Lovely home in a beautiful quite setting
Renting from Mary was fantastic. She was communicative and organized. The house is lovely and exactly as described. It was spacious, clean and well-equipped. The lake was great and we even braved the autumn temperatures to swim. We would stay in this house again in a heartbeat.
Everything We Could Ask For!
I stayed at Mary's beautiful home from Thursday-Sunday with a group of seven friends. This house is everything we could have asked for! It was private, peaceful and relaxing. We didn't want to leave!! Once crossed a bridge, pulled off the main road and made a trek up a mile stretch of dirt road we felt like we were in paradise. During the day, we floated on the private lake on rafts, used the paddle board and kayak, and tossed frisbees/footballs on the stretch of grass lakeside. At night, we played guitar, reminisced and roasted marshmallows around the fire pit. We did have one day of rain (Friday) but there was a section of covered porch that allowed us to continue to use the grill and stay dry! The house was plenty big for our group even when we were all inside watching Netflix, playing cards, or taking naps. :) This was the long-weekend we all needed and appreciate how responsive Mary was to any questions or concerns. Thanks Mary for everything - your house and property is a gem!
We had a lovely time at Mary's charming Catskills cabin! It was very clean and comfortable. Great for my family with several adults. 4 year old had a great time with all the toys in the basement. Lake wasn't the best swimming lake for kids to wade in (plus we saw several snakes around the shore) but once we got out to the middle dock we could jump in. I loved the quiet and seclusion, other members of my family wanted to be a bit closer to some action. (For example, about 30 mins away was a fun alpaca farm! We highly recommend a visit.) Town of Roscoe was small yet charming and we had some great meals out. We would definitely come back again to Mary's house! Thanks, Mary!
Beautiful location; comfortable and well maintained home
We enjoyed the lake and the well kept house. Very accurate description of this excellent home. Excellent communication with the owner.
Perfect House for Quiet Getaway
My family and I spent a 3 day weekend here and absolutely loved it. The property is well maintained and the house is very clean. The owner does a great job labeling where everything is located and has most of the staple supplies. The lake / pond my be small, but it is very private and there is still plenty of space to paddle-board, kayak, and row (all of which was provided). Fire pit was great for roasting marshmallows and there was even Wifi and Netflix for the one evening it rained. We were very happy with our stay and certainly recommend.
Thank you Jeff, I would let this group stay anytime they had dogs with them and not a sign they where here they left house clean and I found them to be very good guests
Wonderful! Perfect Relaxing Weekend Getaway in a Great House!
We came as a group of 10 friends (3 couples, 4 singles) and had the perfect, relaxing fall getaway. The pictures don't do the house or property justice. The property is great- you basically have your own private pond/mini-lake on which you can kayak, rowboat, or do standup paddle (all provided, which was awesome) or sit in the screened-in gazebo or on the dock. There were 3 other houses alongside the lake but we never saw anyone else out there.
The house itself is bigger than I expected. The top deck adjacent to the Master loft area was perfect hangout to sip your coffee in the mornings while peeking through the trees down at the lake. We spent a lot of time as a group on the ground floor deck, eating lunch outside and playing card games at night. The Master loft area is beautiful, but note that this is completely open so be sure you have a person or two that is OK with limited privacy - the tradeoff is the gorgeous bathroom and jacuzzi tub. The bedrooms on the main level were great for couples - bigger than expected and the beds were very comfortable. The basement was much larger than expected and slept 4 single people, with room to double-up in two of the beds if necessary! The kitchen was great - large enough for a group of us to cook in and we were able to squeeze all 10 of us in at the kitchen table for group meals. The one (tiny) downfall of the house was the insulation: sound carries well throughout the house, so if you are downstairs or in the bedrooms on the first floor, you hear most walking around or talking that happens in the living room (unless people make a big effort to be really quiet). BUT, on the flipside, the doors to the back deck are really, really soundproof! People could be talking loudly and listening to music on the deck just outside of the living room, and you'd have no idea anything was happening outside :) So, if people want to stay up late and be loud, just get them to stay on the deck!
Another important detail is that the place was VERY clean and well-stocked. We had plenty of room in the refrigerator and freezer, every cooking utensil we could think of, and Mary even had spaces in the bathroom cabinets labeled "guest" and "private" - she is so well organized! Last but certainly not least, Mary was a perfect communicator and a very flexible host. She offered us an early check-in as well as a late checkout, and was extremely polite and timely with all communication. We will absolutely come back!
