Whether you love to canoe, kayak & fish, explore the N GA Mountain waterfalls & wineries or just relax and get away from it all, our beautiful mountain home is designed for a perfect vacation AND it's on Lake Lanier.
***Don't forget to ask about our boat rental discount at Gainesville Marina!
Our 3-story home is nestled down a lush, wooded hillside and the interior is decorated in whites, blues and nautical touches. The private platform dock is in plenty of water (narrow, private cove, but with steep underwater terrain) with room to tie up boats & jet skiis for the entire length of your stay. We have a 24' Ebbtide and a 17' Boston Whaler, that fit great!
This lake home is well appointed w/ 3 main/upper floor bedrooms AND a lower terrace level bedroom w/bath, bonus room w/kitchenette & Queen sleeper sofa. The 4 bedrooms all have an attached bath. The layout consists of 2 bedrooms with a Jack & Jill bath on the upper floor, Master bedroom w/ attached bath on the main floor, additional bedroom w/attached bath on the lower floor. The main floor features kitchen w/granite counters & a window seat/ breakfast nook, a dining area with 12 foot bench wall and large table, family room with wood burning fireplace that is open to a huge 3-sided glass Sunroom, perfect for bird watching and 'Oh, the views!'. This sunroom feels like a glass treehouse that is suspended over the lake. Comfortably furnished for coffee, cocktails or a well-deserved nap, the sunroom is one of our favorite spots! The lower terrace level features a 400+ square foot bonus room, Queen sleeper sofa, kitchenette and extra dining area, laundry 'room' and outside access.
The outside is just as wonderful! This 'Hidden Gem' has a large covered deck with wicker furniture, upper deck with patio table set, a grill area and several intimate outside seating areas. The walk to the lake is a short flight of stairs tthrough a lush selection of Mountain Laurel, Rhododendrun and Azalea and then a level path to the 2nd dock.
Our private platform dock, situated closer to the mouth of the cove in 'deep' water, is a party deck without the slip below. If you love to fish, you will delight at all the bait fish you can catch right off the dock. If water sports is your thing, you will be pleased with how many 'toys' you can fit around the dock and our proximity to boat ramps. Our outside areas provide plenty of places to dine, entertain, romp in the woods or just sit back and watch the lake.
Hidden Gem - Chestatee features two (2) 42' flat screen tv's (in the gathering rooms), cards/board games and magazines, wireless access, and a washer/dryer for your use.
Our lake home is perfect for families, friends, corporate retreats, girls weekends and 'Surprise' parties. Located 1 mile up from Nix Bridge Public Boat Ramp, 5 miles from the North Georgia Premium Outlets and a few miles from a beautiful golf course you are in a private escape, yet still close to it all. Golfing, tubing, wine country and waterfalls are just a bit North of our home. Dahlonega, w/ great shopping & dining, is just 20 minutes North. Alpine Helen, Cleveland and Brasstown Bald are within an hour. Whatever activities you love, Hidden Gem - Chestatee is a great place to enjoy it all!
As native Atlantans, we purchased this lake home to use as a weekend get-away and to share with others. We love to boat, fish, and paddle board, as well as explore the North Georgia Mountains and all they have to offer. We listed our other 'Hidden Gem' lake house on VRBO last year, with great success, so in 2014 we thought we would add another!
The Owner purchased this house in 2014
We fell in love with this lot. The home is more than halfway down a beautiful wooded lot, allowing the water to be closer, a bit deeper and affording great privacy. The cove is small and there is seldom any other traffic (except the great blue herons!) Come visit and see for yourself.
Tucked away on the North end of Lake Lanier, our home is ideal. Our cove opens up to great skiing areas and is only a mile from Nix Bridge public boat ramp. The views from the home are lovely. The homes in the area are well tended and our outside areas are completely private.
We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay. There were eleven of us - 6 adults and 5 teenagers. There was no problem with sleeping arrangements with the 4 bedrooms and several fold-out couches providing ample bedding. The three bathrooms proved to be just about adequate for our needs, although there was no hallway access to them...they had to be accessed from the bedrooms. The dock is is near the end of the lagoon but there was absolutely no problem docking our 24 foot motor boat or getting it in and out of the navigable water. We easily reached the non wake areas where we could ski. The shopping areas were 10 minutes from the house, and having to provide for a group of 11 we were making daily trips for supplies. I would recommend this house for large families - three floors gave everyone plenty of room to spread out.
Layout works great for a large party of 10-12, plenty of places to sleep. All the rooms are up to date, clearly recently renovated. The sun room is a great place to have coffee in the morning. Or just hang out and enjoy the view. The only drawback is the lack outside playing area for kids.
This place was amazing for a weekend getaway. Definitely recommend :)
Our extended stay at this home was great! The cookware in the kitchen could have been better, but otherwise everything was excellent!! The views from the glass porch were spectacular! We were able to rent a pontoon & bring it right to the dock. The climb down to the water was a little tricky for our 2 year old, but he managed ok. We would definitely stay here again!
This was a wonderful home for three families to come together and spend quality, relaxing time. We enjoyed grilling, swimming, and exploring the great outdoors. Amy was very helpful and responsive when we had questions regarding our stay. We had everything at the house we needed and shopping nearby. We enjoyed the lake during the day and grilling and campfires in the evenings. There are many stairs on the property and a canoe, peddle boat, and kayak. We got plenty of exercise, which we were all grateful for! We also rented two man kayaks and paddle boards from a local outdoor retailer for very reasonable prices. I would recommend securing a boat rental early if you plan on renting a boat. We waited until we got there and there were no boats available. We had a fabulous time!
We had a great family 4 day get away, with two families of 3 plus grandmother. The home was spacious enough for us to have privacy but still be close together. The kids enjoyed the bunk bed room. The kitchen was comfortably equipped, but you are close enough to good Georgia barbecue and other take-out options that you can skip cooking if desired! The location, at the end of a quiet small cove, was perfect for us as we don't enjoy the noise of motorboats on the lake. The canoe was perfect for morning paddles. The location is convenient to a great outlet mall, though we never wanted to leave the peace and quiet of the house! The sunroom on the main level is like a treehouse - it was so peaceful to sit there and look out at the trees and water.
Amy was very helpful as we were planning our trip and throughout our stay. Definitely install and use the VRBO app in preparation for your stay, as Amy has loaded it with lots of great information about the house and the area.
We did have some issues with the wifi not working on occasion, particularly with several people connected on various devices, but it would resume after we re-started the router. Be aware if you have AT&T cell service that the coverage is not strong down the hill at the house - we got usually one bar of LTE but sometimes we had no service (particularly in the basement). You can get a better signal at the top of the hill. The TV worked well!
Overall, this was a very comfortable place to spend time relaxing and recovering from the hectic pace of life! We can't wait to return sometime soon!
Several decks and patio areas including a grill right off of the kitchen. Perfect area for fishing, boating, biking, walking, nature watching and camping. 5 miles from the North Georgia Premium Outlets and Chestatee Golf Course. 15 minutes from Dahlonega, 30 minutes from Amicalola Falls and 45 minutes from Helen.
