This cabin shares its fenced yard, its hot tub, and the rest of the property with six other cabins: the Prospector, Snowshoe, Washoe, Steamer Tahoe, Field and Stream, and Pioneer. A group of up to 34 people can rent them all together as the Spruce Grove Cabin Retreat (please call Vacasa for details).

Located toward the east side of South Lake Tahoe, this cabin is within walking distance of restaurants, less than a mile from Lake Tahoe's beaches and marina, and a little more than a mile from the slopes at Heavenly and the businesses of downtown. With so much to do nearby, you will love the location of this house! However, you may also be content with staying near the cabin, exploring the tree-lined and grassy play area, and relaxing.

With two bedrooms (each containing a queen-size bed) and a sofabed in the living room, six guests will be more than comfortable here! The shared yard and doggy clean-up stations make the house very dog-friendly, so feel welcome to bring your furry friends with you! Please note that there is an additional fee.

You and your guests will love gathering in the living room, lighting a fire in the gas fireplace, watching some cable TV or using the DVD player, and enjoying the WiFi access while gazing out the large window at the surroundings. A full kitchen has all the essential equipment for cooking up tasty meals. With both a shower and a tub in the bathroom, you'll be able to enjoy a relaxing bubble bath at the end of a long fun-filled day!

Outside, you have your own private deck with a picnic table and a gas grill. The small complex of cabins have a shared hot tub, large fenced yard, and a courtyard with gas grills and a large picnic area that you'll also be able to enjoy!

This cabin is a perfect place to stay while you enjoy everything the South Lake Tahoe area has to offer - whether you prefer skiing, boating, exploring town, golfing, or simply relaxing in the cabin! If you're traveling with a larger group, there are several similar cabins in the Spruce Grove complex that can be booked in conjunction with this home. You can easily plan a family reunion, work retreat, or fun-filled getaway with your friends and everyone will have an unforgettable vacation!

Come stay at the Bear's Den and experience a cozy cabin with all the comforts of home that will help you get the most out of your vacation!

Great Tahoe experience

  • 5 of 5

This was a great little place to stay. It felt very homey and was a great place to spend time with my family. The yard area was very nicely kept and a it was a great place for the kids to run around and play. The beds were very comfortable and had everything we needed. 100 times better than staying in a hotel. We had family visiting from Texas and they were so impressed at the experience. It was also a great location. Very close to the lake and the casinos. I would highly recommend it and will be coming back in the future!

Experience completely ruined by a number of little things

  • 1 of 5

I hate to say that, but that was by far my worst experience with rental properties.

Don't get me wrong - this place is in great location and has a lot of potential. But there is a lot of little - and not so little - things that completely ruined the experience and made me hate the time there.

Most obvious thing - when we checked in, all the floors were dirty. Real dirty. Lots and lots of dust. And puddle on the kitchen floor. And food scraps on the tables. And some dirty and smelly stuff in the garbage bin - under the plastic bag. We've spent first two hours cleaning everything up. Yikes. Folks, fire your cleaners ASAP.

Heck, we were not even sure that bedding was changed after the previous guests - we had reasons to believe that it wasn't, at least on one bed. Yikes.

Kitchen and bathrooms have ancient cabinets, old and chipped and dirty paint, and ancient and broken plumbing. Hey, if kitchen and bathrooms are in so dilapidated state, it doesn't matter how much effort and money went into other rooms - and to be honest living room and bedrooms got a lot of attention. The whole property will still leave an impression of old and poorly maintained.

No dishwasher and no central heating. Really? What year is that???

The smell... The property is supposedly non-smoking, but there is persistent cigarette smoke smell. Owners probably should get rid of old couches and beds.

And there is a lot of little things... One would turn a blind eye to those if not the problems I have already noted above. But if big things are wrong, one starts noticing the small ones as well:

- Fireplace, which is main heat source, needed manual fidgeting to work.

- No heating in the bathroom.

- Clogged shower drain.

- Leaking kitchen sink, despite maintenance attempts to fix it.

- Unusable Wi-Fi - way too unstable.

- Broken hair dryer.

- Many things that one would expect to be in evert kitchen are missing - e.g. cutting boards, strainer, etc.

A little old and run down, pans had burned food on them so everything .stuck. Property listing said there was laundry, wasn't any. No rugs so had to use our own towels to try to to keep snow and mud out. Jacuzzi was great, also had clogged shower and maintenance came quickly to fix. Nice to be able to have dogs there and gated yard made it even better.

Lacked details for comfort

  • 3 of 5

Cabin is inexpensive but still advertises wifi internet. I called because the internet didn't work and was told they'd fix it or send someone out...nothing happened and not having internet for my kids to relax with just a little. Also, the water in the shower didn't drain. It filled up to my calf before I was done showering. Probably wouldn't do it again and I'd pay slightly more to go elsewhere.
