We Had a Great Time at the Otter Point Beach House

  • 4 of 5

We were two older couples looking for a place to relax and enjoy the ocean. This house worked well for us. It was clean, well equipped, nicely landscaped, and had great views and easy access to the Strait of Juan De Fuca beach. The owner, Danica, was easy to deal with and responded quickly when we had a problem with internet access. We were a little disappointed that no otters dropped by but spent considerable time watching the herons fishing in the kelp quite close to the house and the quail and deer that wandered through the yard.

If it was possible I would have rated our stay at four and a half stars as there was very little to complain about. I found the beach a little difficult to walk on because of the way it sloped down to the water and the fact that it was pebbles with no sand. The information book provided by the owner had considerable info but we couldn't find details on what items were to be recycled. I would also suggest that the owner provide better mats to wipe the pine needles off your feet as you enter, especially at the top of the stairs where you come in from the patio.

When you stay here take time to go down the street to the Kemp Lake Store Cafe for good food and conversation.

LOVELY FAMILY HOME IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION

  • 4 of 5

This property sits right on the beach and is a great spot for walks along the pebble (not sandy) beach and for launching kayaks, though the water is very cold around this part of Vancouver Island, so only suitable for hardiest of souls! Most of the property is on the level with one double sized bedroom upstairs with an en-suite shower room. From this upstairs bedroom you can step out through patio doors onto a lovely deck area with southerly views over the Juan De Fuca Strait to the beautiful Olympic Mountains (though deck chairs could do with replacing). There are two bedrooms downstairs with one bathroom, dining area and lovely living room with large windows looking out to sea. The kitchen was well stocked. Danica has thoughtfully provided lots of board games, books and lawn games (bowls and croquet) for guests to enjoy. There is also a laundry room to the rear. Outside there is a dining area with a large table under cover, a gas bar-b-q and a great fire pit, ideal for sitting round at night under the stars (though we brought a gas burner as there was a fire ban while we were there). There's also a fantastic hot tub which was clean and well maintained. There's also a large double garage and workshop which is not accessible to guests. The house is in a great location to visit the south west corner of the island - we managed trips to Port Renfrew (for lovely fresh salmon and crabs), Victoria City, and Mystic & China (sandy) beaches. Danica was easy to deal with and there was no problem with communication. Thanks for giving us a wonderful family holiday!

Great family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Otter Point Beach House on several occasions and have enjoyed our stay every time. We have small children who are endlessly entertained by the beach and the nooks and crannies of the property and the adults always love the hot tub.

Danica is easy to communicate with, responsive and accommodating, the house is welcoming and well equipped and is situated beautifully.

We will keep coming back.

Great location on the west coast!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great weekend at the beach house! Amazing views, the beach is quite nice, not sandy, but nice and clean, quite large at low tide. Great views from up on the rocks to look at 2 different bays. The yard is awesome for Bocce ball, and it has a great fire pit. The hot tub is quite large and was very clean. The beds were all comfortable we had no complaints. Large kitchen, with pretty much everything you need. Some aluminum foil would have been nice but you could always just bring some with you. The dishwasher worked great and made cleanup easy. There's plenty to do in the area, some great beaches, and decent restaurants. There's parking enough for 4 large vehicles. The owner was great to deal with, and communication was very easy. I think for the price this place would be hard to beat, we would definitely come back again, thanks Danica!
