About Owner/Manager Donna Caldwell

I grew up in Florida, moved to Texas and then California but I have called Western NC home for the past 25 years. I love the climate, the people and the mountains in this area. It is truly a wonderful place to live and vacation.

Owner/Manager Donna Caldwell purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Owner/Manager Donna Caldwell chose Sylva

I fell in love with this property from the moment I saw it. It has a very special feel about it and is private without being difficult to reach. I like spending time in this cottage in every season and others who have been here like it immediately too.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage is easily accessible from the highway, making it easy to get to shopping, recreation, and sightseeing locations. Yet, with no other houses visible nearby, it feels very private and secluded. That combination is hard to find in the mountains.

Blue Ridge Parkway Base

  • 4 of 5

Cottage is 2 miles or less to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance from US-74, very convenient for travelling on the Parkway. Both directions are amazing. Cottage is right off US-74 back and up enough to offer privacy. Some vehicles on 74 can be heard but it is not a huge issue. We enjoyed the porch swing, and tossing the football out back. Kitchen is pretty big and with granite counters, great for cooking there and eating in. Bathroom is updated too. On a rainy day we went to the American House Cat Museum at the Old School Antique Mall in Sylvia. Over in Waynesville one can find familiar fast food chains and mom and pop restaurants.

Convenient

  • 5 of 5

Was where we wanted to be to get on Blue Ridge Parkway; even though it was a major

highway.. It was as described; and everything was set up to make convenient for us. We had to leave before our departure on 8-30-17. My Mother passed. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. Thank you

Cute! Cozy! Comfortable! Convenient!

  • 4 of 5

My two work companions and I stayed there for a week while on a business trip. We really enjoyed it. The cabin is very nice and comfortable and it was located very conveniently on Hwy 74 which was a straight shot to the town we were working in. I would definitely stay there again!!
