About the property

Lots Of Fun And Privacy On This 12 Acre Sanctuary Close To The Lakes!

The ultimate vacation escape property with endless possibilities for recreation and relaxation. Bring family and friends - there is plenty of room and activities for everybody!

The property is the historic - original - Delihant farm home (circa 1900) that has been completely remodeled over the years. Spacious, sunny rooms with beautiful wood flooring in most common rooms.

The Main House and Guest House are located on a large hill-top with beautiful black walnut trees that create a shaded canopy over the four acre front yard. An additional eight acres (located behind the houses) have woods, ravines and plenty of nature watching and hiking for everyone.

The property is complete with a private pool, trampoline, zip-line, jungle gym, game room (ping pong, air hockey, foosball and tons of board games), recreation room - with a GIANT 75' TV screen ideal for movie night. Plenty available for never ending family fun.

You might never want to leave the property but if you do - nearby activities include, boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing on Long Lake, Clear Lake or Corey Lake. Public access to lakes and boat rentals are available. The area also has many rivers and is great for canoeing/kayaking (several locations offer rentals)

Horseback riding is available year round only a few miles away at Camp Eberhart (YMCA). There are several golf courses in the area and cycling is popular as well. Also, the extremely adventurous can try Powerchutes (powered parachute planes) at Rouch Outdoor.

The nearby town of Three Rivers has a charming Main Street with wonderful stores and restaurants. Also the town has several national chain grocery stores, restaurants, a movie theater, bowling alley, miniature golf and much more.

In the winter, Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard area is only six miles away. The property has a large private hill for sledding and on the many surrounding frozen lakes ice skating and ice fishing are popular activities.

Regardless of the season there is always plenty of activities for family and friends to have a great time together. This magnificent property has been a retreat for families for over 100 years.

Wonderful Family Reunion and Gathering for our youngest's wedding.

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to celebrate family. The kids were busy with whiffle ball, soccer, jumping on the trampoline, sharing two bonfires and swimming a couple of days. Unfortunately, the pool was having its problems. The caretaker came almost every day to adjust the chemicals and get it back to order. He certainly knew what he was doing, but since I have a pool myself, I know this can be tricky sometimes. We had plenty of space for sleeping and playing and also rooms to go to if you wanted to have some space and peace and quiet. We made several meals together and enjoyed visiting local markets for strawberries and cherries (even purchased a cool cherry seeder) and met the Latvian folks down the road who sell Latvian baked goods once a week. What a treat! Our son came to the house on his wedding day to dress, so we were all together getting all dressed up for the big event. The only downside was when everyone left the next morning. That's hard on a mother's psyche.

A Great Fit for our Family

  • 4 of 5

We brought our family of 9 adults and 5 children (2 were infants, thanks Maggie for letting us go over the 12 person occupancy) for a three- night stay. The house and grounds were a very good fit for our family, as we had no agenda and basically just enjoyed hanging out and being together without needing to worry about bothering anyone else with our noisy crew. The pool was wonderful. The beds were super comfortable, with quality sheets which to me is a deal-breaker. Well-stocked kitchen, plenty of places to sit for meals. The house has a lot of "old-house" quirks (creaky floors, doors) which to me were expected and charming.

The only downer was the fact that there is no plumbing in the guest house (a half bath would be wonderful) which meant late-night trips down the stairs, outside, and back in to the main house for one of our couples.

Some things could have been a tad cleaner, and the yard was not mowed, but we arrived on a Thursday which apparently is not the norm, so we may have taken the caretakers by surprise. All in all we're a laid-back bunch and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'd gladly come back another time - although by next year we will probably have exceeded the maximum capacity number.

The house looked just like its pictures. We had plenty of room to gather with our family and to find our own spaces.Everything we could need was provided and we enjoyed cooking and playing in the pool. We had a wonderful vacation surrounded by lakes and rivers.

Nice Pool and Grounds

  • 4 of 5

Large grounds, great heated pool with outdoor sitting area. Nice to sit under the covered porch area to get out of the sun/rain. We enjoyed the heated pool and wandering the grounds with our dogs. WiFi was good and worked well. Large TV was nice. When we wanted to BBQ the gas for the BBQ was empty, and no additional tank available. Had to call and it was taken care of. The BBQ catch tray was also overflowing with food and I had to empty it (Fire hazard). BBQ brush was filthy, so I bought a new one. Sure it's still there. Inside the microwave was dirty so we had to clean it out. Covered porch was infested with spiders, webs everywhere. Expect a few, but there were everywhere. Spent a couple days spraying. Fire pit area was invaded by a ground hog, another one was living under the carriage house. They were entertaining, but made us not want to have a fire. No chairs, only logs to sit on at the fire pit. Firewood was available, but get it at your own risk. Stairs in the home would be tough for older people. For the money, upstairs bath should be updated and stain in upstairs bedroom carpet and carriage house should have been cleaned. Walking the trash down and having to get it was a bummer. A TV in the main house would be nice, even if it only had a DVD player. A bathroom in the carriage house would work. Air hockey has seen it's better days. If you want to go into town to pick up anything, expect a little cruise. With the 'Estate', you're basically paying for the pool area and the grounds. House is nice and big, but nothing spectacular. Expected more for the money. Grounds and pool 5 stars, and house 3 stars.

Wonderful family gathering

  • 5 of 5

My family used this property while we were in the area for my son's wedding. We found the property to perfectly fit our needs. We invited my son's fiance's family for an afternoon barbeque and added to the wonderful occassion. We had adults visiting in the pool area, teens playing air hockey or watching big screen TV, and the younger kids on the trampoline or in the pool (heated for October use). Highly recommended!

Map

Fishing/water skiing and pontoon boats are available for rent for cruising the local lakes. Kayaks and canoes can be rented for trips down the many rivers. Horseback riding is available at stables close by. If you like picking your own fruits (seasonal) you can pick your own strawberries, grapes, apples and peaches at nearby orchards. Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard Area is only 7 miles away. Notre Dame is only 40 miles away if you want to watch a football game in the fall. Much to do any time of year!!
