About the property

This antique country farmhouse is near the Thomaston town center offering a country setting with town amenities. A short drive to summer activities and festivals in the Rockland, Camden area. One and a half hours from Portland or Bangor. Where the mountains meet the sea, take pleasure in the nearby beaches, parks, lobsters, light houses, lakes, golf, skiing in winter. Many scenic and historical sites for day trips. An hour to Bowdoin or Colby colleges.

The home has 3,075 feet of tidal frontage on the Oyster River. There are three bedrooms and a bath, one double bed first floor, two single beds in rooms upstairs. Other bed arrangements can be made for longer stays if needed. It has a washer dryer, and all bedding etc. is included. Enjoy the mowed walking trails through 50 acres of hay fields. If lucky you may, toward dusk, spot an albino deer in a field by the pine woods. Lots of other animal and birds to see.

Pet and child friendly. Owned by artists living in the pumpkin colored farm house next door. A private painting lesson can also be arranged or ask for a tour of the barn and studio.

Feel free to pick the raspberries when in season and enjoy the gardens. A nice collection of games and reading material for a rainy day, also wifi and cable television.

Take a walk to the small cabin in the back field. Sit by a campfire in the evening. Listen to the peepers and watch fireflies sparkle in summer evenings.

Beautiful historic farmhouse!

  • 5 of 5

Tim and Susan were wonderful hosts. They provided a nice assortment of treats in the fridge when we arrived, we had full access to their wonderful property and had questions answered whenever we had them. As an added bonus we got to view the art they produce on site and had a chance to start our collection! What a perfect spot to enjoy a weekend in Mid-coast Maine in the fall.

Peacefull, beautiful, classic.

It was absolutely lovely. The water in the back is tidal, so keep an eye out for the tide if you want to kayak! It was so quiet and peaceful. I liked the little deck, which we is took the chairs from.

Wonderful New England farm

  • 5 of 5

The house and surroundings was everything described and more. Plenty of room in the house and the yard was great for our dog! Close to local attractions but with a country feel. Tim and Susan were wonderful hosts and provided great info to local attractions. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Very nice property

  • 4 of 5

The property is a lovely farmhouse with a lot of period details and you can tell that the owners take pride in it. We had a pleasant stay. We were there for 2 nights for a conference, so we were not able to use many of the amenities, but the owners truly had some nice touches like the artwork on the walls, and some excellent spices, and other items in the fridge. We really enjoyed 'eating in', and the owners were very flexible with our arrival time due to my work commitments. The only negative was the back bedroom where our teenaged son stayed. He remarked that even with the very nice radiator space heater the owners provided and the bed quilts, it was quite chilly. It probably wouldn't be from spring through fall, but November nights in Maine can be cold.

Excellent location and property, well-appointed, charming owners. Back bedroom was cold.

  • 5 of 5

Easy to Rockland, Rockport, Camden area. Not too far from Bar Harbor. Great walking trails on property. Excellent, friendly owners. Back bedroom was quite cold, but workable with spaceheaters. House had enough basics to get started and the DW and laundry were very useful. Outdoor fireplace made for a wonderful way to end a day spent exploring. Very good value.

Our recent stay at the Thomaston house was wonderful; Tim and Susan are wonderful hosts - and housekeepers. The house was very comfortable and a beautiful setting for what I am sure is a very small example of the talented family/host's artwork. Every amenity was made available - from fresh milk and yogurt in the fridge, to a first aid kit, laundry soap, spices, interesting reading materials and a solid internet connection.

It was a great pleasure to walk in the surrounding fields and there is a perfect bench in a perfect location on which to sit and look out over the fields at the perfect little surprise shed that contains just the right things. We weren't able to take advantage of the kayak that was provided but next time will use it to paddle down the Oyster River which adjoins the property.

The greatest pleasure was talking with Tim, Susan and their family. They are welcoming and helpful and totally not intrusive. They are the perfect neighbors in addition to being excellent hosts.
