Delight in the experience of exploring the town where 'Fried Green Tomatoes' was filmed. People come from as far away as Australia to enjoy this town! Shop for antiques and gifts in shops featured in the movie. Eat lunch at the Whistle Stop Café where barbeque was served in the movie and enjoy the delicious fried green tomatoes. Enjoy kayaking, tubing and fishing at the park in town or put your boat in at Lake Juliette and catch a magnificent bass on a lake that Georgia Outdoor News brags is one of the best bass fishing spots in the state. Other lakes that are close by are Lake Jackson and Lake Tobosofkee. You can also catch a production of a community theatre production such as the 'Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' in downtown Forsyth at the Rose Theater and eat Southern cooking at The Grits Café next door. After a fun filled day, come back to Mill House Cottage. This cottage is well laid out with an open living room/dining room/kitchen combination, two bedrooms, one bath and a huge garden tub to relax in. A wonderful front porch invites you to finish the day off with a cup of sweet iced tea to reflect on the adventures of the day.
We came for neices wedding & stayed in Juliette to see all the filming locations of Fried Green Tomatoes. We loved our cabin. It's well stocked with all your needs. Washer & dryer included. Keep in mind it's a 100 year old property but everything is well maintained. We look forward to our next stay here.
This was a neat old wooden cottage, dating back over 100 years. Looking closely you can see the additions on the original two room structure. The house has all basic modern appliances, we even did two loads of laundry. What you won't find is a dish washer (other than a pair of hands), cable tv, or wireless internet. But, if you are staying in an old wooden cottage, do you really want those items. It is a great place to unwind and be a little more rustic. We even had a deer visit us, around 2pm in the day time, right out the back deck.
We did experience a small mechanical issue with the frig, but one phone call and an hour later we had someone there looking at it. The cottage is old and there has been some renovations and improvements. There are a few more items on the check list that the owner may be working on. So, do not expect a perfect cottage. Keeping that in mind, it was a great visit. Georgia even went out of her way to make us feel welcome with a few special items, some we asked for, and a few we did not.
One recommendation that would really assist future visitors, especially if showing up in the dark. There is no mail box or address sign for this house. It is actually tucked away behind a white house on the street. The drive way is part gravel and dirt and there are a few ruts to work with. So, keep that in mind if you visit the cottage.
It served the purpose that we needed. We were in town for a conference in Macon and the location was. Great and so was the pricing. The only complaints were spiders were every where and we couldn't get the television to work also. It would be nice if it had Wi-Fi also, but overall we had fun.
We have stayed at this cabin multiple times. It has been the perfect getaway spot for our vacation. The cabin has a rustic feel and is in a quiet location. It is always clean and well stocked with a lot of things we need. Also, the caretaker is extremely nice and helpful throughout the booking and lodging process. I highly recommend.
My sister and I planed a two night stay at this property. We knew the cottage was rustic and that was ok. But what we found was the tv didn't work. Manager offered to send her husband up at 10 which wasn't ok for two women alone.
It rained really hard and during the night when we got up stepped in water and almost fell. We were given the husbands number to call if we needed anything. I called about the roof leak and no one answered or called me back.
The living room furniture is very old and the couch is very stained. We wouldn't set on it.
The road is red dirt and due to the rain we were so glad to be in a 4x4.
The kitchen drawers need to be cleaned. We understand that mice get in homes but when you rent you don't want droppings. The pictures online are the home but either many years ago or not close enough to see what it really is. We didn't stay the second night.

We arrived late in the evening, the owner did not realize that we were coming for some reason and did not leave out the key for us. We ended up checking into another motel after midnight. The only positive I can say Is that they were quick to refund my money.
The movie 'Fried Green Tomatoes' was filmed in this town. Wander through the town that has the Whistle Stop Café, the train depot, (antique shopping) and the Opry on Saturday nights. Enjoy kayaking and tubing from the park 1/4 mile from the cabins. Middle Georgia River Adventures will take you down the river for slow family friendly trips or more challenging trips for thrill seekers. The state historic site, Jarrell Plantation, an old cotton plantation, is 5 away. Among other regular events, July 4 brings blacksmiths, quilters and other skilled tradesmen of the past. Enjoy the best barbeque restaurant ever (in our opinion), Fresh Air Barbeque in Jackson.
