! We stayed two nights, and grilled salmon on the grill one of the nights! John was very helpful, and even supplied us with fresh ground coffee for the weekend. The wood stove is enough to heat the house in the winter, it ended up get toasty in there! The outdoor shower was neat and really fun to hop into after the hot tub. All around great experience, we will be returning again!

Perfect Cabin in the Redwoods

  • 5 of 5

I loved my stay here in the redwoods, beyond electronics. Host John was great and kept me well stocked with wood for the stove. The cabin was well-equipped, comfortable, cozy and quirky. The hot tub was great. I will definitely stay here again as I like to spend time with my daughter, who lives in Eureka. Also, because of the rain I didn't get to use the walking trail.

Quiet cabin in Freshwater

  • 4 of 5

We stayed five nights while doing research nearby. The cabin was very comfortable and quiet, perfect restful space. We didn't take advantage of the hot tub or hanging out in the chairs outside, but everything was very pleasantly arranged. The only downside was frequent dog barking from neighborhood dogs.

Clean, cozy, comfortable and safe place for one or two people to escape and relax.

  • 4 of 5

This is an excellent little cabin for an escape and some peace and quiet. No TV. That's a good thing. Cozy fireplace with firewood provided. Great campfire pit for that peaceful romantic evening by the fire. We enjoyed the private, clean hot tub. John and Janet are excellent hosts and meet all your needs including privacy. I only wish we had more time to get to know them better as they seem to be very interesting and lovely people. The community garden has wonderful fresh fruit and veggies for your enjoyment. We recommend it if you want a quiet relaxing and very basic place to escape. The bed was very clean and most comfortable. The cabin is small with limited cooking and dining space. But that's what makes it cozy. If you want a peaceful, simple and basic get away this is a great place. It's close to everything in the Redwoods and Humbolt county. John can help recommend lots to do. Thanks John and Janet we will be back. Mike & Dawn.
