Bushwick is a neighborhood popular with artists and students, and filled with interesting bars, delicious restaurants, and underground art craziness. As is typical with any neighborhood experiencing rapid gentrification, you get the best of both worlds, which in Bushwick's case means tasty latin food and an ever expanding selection of hip coffee shops, bars, and restaurants.
You are walking distance to anything you could possibly need: supermarkets, restaurants, delis, bars, wine shops, parks, performance art spaces, galleries, etc.. A new restaurant or cafe seems to open up here every weekend.
The apartment is conveniently located 5 minutes from the L train, which takes you to Union Square and all along 14th street in Manhattan, and 3 minutes from the M train, which runs through the Lower East Side, Chelsea, and the MoMA/ Central Park area in midtown. Travel time to Manhattan is about 15 minutes.
No smoking and no pets please.
Check out is at 11 AM, but late-checkout might be possible to arrange upon request—if it does not interfere with other reservations of course.
No other guests allowed who are not part of the reservation.
Hi! I'm Roger. I've called NYC home for the past 8 years and love to show guests and visitors around. I've been in Bushwick for 6 years and have witnessed the neighborhood transform before my eyes. Bushwick is hands down the coolest part of Brooklyn, with a burgeoning art scene, hip cafes, restaurants and shops popping up all over the place, and tasty latin food galore! I love meeting people from all over the world and I look forward to hosting you in my beautiful home!
Roger Miller purchased this condo in 2008
We loved everything about our stay at this condo. It is exactly as pictured and was clean and well stocked with everything we could need. The neighborhood was diverse and full of great places to eat within walking distance. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of pillow and linens. The space is what made this a great choice for us with three roomy bedrooms, two in the back and one in the front. Roger was a great host! He was prompt and attentive to all of our needs, even going above and beyond to check up on us via email and offer suggestions for local favorite attractions. We LOVED the balcony!! It was awesome to just sit outside in the evening and watch the people go by. We were literally able to park our van right outside the unit for free. We had no trouble moving it on the two days they were cleaning the street, and again finding a very close spot when we moved it back. The condo has great light and energy! It was close to both the L and M train with easy access to Manhattan. Very grateful to have found this condo and to have worked with Roger. We loved it so much we asked to stay and extra night which Roger graciously arranged for us! We will definitely stay here again!
Apartment was comfortable and well located - close to subway. although the area is quite busy during the day, it was surprisingly quiet at nite. There were 3 couples but we had enough room. Roger was easy to contact while we were there and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
My friend and I came to NYC for a long weekend to see the Belmont Stakes (way to go, Creator!). There was supposed to have been three of us, but our third had a family emergency and couldn't come. The flat was easily big enough for the two of us, and three of us would have done just fine. It comes completely equipped, as advertised. It is surprisingly quiet, very clean, everything works, and it was easy to keep cool with the window AC in each bedroom. The balcony is small, but a great place for the last drink of the day. Roger was very attentive via e-mail (we didn't get to meet each other; he was out of town), and the check-in process was seamless.
The neighborhood was the pleasant surprise for me. It still has a bit of a family feel, with lots of mom and pop bars and restaurants within a few blocks. We found ourselves staying in our neighborhood to eat and drink rather than heading to Manhattan, but Manhattan is only about 22 minutes via subway, with a subway stop around the corner then 3 blocks down Wycoff. Belmont Park, for you racing enthusiasts, is about 40 minutes by subway and LIRR.
We're already planning on or return trip next year, and are going to book this place (if it's available).
Roger's home was perfect for our party of 5. The location is very close to the subway and in a quaint neighborhood. The rooms were spacious, the apartment was clean and communicating with Roger was a breeze. He checked in almost daily to ensure we were OK and to see if we ever needed anything. If you're looking for a great spot in New York, then this is it!
There were four of us and we were all amazed at the amount of space we had. The apartment was very clean! Though we drove much of the time, we did brave the subway. It was only .25 to .50 miles away. Roger was a very gracious host. I would recommend his home to others to rent.
Our family of six stayed in Roger's apartment for four nights over Memorial Day weekend. Everything was great! The apartment is clean, roomy, comfortable, and well stocked with needed and convenience items. We were concerned it might be a little too far from Manhattan, but in and out of the city was a piece of cake. The neighborhood is also great - many places to eat, drink or pick up things you might need. Roger was very responsive and easy to reach - a great host. Among other helpful things, he provides a long list of his favorite local businesses with his comments about what's best about them. Highly recommend this gem!
