About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6

Hidden Country Home on Five Acres of Redwood Forest. This handcrafted European-barn style home with a separate suite that has a full bath (addition fee). Please see “Country Creek Suite” listing for reservation details. Completed in 2014, this gorgeous home features all modern amenities. The home sits on a very private five-acre parcel surrounded by open fields and a 150 year-old Redwood forest. The house is accessed by its’ own private bridge over Jacoby Creek. Although the house is in a quiet, rural setting, it is just four miles to HSU and downtown Arcata.

This is a beautiful three bedroom home with a separate suite that has a full bath (addition fee). Please see “Country Creek Suite” listing for reservation details. The main living space is on the second floor, contributing to the feeling of privacy and enhancing the views. There are two bedrooms on this level and a full loft bedroom that makes its’ own secluded hideaway. The owners have paid particular attention to their guests sleeping comfort. In addition to the quiet area, all beds (some temper-pedic, some traditional) are equipped with down comforters and an assortment of pillows. One of the bedrooms has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a queen size bed. The loft on the third floor has a queen sized bed and view of the surrounding fields and woods.

It has a well-equipped modern kitchen, reverse osmosis water filter, open floor plan and a sunny balcony perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks. The bathroom has a claw foot tub, separate tiled shower and a sauna to relax in after a long day of exploring.

The Creek House is intimate enough for a couple's romantic retreat but spacious enough to sleep six in the main living area. There is a separate downstairs suite adjacent to the garage with its own bathroom and king size bed that can be rented at an additional cost.

There is a ping pong table in the garage space under the main living area and discs for playing disc golf in the meadow and surrounding woods. The house has WI-FI and cable.

Outside, there is an outdoor eating area, barbecue and fire pit with a view of the forest and meadows, where you would likely see deer browsing at the end of the day. Low season monthly pricing is available. Just ask us about it.

Right from the property you’ll have access to a trail in the redwood forest through the 20 plus acre Jacoby Creek Land Trust property. Other nearby outdoor possibilities for walks or bike rides are the Arcata Marsh, Redwood Park and the Arcata Community Forest, all less than ten minutes away. The Community Forest is open to mountain bikes and equestrians and also has a full disc golf course. Redwood Park and the Arcata Community Center have children’s playgrounds.

The Arcata Plaza area has many shopping, eating, drinking, and entertainment options, and Beachcomber Café and Espresso is just a two mile drive or bike ride from the Creek House. The Plaza also hosts a vibrant Farmers Market Saturday mornings, through October, with live music and prepared food as well as local farm fare-a great place to gather food for a picnic!

In the summer, the Humboldt Crabs play some of the most competitive semi-pro baseball you’ll see anywhere-attending a game is a great way to get a taste of the flavor of small town life in Arcata!

Old town Eureka is 15 minutes south and Trinidad, with its’ scenic beaches, is 20 minutes north. Major state parks, including Patrick’s Point and Prairie Creek Redwoods are all 40 minutes or less to the north.

Trinidad and Eureka have commercial fishing charters, in season, for salmon (summer) and rockfish. The lagoons north of Trinidad are also potential fishing spots.

The surrounding area has many notable breweries and wine tasting rooms where you can taste the local fare, including Redwood Curtain Brewery in Arcata, Mad River Brewing in Blue Lake and Moonstone Crossing Tasting in Trinidad. Blue Lake is also home to the Mad River Festival, hosted by the international acclaimed Dell'arte International School of Physical Theatre, during summer

Reviewer Comments:

This vacation rental house is in good private location. Surrounded by trees and no other houses nearby. 10 min drive to nearby town and safeway. Bonfire place and lot of wood, fire starter was there. Fully equipped kitchen. Oil/butter is the only missed item. Behind the house, there is a trail going into the deep woods. Stayed 2 nights, it was a wonderful experience.

This was the perfect home for my family. Loved the bridge that led to the house. The house is very private, newer and clean. We enjoyed playing ping pong, sitting by the fire pit, and walking the trail. We will definitely stay here again.

Nice location, the cabin was very comfortable and nice inside. Only thing I did not understand, was why was the small bed in the room with the walk in closet. Staff was very friendly.

Reviewer Comments:

From the first glimpse of a fox across the bridge spanning the creek the property was just what we were looking for. Restful and comfortable. It felt secluded and in a world of its own. We especially enjoyed watching the deer in the meadow through the windows or while sitting around the firepit. The rental company was responsive and pleasant from our first contact through checkout. We'd love to stay there again.
