Absolutely charming farmhouse in a wonderful town.
Prior to this trip I had never been to Maine and I think this is the perfect place to stay to get to know the real Maine. My family and I absolutely loved this property. With its original wood floors and farmhouse doors it feels like you are taking a step back into history without giving up our modern conveniences. The house has plenty of space to spread out and a big yard for the kids to play in. It is off the beaten path away from the more touristy locations, which was just what we were looking for. However, it is close enough to areas like Bar Harbor, Camden, Rockland, and Acadia National Park to still be able to enjoy those destinations as well. My family and I really enjoyed staying here. There were beautiful sunsets on the beach (An easy 3/4 mile walk through the woods), amazing stars at night (only lights in sight are from the house), and the people of Castine are the friendliest people you will ever meet. Also, if you like cook the kitchen was well equipped with all the utensils you need to prepare a meal, which in my experience is unusual for a rental property. The owner was extremely helpful in providing information about the area from things to do to information about seafood markets and grocery stores. He is absolutely committed to customer satisfaction and making your stay as wonderful as possible. I am already planning my next family trip to Maine and will be looking to stay here again.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. You were great guests and I look forward to seeing you again.
Great house/ Beautiful property
My family of five loved our week at this beautiful and comfortable property. The photos don't do justice to the bright, open spaces in the house. My children (ages 4, 5, 8) loved exploring at the private beach that is about a half-mile walk through a pine forest on the property. The location is central to so much of the natural beauty that this area of Maine offers, though it is about an hour drive from Acadia National Park if that's your focus. We spent two days at the Park and didn't really mind the drive, as it provided nap time for our exhausted kids. Wadsworth Cove, right in Castine, is a beautiful (though icy) beach that is just ten minutes from the house. We would definitely recommend this house, and we might very well be back, ourselves.
Great place to unwind.
Very nice property close to Castine and an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Great place to unwind. Jeff, the owner, was very attentive to an needs or requests we had. We would defiantly recommend this property.
Thank you for your feedback and it was a pleasure having you as guests. There is so much more to do and see here and I hope you will come back.
Charming with Lots of Character
We came and stayed for 10 days and loved the home, the berries ready available for picking and the beautiful easy walk down to the private beach. Great place, and the owner is wonderful to deal with.
Most relaxing and stress free vacation yet
It's the perfect place for me and my family. We will be booking this place in the future. The gardens are beautiful and he has thought of everything for you. From dish soap and shampoo to paper towels and even bug spray. He was also thoughtful enough to leave out games and coloring books for the kids. It was much more then we expected. We all really felt at home here even my grandma.
Great country charm for a stay in Maine
My wife, her sister and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there August 18 thru the 25th. Enjoyed the country charm of the home. A really neat deck on the back side of the house is great place to enjoy a glass of wine and taking in the view of the property. Walked .7 mile behind the property to a beautiful bay. Easy drives to Castine, Acadia National park, Bar Harbor and other points of interest. A nice country landscape to enjoy.
All the amenities one would need for a weeks stay.
I will give this home an A+ for cleanliness, a place to kick back and have fun.
