About Christy Carreno
Hi, We're Van & Christy. We are fun loving and active people. We love living in San Diego and take the time to enjoy the many things there are to do here. We spend a lot of time camping and exploring Baja. Van has been venturing south most of his life, and has introduced it all to Christy. He will never get enough of his adventures south of the border. Christy has been a runner for much of her life and traveled out to many other cities in pursuit of a good run in a great city. She's traveled all over the world, many trips she took were by herself which she says were a great way to meet new people. We both have a lot of family in town, including grown kids, and are currently looking forward to the wedding of Van's oldest son. We live on the property, in the front house, and are happy to help with any of your plans. The cottage is behind the house and is very charming. We know you will love it!!
Christy Carreno purchased this Cottage in 1975

Kensington cottage is super cute and in a great location
We loved experiencing the Kensington neighborhood of San Diego. The cottage was quiet, cute, private and just right for the two of us.
Quiet, comfortable cottage
Kensington cottage was perfect for our San Diego weekend get-a-way. Quiet and comfortable, it had everything we needed. We loved the walkable neighborhood of Kensington. Plenty of restaurants nearby, and a Von's grocery a short drive away. The cottage is a short drive from downtown and many attractions. We loved our stay and hope to return when we're in San Diego again. Thanks for a lovely weekend.
Nice looking little apartment
We arrived late at night, and the owner was very accommodating. Everything that we used in the apartment worked properly. We did not spend much time there, as we basically just slept there. Overall happy with the place. Thanks
My experience at this adorable cottage in Kensington was nothing less than perfect. The way they have the property set up is totally private, and the cottage had everything I needed, not to mention it is right in the heart of town and has other amenities nearby. The owners were flexible and friendly, overall, 5 star experience!
We loved the property, it was exactly as advertised, the only reason that we didn't give 5 stars is the gas range is in need of repair, it doesn't light as it should. The property owners and the other tenant were friendly and respectful of giving you your space. We would stay again if we come to town.
i rented this place for the whole month of July. I made sure it would be a place that had air conditioning. Technically, I guess you could say it did. It was a small AC unit that did not cool the place off. The windows are sealed and there's no ventilation. Very uncomfortable and hot.
I left after 2wks. They rented out the place for the next 2 weeks, but refused to give me a 2 wk. refund. VERY disapointing. Also, the place looks bigger and more roomy in the pics, then it actually is. Won't be returning.
We love being VRBO hosts and have made many new friends and had many returning guests. However, our guest Kathy was nothing short of unreasonable and her claims are just plain untrue. The windows in the cottage do open, and along with the two doors, it gets great cross ventilation. The air conditioning unit in the cottage is more than sufficient to keep it cool. We have never had a complaint, or even a conversation about the temperature in the cottage with any guest, and the cottage is constantly occupied. Kathy was not enjoying the heat wave in San Diego during her stay, and we believe she was looking for a way out. We did refund her for two weeks even though we didn't have to and we took a loss for the month. Her claims that we rented the cottage to someone else for the last two weeks are untrue and she knows that. We had let her know that we would not be able to rent it out as we were traveling and didn't have anyone available to manage the turnover. We also had neighbors comment about her bad attitude. I would not recommend renting to her.
Kensington is a charming community in central San Diego. From the library and charming parks, to the two coffee houses (Starbucks and Kensington Café) to the last independent single screen theater in San Diego, the Ken Theater. And of course, you will have many great restaurants within walking distance including Blue Boheme, Cucina Sorella, Ponces (my very favorite Mexican restaurant in San Diego), Burger Lounge, and the Haven for great pizzas and salads. To relax with a drink, there is the Ken Club, the Vine or Clem's tasting room. Just down the street in Normal Heights and North Park is filled with great restaurants and breweries. You will love Kensington!
