Overview

About the property

Master Suite,2 Baths, Loft With 3 Beds On 47 Acres With Ponds, Streams,&Serenity

Enjoy the warmth and restorative simplicity of true log cabin living while pampering the body with organic toiletries and luxurious bath and bed linens. The sound of the waterfall, the ducks milling about on the ponds, and the quiet rhythm of life on the farm is wonderful for relaxing the mind and body.

Located just 10 miles west of Brevard, North Carolina, this beautiful log cabin is part of Falling water Farm, a private equestrian estate that is nestled in its own secluded valley. Large picture windows frame meticulously maintained pastures bordered by streams and springs that flow into a pond located directly in front of the cabin. The covered porch overlooks a waterfall that is beautiful to look at and soothing to hear, especially as one drifts off to sleep. Come morning, enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the horses graze and the ducks dabble for their breakfast on the pond. Guests are welcome to walk the property and under the owner's supervision, meet the horses.

The cabin has an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining, and living room area. This design feature takes full advantage of the floor-to-ceiling windows to offer unrestricted views and a feeling of connection with the land and life that surround the cabin. The living room is tastefully furnished with a couch and matching recliner as well as a rocking chair. In addition, there is a flat screen television with Direct TV satellite and a DVD player.

The master suite downstairs has a king size bed, walk in closet, and private bath. The soothing sound of the water is particularly nice in this bedroom. Upstairs is a roomy loft area with another full bath, a queen bed as well as two single beds. One of the single beds can be collapsed and moved out of the way if not needed. The cabin is air conditioned and separate temperature controls in the master bedroom, loft, and great room ensure maximum comfort during the summer months.

The Kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric range, refrigerator with an ice maker, dishwasher, blender, and coffee maker. There is also a stacked washer and dryer unit. Additionally there is a barbecue grill and outside dining area located behind the cabin in its private yard. Access to the property is private, entry is via an electric gate. Guests are assigned a unique entry code prior to their arrival.

Located just off of Hwy 64, we are convenient to Cashiers, Sapphire, Lake Toxaway, and Highlands to the West, Brevard and Hendersonville to the East, Asheville to the north, and the upstate of South Carolina to the South. All of these locations have a lot to offer from great restaurants to great antiquing. The major hubs of Atlanta to the south and Charlotte to the east are both only 2 1/2 hours drive away.

Transylvania county is the land of waterfalls and hiking, biking, cycling, and sightseeing destinations are literally only minutes away. For hikers and mountain bikers, Jocassee State Park is only 2.3 miles down the road and for cyclists there are miles of bike routes all through Transylvania county. Should fly fishing, tubing, or kayaking interest you, both the Davidson river and the French Broad Rivers are just minutes away. For the horse enthusiast, there are several stables in the area that offer trail rides, but reservations are a must. We are also close to DuPont State Forest, Pisgah State Forest, and Caesars Head State Park. The Biltmore Estate with its winery, grounds, and gardens in Asheville is only 35 miles north.

Because of the numerous water features and four legged animals already on the property, we are unable to accommodate children or pets. But if you are looking for a place geared towards the adult traveler, Falling Water Farm is for you.

Wonderful Private Mountain Cabin Close to Brevard

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this vacation cabin, probably one of our favorite places to stay! It was close enough to Brevard where we were visiting relatives, and still be able to experience the quiet and beautiful mountain scenery. The waterfall beside the cabin was peaceful during the day, and magical at night when the lights came on. The cabin was very clean and well kept with comfortable beds. Ilse was a great host providing everything you need, as well as some luxury touches like fresh baked cookies, a Keurig coffee maker, and well stocked bath supplies. We would definitely stay here again. A great find for our family vacation. Thanks for the hospitality!

What a beautiful, peaceful property! What a generous and gracious hostess! We (4 seniors) had the time of our lives at Falling Waters Farm. The guest cottage is a beautiful

timber frame home, clearly of the highest quality, and Ilse Kirchoff went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and interesting. The property is quiet and peaceful -- with a burbling stream to relax you after a day of strenuous hiking. My husband and I took the sleeping area and bath up in the loft. It was very comfortable and more private than I had anticipated. The downstairs bedroom is huge, as its ensuite bath. All beds were very comfortable--the best I've encountered in a vacation rental. The living room had comfortable and ample seating for the four of us and, since we ate dinner at home every evening, I am happy to report that the kitchen and dining area worked well. As a bonus, we were several times able to watch Ilse training her horses in the ring directly in front of our cabin. And Tater, Ilse's great black beast, has to be the friendliest dog in the world.

For those interested in hiking, Gorges State Park is about 8 miles south; its Rainbow Falls trail, at 4 miles out and back, was a lovely hike--a bit long for our age group, but pleasantly strenuous and not too crowded. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 10 miles away to the north--on the other side of Brevard. And the town itself is about 8 miles away. The Ingles Market in Brevard is a great place to stock up on groceries for your stay; or the Savemore, is a bit closer. Given the distances, we tended to eat breakfast and dinner at home and pack a lunch for the hike.

If you are looking for solitude, a beautiful setting, enjoyment of the outdoors, and some captivating animals, Falling Waters Farm is for you! We spent a week there and wish we had stayed longer.

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

The moment the gates opened, it seemed as we had reached the pearly gates. The afternoon sun was trickling in through the trees as we drove in. A perfect National Geographic moment that only a picture would do.

As we drove though to the top, we met w Tatar (the lovable dog) who greeted us w a big grin. He instinctively guided us to our wooded cabin. Somehow, he knows the routine well. We loved how caring he was. He never left our side.

Inside the cabin, everything is super clean and well organized. The kitchen, the bathrooms and the huge closet space. There is plenty of towels everywhere and there's an instruction manual at the entrance so you know how to work everything easily. There's even a list of good restaurants to visit. Again, everything is well organized.

On the 2nd day, we met with Ilse, who is the owner. She took out "Cafe" (the horse) out for a light jog in front of our cabin. "What a sight to see". It was almost like a show just for us. What a delight!!

We would have stayed in a 3rd night, but I accidentally booked it for 2 nights instead of 3 nights. What a shame! Ilse was willing to give up her own house for us. She was incredibly generous and gracious. That was too much to ask from her to do.

Hopefully, we can come again in the fall. WE LOVED OUR EXPERIENCE!!!

THANK YOU ILSE, TATAR (THE DOG), TOMMY (THE CAT) AND CAFE (THE HORSE).

Best Wishes,

John

Very nice, comfortable, quiet, and picturesque with all the special touches

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was well equipped and very clean. Linens were of exceptionally high quality. King bed was nice and firm. Master Closet was huge. Master Bathroom was very spacious for 2 people. Sample toiletries provided were very much appreciated and the organic shampoo, conditioner, and soap smelled lovely. Every detail was well thought out and it was obvious as to the pride and care taken by the owner in the cabin and property overall.

The grounds were well maintained and we enjoyed the peacefulness.

We would definitely recommend this rental due to all the above points plus the location was superb - close to Brevard, Hendersonville, Pisgah, and Asheville for shopping and hiking!

Beautiful property and a great host!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent two days at Ilse's place and loved every minute! The location is outside of town, but an easy drive. The cabin itself sits on a beautiful horse ranch with pastures and a meandering stream and small waterfall right outside. Ilse encouraged us to explore the property. We had a nice walk up to the stable and she even introduced us to her beautiful horses. Inside the cabin, there is everything you could ask for. It has a great open kitchen and living area. The master bedroom is a good size as is the master bath. The bed was comfortable. We didn't use upstairs, but it was nice as well. Ilse was a great host, very nice and interesting and she provided great recommendations. Overall, we would definitely recommend this property and hope to someday stay here again.

Excellent Hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

Ilse is a WONDERFUL host! Her cabin is well appointed - her bedrooms and bathrooms are luxurious, the kitchen is well stocked with supplies, and the grounds are immaculate. We enjoyed walking around her property and meeting Tater (her dog) and her horses. We really enjoyed the fresh-baked cookies and scones! The location was perfect for us - just off the highway with easy access to Brevard and Pisgah National Forest. We would certainly stay here again!
