Located in Peyrusse Grande, an historic 16th century medieval hilltop village in the department of Gers, in the Midi-Pyrenees region, known for its gently rolling hills, vineyards, abundant farms, and numerous villages with historic monuments, chateaux, and churches dating from the Crusades era. This is one of the most beautiful, rural and unspoiled regions of France.
This 2 floor townhouse sits on a quiet and lovely square. Downstairs is a large great room with sitting and dining areas; a door leads onto a large terrace and a lush sloping garden overlooking hills, valleys, and mountain views in the distance.
From this room there is passage into a well designed and functional kitchen, leading out to the terrace. There is a small tiled bathroom with sink and shower and a utility area with a washing machine. Upstairs are 2 medium-large sized bedrooms, one, facing north, overlooking the village square and the other with garden and mountain views. Both have king size beds and storage. A third room functions as an atelier with a skylight. A large , windowed bathroom faces south with tub and separate shower. There is a WiFi connection and a television monitor with built-in DVD player.
The house, a former blacksmith's residence, has been totally renovated and restored, beginning in 2006. The natural stone and wooden elements have been retained and furnished with attention to detail and comfort, using eclectic and modern design.
A car is necessary since the closest shopping facilities are between 20-45 minutes away. Many of the villages in the area have their designated market days for local and fresh produce.
The village is close to public forests with hiking trails and there are near-by lakes for swimming and boating.
The village is located 30 minutes from Marciac, where an international jazz festival is held in August. 90 minutes from Toulouse and 45 minutes from Pau, both providing excellent flight connections. Bordeaux, Biarritz, and Spain are all within easy driving distance.
The house and environment provides an exceptional and unique level of comfort and tranquility. Ideal for a creative individual-artist, writer or a couple seeking a secluded and beautiful retreat.
