Overview

About the property

2 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 5

With one bedroom plus a sleeping loft and one bathroom, this cabin offers an unparalleled view of the Rainbow River which can be enjoyed from the hammock, the hot tub, the outdoor dining area or the patio area. This family-friendly rental sits at about the midpoint of the river and is bordered by the Florida State Greenway.

The cabin is ideal for the nature lover. Spring brings the blue herons to nest in the cypress in front of the house. You can see the different creatures as the day progresses: ducks in the early morning, blue heron fishing at mid-day, the hummingbird and otters in the evening, and the owl at dusk. Nature provides an ever evolving show right from the comfort of the deck.

Activities include swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, and everyone’s favorite: tubing down the river. The spring water is 73 degrees year round so if that's not to your liking you can enjoy the screen enclosed hot tub overlooking the river.

The cabin has one bedroom and a sleeping loft and is suitable for up to four. Families of more than four are discouraged but may be considered on a case by case basis for an additional charge. Come enjoy the natural beauty of this gem the locals affectionately call the' Blue Run.'

About Dwight

I am about as close to Tom Sawyer as you will find. I grew up running around in the woods along the Rainbow River shirtless and barefoot. We would fish off of anything that would float and we had no qualms about sneaking out and bass fishing off of someone's dock when they left for the supermarket. My first home as an adult was an old cracker style house downstream on the Blue Run. (It was not much of a house). That house is still standing and will for a long time because it stayed in the family and now belongs to one of my closest friends. If you float down you can see the place on the east bank. You can recognize it on weekends because it is the only place with plastic lawn furniture set up out in the river. Give them a shout on the way by. They are fine southern folks. We all remember the river the way it was before it was discovered, but that was a long time ago and we can't undiscover it, so we welcome our visitors. I'm glad I got to see it then in its more natural state. I hope my visitors enjoy the river as much as I have. -Dwight

We had a wonderful time again at the cabin. Can't wait to come back. Relaxing and great family time together. So much beautiful nature. We had a fun time kayaking and snorkeling in the spring.

Breathtaking!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second family vacation spent at the wonderful Blue Run Cabin and it won't be our last! Sad to leave, but grateful for the time that we were able to spend there. This cabin is perfectly appointed inside and out. The owner/manager is very easy to deal with. Clean and well maintained with all the amenities you could ask for. Thanks again Dwight!

Absolute Heaven on earth!

  • 5 of 5

We took mom and dad to the river for their 60th anniversary. The weekend was Everything we hoped for. Although the river was busy with Tubers during day, it was very entertaining to see all the different types of floats go by and since they were on the other side of the river, we still felt as though we had our privacy. Early morning, late afternoon and early evening, we sat out on the dock and just enjoy quiet nature. Since the water is crystal clear you could see right down to the bottom and see fish, turtles, and otters playing in the water. This was also the ideal time to go out and do a little stand up paddle boarding or kayaking. The water was ideal for swimming and splashing about as well. With games and books in the cabin, there was no shortage of things to do. I would highly recommend this cabin for any small family.

Privacy, beauty, amazing flora and fauna, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, what more could one ask for? There is something for everyone and the host has kindly provided for inside entertainment should weather impact outdoor plans. Our family including two canines enjoyed every minute.
