Best way to see Central Scotland!
This place is awesome. Conveniently located to everything you need to see in the Edinburgh/Glasgow area. We especially appreciated the hostess' recommendation about how to get in to Edinburgh using the Park and Ride near the Airport. Scotland uses GPS a lot (they call it "Sat Nav" and it really works well. We learned after the first day that there are better ways to access the motorway system (and indeed how to get to the property) than our Sat Nav told us. I would recommend the owners put that in to their info in some place. Email me if you want more details! Also, it is a shame that big house blocks what would be an awesome view from the cottages, but not much to be done about that! The cottages are roomy and well equipped. Stay here if you are in the "Central Belt" of Scotland!
A wonderful, clean place to have a break in. Really liked it, very friendly people. Thank you very much.
Lovely and Inviting
This is my fourth visit to this particular property. It is consistently lovely and the new owners are wonderful hosts. Convenient and close to everything, it makes a great base for exploring southern Scotland.
Our cottage stay at Linlithgow was so comfortable and inviting. We were treated grand.
Our hostess as well as the gracious people from Linlithgow made our time there memorable. The town and sites made our week fly by too fast .
Well presented, comfortable cottage
A very good setting to see & explore this part of Scotland, convenient from main roads and close to town, should you wish. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable with everything one could require for a short stay.
Communication with the owner was easy; good welcome despite late evening arrival. Initial provisions excellent and plate of cake, a nice touch. Thank you.
Well equiped and clean cottage
Nice place to stay, well equiped, clean and a nice contact! I would recommend this to everyone who wants to stay in this area (to visit Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, St.Andrews, ...). The cottage has a good motorway connection (but it is still very quite!)
- Try the restaurant in the hotel next to the cottages, it has good conditions
- Visit the palace (especially when you're having children)
- look for local festivals
- you can walk to Linlithgow from the cottage
- many supermarkets there
Thank you for the very positive comments. Delighted you enjoyed ytour stay at Linlithgow Cottages.

The cottage is situated about 1.5 miles outside the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, near Edinburgh - just 15 miles from Edinburgh City Centre. The train service from Linlithgow to Edinburgh is every 30 minutes, and regular train services go to Stirling and Glasgow. Linlithgow Cottage is a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh airport. The road links in the area are excellent. About 1.5 miles from Junction 3 of the M9 motorway and 5 miles from the M8 motorway, the cottage is the perfect location for those who want to tour Central Scotland, Perthshire, the Kingdom of Fife and the Southern Highlands, all of which can be reached by car in half an hour or so. The nearest golf course is a five minute walk and there are numerous cycle routes surrounding the cottages. This is the ideal location for those who would like to be near Edinburgh, but out of the busy city itself.
